Today we're going to talk about parenting. I'm going to just talk about this just because it's in my spirit to say something.  I'm a parent of more than one child and I've learned a lot of things along the way but one of the biggest lessons I've learned is you don't know what you don't know.  I've been having children since I was 21 and didn’t actually stop until I was 40.  With that being said, there's a lot of things I did not know and then in not knowing and then going on a journey to discover things about yourself, well you're knowing things now.  You get into this you know coulda, woulda, shoulda kind of mode and I just you know want to encourage you not to do that. You are going to go through various aspects on this journey if you're a parent that you're going to have the mirror show you different things that you did when you were raising children that maybe weren't the best thing. So again it goes back to you don't know what you don't know. That being said, one of the best things you can do when you have those realizations is to you forgive yourself.  I went through this phase where I had a couple of my children come back to me to basically want to nail me to the cross for things that I had done.  I basically allowed that for a while and I lived in that shame, blame game that you do to yourself, the guilt.  Then I had to shake myself and I had to say you know what I'm sorry. Even in saying I'm sorry and forgiving myself, I had to take myself off the cross that they tried to nail me to. I had to own the person who I was at that time but also really express that that's not who I am today and stand in my authentic self today. Don't get me wrong I was in that shame game that blame game that guilt trip. I was there for a while because I took it to heart about you parenting and I was trying to do so much better than my mother and my father had done with me. I allowed myself to go into that deep hole of l look at what I’ve done, I’ve done the very thing that I didn’t want to do as a parent. I’ve done some things that I’m not proud of, but I am not that person anymore. So I encourage you that as you uncover and get to the root of  things that you are open and honest, apologize for the things you need but then you move forward. Don’t sit in things move forward!
