Political Opinions Abound
More than 50% of the country vehemently disagrees with the idea that MAHA and other administration policies are somehow anti-science. Generally great content, but often the conversations get political. Pushing a certain agenda. Unnecessary turn
I find some of it interesting, though I disagree that “obesity is a symptom of an underlying metabolic disorder,” as Dr. Cooper likes to say. She ignores overeating as a cause for obesity. Her information seems anecdotal, not based on science. But the reason I will no longer listen to this podcast is that she brought politics into the discussion. Whether or not you like the current administration, it’s not to be blamed for obesity and shouldn’t have entered the conversation.

Recent Episode a Complete Failure
I have loved, recommended, and supported this podcast for a long time. But the recent episode with Dr. Vin Gupta should have never been released. It’s boring and uninformative. Dr. Gupta is clearly not well-versed in GLP1s and never misses an awkward opportunity to take a dig at the current administration. I think the Fat Science team was star struck with the guest and their unneeded, amateurish and smug political bias was leaking out all over the place. Do better going forward please.

Informative
As someone who has just recently started the zepbound journey and has struggled with their weight for years, I am enjoying Dr. Cooper's medical explanations that you won't get in your local doctor's office. I want to understand what I'm taking and how it's working in my body. The 4 star rating is because the comic relief aspect from one of the other hosts is more annoying than funny. I fast forward through those and it provides no value to me as a listener.

Listened waiting for the science
I’ve tried listening to this podcast several times, the issue I continually find is the lack of science. The doctor tends to use generalizations—no actual studies. Speaks on areas that are not her “supposed” specialty like menopause. She told women what to do, sounds like “medical advice” uninformed medical advice. I wanted this to be a better experience but that’s what she speaks from “her experience,” and a lot of what she does as she explains to listeners has no studies to back it up. I’m over the whole influencer era,and doctors who spew what they “think” rather than actual science. She might want to read some studies and ask Andrea to actually listen to herself as she continually says remarks that aren’t funny, while trying to be relatable. Sometimes you have to not try hard and as a sidekick, go with it. Anyways, one other thing —Emily says enough items that are factual (because they’re well studied and well known) so you feel you’re getting expertise with it all, you are not. You are getting ego.

Unfair portrayal of compounds
I enjoy the podcast but I’m disappointed in their negative portrayal of compounded medication. They portray all compounded pharmacies as scam machines and that’s simply not the case especially with 503b pharmacies subject to FDA oversight. People with limited finances deserve treatment as well.

Great podcast for learning
Dr.Cooper is a breath of fresh air! I learn something new every single episode. Thank you!

Fantastic Info
This podcast is my favorite. Dr Cooper is so experienced, informed and intelligent with a wonderful side of humility too. Mark adds a nice tone too. My one criticism is that Andrea tends to be comic relief and it’s hard to listen to her talk over someone to get a laugh. I’m here for the best information and not the sillier side. This is probably my favorite podcast about GLP1s.

Educational, but…
I wish there was less of Andrea. She rambles on and repeats herself constantly, super annoying.

Love the podcast please get rid of the tagline.
I really appreciate the knowledge in this podcast and it’s anti-diet focus. However, Andrea’s intro “does this podcast make me look fat?“ is tone deaf and goes against anti-diet philosophy. I would like this podcast so much better if they got rid of that tagline. Thank you for considering.
Anti diet?
Soothing and educational
Dr Cooper is very soothing when she talks! Ha! Thought I’d mention that. And more importantly, the message is soothing. In that, there is a deeper metabolic reason why so many struggle to lose weight and keep it off.

Love this podcast!
Update: I’ve been listening through all but 12 remaining episodes and while I do like it and learn a lot, I think the latest episode about telehealth was out of touch. I feel privileged to even have any access period to these metabolic meds, let alone flying to and from a private clinic in WA state as some of the patients must do every 3 months for blood tests. I get good information from Dr. Cooper on a science front, but one of the other hosts seems really out of touch. Prev review: Saw this on the r/antidietglp1 page a week or so ago and have been working through the episodes on my commute. I have a history of restrictive dieting so this is very refreshing! Today’s episode about dosing was particularly timely for my own journey, and I found the fertility episode unexpectedly interesting as well!

Compounding Isn’t the Enemy
Updating: Dr. Cooper operates as if physicians really do their due diligence with their patients. They do not. This is why many Americans have turned to telehealth. Not only that, but I’ve had physicians actively gatekeep medication from me. Dr. Cooper sees, acts, and speaks as if the American healthcare system is functional and, sadly, it is not. Also, I’d rather NOT force connections between myself and a physician who doesn’t even want to see me. Disappointed to hear Dr. Cooper’s feelings regarding compound glp-1s. I’m no longer listening and I won’t suggest listening to anyone else.

Amazing
This podcast is so educational! I’m learning about what causes obesity and the sane way to improve metabolism. Dr Cooper is shedding so much light on the topic of metabolism and obesity and giving me hope that there may be a sane way to improve my health.

Don’t recommend for the average American
If you’re able to afford access to GLP-1s through insurance or paying out of pocket, this podcast will be a great help to you. If you are like the majority of Americans, you’ll be left wondering if you will ever be able to lose weight and gain health without access to those medications. I’ve listened to several episodes and am left feeling hopeless about getting to a healthier body weight.

Thank you!
I have learned so much from this podcast and I love the focus on science. I just listened to another podcast on nutrition and fighting the diet culture. The amount of advertising and self promotion made it hard to get through the content. So, I wanted to thank you for the gift of Fat Science: no advertising, no self promotion! Just science that helps you feel better! I really appreciate that!

Love this podcast!
As I’ve started my GLP1/GIP journey, listening to this podcast has brought me so much information and comfort. Hearing what has physically happened to my body over the years of bad diet decisions coupled with the genetic hand I have been dealt has really put things into perspective for me and has helped me understand how the medication I am taking is helping me fix those things, not just lose weight. I have recommended this podcast to so many people recently because this information is not out there in the mainstream and I really wish it would!

Compounding is not the enemy
You do realize that compounded GLP-1s have been transforming people’s lives? That we are not all idiots? That most of us can’t afford $600-1300 a month for medication? Why don’t you identity the real enemy. No longer listening as you’ve lost my respect.

Revolutionary! Mind-blowing!
I love this show! I am so grateful for Dr. Cooper’s practical approach to the scientific explanations of why we get fat. She is an incredible wealth of knowledge. Her steady way of sharing that knowledge feels like the calm port in the stormy seas of the diet and weight-loss industry. I never get the feeling that she, Mark, or Andrea are trying to sell me anything, so I trust them. As someone who has tried EVERY health fad and weight-loss trend over more than three decades, I love how calmly sensible this podcast is. Thanks for the great work you three do!

Condescending
They spoke about compounding as though we do it because we have a choice. Someone else needs to start an honest podcast about this topic without their elitist attitudes.

There is Definitely an Agenda
Despite their tagline, this podcast definitely has an agenda. They also act naively uninformed about just how bad & how unavailable weight loss health care is in the US. The hosts’ idealistic goals might be admirable if they had any relation to reality. But, alas, these episodes are like listening to a lecture in medical school: all theory and no practice. So in the end this is just another doctor lecturing us without any accessible solutions.

Life Changing Information
Excellent to hear science and learn an entire new approach to life. As a mental health therapist this has completely changed my approach to my clients, my friends, family and myself.

ill-informed fearmongering
I listen to a half hour of conjecture and nonsense about compounded GLP-1s—a bunch of rubbish from Big Pharma stooges. Nothing of value here.

Science-based and compassionate approach to weight
I love this podcast - there’s a ton of great science content mixed with health info, and it makes all the mysteries of weight issues and management make sense. Also a great medium between the weight loss-obsessed society at large, and the fat acceptance movement that I know leaves some people with excess weight feeling frustrated.

Too much what not to do
Too much telling you what not to do without giving good information on what you should do. I do like the show and will likely continue to listen but please help us out with what we should do.

So interesting!
Lots of pertinent & practical tips and info to help us be aware of so many heath-related conditions that can be understood and dealt with rationally and with knowledge. The show doesn’t induce panic but presents steps to better health. Compassionate and fascinating!

Week after week, it delivers
This show reminds me of the daily American Public Radio Show Marketplace about the business world. Why? Because it’s not a subject I would normally gravitate towards, but every episode is more interesting than the last. You learn a lot, and even if it’s not specifically applicable to your circumstance, it’s never not interesting. Well done!

Dr. Cooper knows her science!!
I have been a client of Dr. Coopers for 5 years now! 5 years ago I had been to multiple trainers, dietitians, and doctors and I had hit a dead end with all of them. I was exercising, eating very healthy and restricted, and my health was declining and weight was rapidly increasing! I found doctor Cooper and she was the first doctor who actually knew what was going on and did not put me on another diet! Since being a client I have improved my levels and am not in the risk zone anymore and my weight has stabilized. I am grateful for her science and encourage others who have met dead end after dead end to listen to this podcast and read her book!

Dietitian Approved
I have been a dietitian for almost two decades. I have been consistently frustrated with other medical providers view of obesity and appalled at the treatment. I really appreciate this perspective and looking deeper at the physiological causes of eating and weight issues. I don’t always agree with everything mentioned but I have been impressed by the science and conversation. It has made me think and be a better dietitian.
