WHY – the second of our profile episodes on people doing endurance sports. These episodes are about exploring a person’s why?
Why did they start their journey with endurance sport?
What makes them tick? What is their inspiration? What are their goals?
Our guest on this episode is Dinnie Moeahu. Dinnie opens up about his life being at a cross roads. Massively overweight (140kg) and potentially facing a life ending health crisis, Dinnie decided to train and complete an Ironman triathlon.
At that time he was also approached by a local charity in Taranaki, The Little Fighters Trust. They needed help to buy a room at Ronald McDonald House. Dinnie felt the accountability this would provide would only be a benefit to him.
Dinnie set a target of raising $80,000 and the desire to not let the charity down helped give him the accountability he knew he would need.
Dinnie was a fantastic guest and loves to have a laugh often at his own expense.
