Welcome to Lessons Learned Soul Tribe - Oedipus Complex- Men and Women in Relationships.  Today we're going to talk about the Oedipus complex. now I knew about this but I really probably didn't pay too much attention to it in how it impacts your life whether you're a male or female The Oedipus complex basically is how you choose men and women in your relationships. So for females, it's basically a person who was similar to the male role model in your life.  If you had a positive role model, you are most likely to choose at that type of person who treats you the same way.  That's why, it's encouraged that if you have a daughter that their father teaches them how a man should treat them by taking them out on a date and actually letting them get dressed up so they understand that a man is supposed to open the door for them, that a man is supposed to treat them in a fashion that has been modeled by their father. Conversely, that can be negatively as well because whatever the daughter has been exposed to by the male role model she will inadvertently and very unconsciously pick that same person in her life as her male counterpart in relationships.  The same holds true for males. It's their mother figure that that they will model after, so if their mother was caring and compassionate, gave unconditional love then that's what they're going to grow up with as well.  If they did not and then you're also going to see that manifest in the males life by the partners he chooses. The reason why I'm bringing this up is because until you realize this, you're doing this very unconsciously and unfortunately, when you do things unconsciously you can start cycles and repeat things until you learn the lesson of where it  is coming from and how is this manifesting in your life.  Sometimes it just helps if somebody can come in and basically connect the dots for you as to where things are coming from so short lesson today, but I hope this helps you.
