On this episode, we interview Marques Burgman. Marques learned what adversity was at a young age, having guns pulled on him as young as six years old. He went to the University of Florida where he ran track and won two national championships. After college, Marques did whatever he could to succeed, including briefly selling weed to cover his rent. From there, Marques read books, sought out mentorships, and took critical and intentional steps to find success. On this episode, Brenden Clarke discusses his many peaks, as well as his darkest valleys. Brenden has found success in the fashion industry where he started multiple clothing companies, he has taught English abroad, played poker professionally, and is currently the head of photo and video at Gap Inc., despite having taught himself photography only a few years prior. Even with the numerous peaks, Brenden has still had to fight through valleys along the way. Brenden has always had anxiety, but was also diagnosed with intrusive thoughts. This caused terrible thoughts to enter his mind and tell him to act on it, even though he would rather take his life than ever do some of the thoughts he had. Brenden found ways to overcome this and become one of the best photographers in the running world. He shares his entire story in this long episode, but it's worth the full listen. Alexi Pappas is the most well known person that we have had on our show thus far. She is an Olympian, film director, actor, and best selling author. Alexi has also dealt with extreme lows. Her mom committed suicide when she was just five years old, and she has also dealt with depression and suicidal thoughts as an adult. She was kicked off her track team for her final two years of high school and was one of the worst runners at the start of her collegiate career. Obviously, she overcame all of this to become the rockstar we know today. On this episode, Alexi talks about her mom's suicide, overcoming depression, her Olympic journey, her book and movies, and a few of her future projects that we could see soon. Alexi is a beautiful soul that I am proud to have as a friend. I am so grateful that she trusted me and found the time to come record a podcast before our episodes even began releasing.
