Jenni Herchenbach
In this episode of Intermittent Fasting Stories, Gin talks to Jenni Herchenbach from Omaha, NE. Gin’s new book Clean(ish) is available for preorder! Gin wants to show you how to become clean(ish) where it counts:  you’ll learn how to eat (mostly) clean and live (mainly) clean as you unlock your body’s natural ability to self-clean.    Instead of aiming for perfection (which is impossible) or changing everything at once (which is hard, and never leads to lasting change), you’ll cut through the confusion, lose the fear, and embrace the freedom that comes from becoming clean(ish). As you learn how to lower your toxic load through small changes, smart swaps, and simple solutions, you’ll breathe a (clean) sigh of relief and embrace your own personal evolution toward becoming clean(ish).  Go to https://www.ginstephens.com/cleanish.html for more information. The book will be released on 1/4/22, but you can preorder now through Amazon or your favorite online book retailer. Preordering is really important, as it gives the publisher an idea of how many books to print. Jenni is a “happily unemployed” occupational therapist and grandmother.  Jenni read Delay, Don't Deny in one day, and immediately became a faster. IF came into her life while on a new path to liking herself: "I spent way too many years not liking myself," she shares. Jenni feels that IF would not have worked for her had she not done work on her heart first.  Jenni began with a 16:8 protocol, and eventually found that 21:3 was her ‘sweet spot’ for weight loss. At her highest weight, Jenni was 197 pounds. After more than a year of IF, she discovered her 'happy weight' is between 148 to 158 pounds. She has stopped tracking her fasts and weighing and is now just happily living the IF lifestyle.  Jenni's advice: "Nail the clean fast. Settle in. IF is not quick weight loss. Ditch the scale, but instead find a dress or pants to be your guide. Take lots of photos, and have someone point out the changes they see you in you!"  Get Gin’s books at http://www.ginstephens.com/get-the-books.html, including her New York Times Bestseller, Fast. But if you’re looking for support from a community of like-minded IFers, we are here for you at dddsocialnetwork.com.  In 2019, Lynn’s step-daughter shared IF with her, along with Delay, Don't Deny. Lynn read it right away. In April of 2019, she did her very first fast of 20:4. Lynn instantly knew IF was something she could easily maintain as a lifestyle. Her husband began IF soon after she did in an attempt to reverse his Type 2 Diabetes. After a year of IF, he is off all his diabetes meds! Lynn has gone from 168 to 142 pounds, and from a size 14 to a size 4/6. She loves the energy IF has brought her, and she will live the IF lifestyle for the rest of her life. Lynn’s advice to new IFers: "Just try it! Commit to it for at least 30 days! Fast clean. Don't be afraid of it. Look into the science. It all makes sense."  Get Gin’s books at http://www.ginstephens.com/get-the-books.html, including her New York Times Bestseller, Fast. Feast. From sixteen on, she was either trying to lose weight or gaining weight. She tried countless diets, and this began the cycle of yo-yo dieting. A close friend shared Delay, Don’t Deny with her, and Kristin learned about the clean fast. In March of 2020, she began IF. Her daily goal is 20:4, and to date, Kristin has lost 20 pounds.  Kristin has experienced fantastic health improvements: both her plantar fasciitis and eczema are gone, her allergies have improved, she has more energy, and she no longer needs to nap. Kristin shares that IF has also helped her diet mindset.  As a chef, Kristin feels that IF gives her the freedom to enjoy the decadence of life.  Get Gin’s books at http://www.ginstephens.com/get-the-books.html, including her New York Times Bestseller, Fast. But if you’re looking for support from a community of like-minded IFers, we are here for you at dddsocialnetwork.com.   Jan is a respiratory therapist.  In December of 2019, a close friend invited her to a meeting to learn more about IF and encouraged her to read Delay, Don't Deny. At this point in her life, Jan had reached her highest weight, and knew she had to do something. Jan decided to ease her way into the IF lifestyle, gradually adding time to her daily fasts. IF felt immediately different than anything she had tried before, and she knew she'd never return to diets again. By the following July of 2020, Jan had lost 46 pounds, going from 215 to 169, and she feels so good! Jan has experienced amazing health benefits: decreased inflammation, improved skin, and relief from her Fibromyalgia. Her chronic fatigue has disappeared, and she now has sustained energy. She remarks, "Where would I be if I had not found IF?" IF has also helped her to manage stress, and she feels accomplished living the IF lifestyle.   Jan's advice to new IFers: "Just do it! Just try it! Fast clean, and see how long you can fast each day; it can only benefit you!"  Get Gin’s books at http://www.ginstephens.com/get-the-books.html, including her New York Times Bestseller, Fast. Feast. Amanda Bloomfield
In this episode of Intermittent Fasting Stories, Gin talks to Amanda Bloomfield from Monument, CO. Amanda is an operations manager for a real estate office. She shares that she never had a weight problem growing up, but after having four children, she could never lose the weight she would gain with each pregnancy. She and her sisters would try various diet programs together. Amanda was either on a diet, or off a diet; there was no in-between. She became a pro at tracking macros, calories, and weighing food.  In March of 2019, one of her sisters mentioned IF, but Amanda dismissed it. Then after a family vacation, and seeing the scale go up yet again, Amanda decided to give IF a try. She knew it was time to do something about her weight. On a food blog she follows, many people were talking about Delay, Don't Deny and the Intermittent Fasting Stories Podcast, along with the DDD Facebook group. She quickly read the book, then listened to many of the success stories. This gave her hope and motivation! Amanda has gone from 210 pounds to between 145-150 pounds. Her goal is 135 pounds. She has experienced some wonderful health benefits: her plantar fasciitis disappeared, her headaches and migraines have greatly decreased, and her cholesterol numbers have come down.  Amanda's advice is to read Fast Feast Repeat, and listen to the IF Stories Podcast. Stick with it and be consistent. Give yourself a goal.   Get Gin’s books at http://www.ginstephens.com/get-the-books.html, including her New York Times Bestseller, Fast. Feast. Chenoa has experienced many health benefits: her vision has improved, her blood sugar numbers have improved, and her skin is glowing. She has also lost 45 pounds! When she was diagnosed with AFib, she knew it was time to do something. “I had constant shortness of breath, and didn't want to live this way the rest of my life!”  In December of 2019, she read the New England Journal of Medicine article on IF. She then searched for an IF podcast, and found Gin’s and Melanie's, The Intermittent Fasting Podcast. She also read Delay, Don't Deny.  In January of 2020, Michaela began her IF journey with 16:8. She eventually moved to 19:5, and currently keeps a 3-4 hour daily window. Michaela has lost 80 pounds, and feels great!  Her health has greatly improved. But if you’re looking for support from a community of like-minded IFers, we are here for you at dddsocialnetwork.com.  Jeni never followed diets, but instead accepted that she would always be "big." By the end of nursing school in 2009, her weight climbed to 230 pounds. It was then that she hired a trainer, followed a diet, and managed to lose 30 pounds. But over the years, she gradually gained the weight back.  In November of 2019, a friend posted about her IF journey, sharing that she was an upcoming IF Stories podcast guest (Episode 55). This inspired Jeni to try IF, and she began that day! She currently prefers a 20:4 protocol, and has gone from a size 16/18 to a size 6/8.  Jeni's health has improved. Her blood pressure is lower, all of her labs are better, her fasting insulin is now 4.9, and she no longer needs GERD medication. Jeni's doctors are thrilled with her progress, and completely support her IF lifestyle.   Get Gin’s books at http://www.ginstephens.com/get-the-books.html, including her New York Times Bestseller, Fast. She dieted her entire life, beginning at just 15 years-old.  In January of 2019, Temple found IF after searching for a way to lose weight. She says, "I was sick and tired of being sick and tired."  Obesity runs in her family, along with Type 2 Diabetes, and Temple was ready to change the path she was on.  She read The Obesity Code, Delay, Don't Deny and Fast Feast Repeat, and instantly made IF her new lifestyle. Her favorite protocol is 22:2, but she varies it from time to time.  IF has greatly improved her health! Temple’s hot flashes and skin tags are gone, and her food intolerances and acid reflux have both disappeared. Temple has lost four sizes, going from a size 20 to a size 16.   Temple exclaims, "IF is the only thing that has been consistently consistent in my life.
