The session begins with the party in a state of haste as they prepare to leave Cortillia following a political shift: the Emperor is in a coma, and the Grand Duchess Majira Zin'Drake has become the acting Empress. Ellie and Ciara lead a stealth mission to recover Ciara's armor from a smithy before they depart. To move undetected, several party members use magic to transform into animals—Ellie and Luna become dogs, while another becomes a cat disguised as a tabby. Despite some minor mishaps involving knocked-over tools, they successfully retrieve the armor and leave a note for Kenaris' mom. Once the party reconvenes, they receive news about an upcoming trial in Lychester, the capital of the human kingdom. This is the trial for Luna. They realize they have roughly seven to eight days to reach the capital to attend. The group plans to meet at Restarumn, a wealthy retirement community near the border of the Dwarven Alliance and the Arcane Empire. There is also a brief, heartwarming check-in on family members back in the town of Virkis, where repairs are moving quickly due to the handy nature of the tradespeople there. The party meets Lisster and Endellia, members of Ileh Cagaan ( AKA Blood Guards or Honor guards.) They directly under the emperor's command and have a latent command to escort Ari out of the country and to the border into safe hands in the even that he becomes unable to protect her. During the trek through the Underdark, the party faces environmental challenges like a cave-in caused by a recent earthquake. They use skill checks to traverse the rubble, and at one point, Lisster "princess carries" Ari to assist her. Once on the surface In a pivotal moment, Ellie uses Greater Restoration—facilitated by a diamond provided by Ari—to heal a merman named Aloksha, whose body was half-petrified. After resting, the group reaches the coast. They encounter Captain Drake and Captain Penelope White, eventually deciding to travel by ship toward the Dwarven Alliance. The session concludes with the party preparing for a high-speed ride on Direwolves to ensure they reach Lychester in time for the trial Welcome! In Episode 73, "Vexing Vortex," the party navigates a series of supernatural mysteries following the destruction of the castle. The session begins with character recaps, highlighting Ellie’s growing unease with her "spirit caller" abilities and Ciara’s struggle with "Hans," a mysterious entity that occasionally seizes control of her body. During their travels the Damsels have been given charge of a heavy relic box (also referred to as Rian's box).This "mysterious box" later appears to move on its own, prompting Ari into action and frantic calls to Art. While resting, Luna is pulled into a vision where she encounters the spirits of Wilhelm and Nelda, Luna's ancestors. They reveal a grim fate: their souls are being "collected" by a demon who keeps their skulls as trophies and plead for help offering their old gear as a reward. Ellie worries over her friendship with Luna after she said something very insensitive to her. But they have bigger problems to deal with. The quake caused everyone to fall down into the sea caves and the damsels are separated and some gravely wounded. Another strange thing... people who should be dead aren't dying...But the Damsels cannot and will not say no to helping the injured animals get to safety. Time to rescue Peanutbutter the horse The Damsels begin to collect the survivors from the earthquake and the fall. They find Castle staff and members of the royal family while searching. Ciara uses her familiar to search for the other team members.Elly takes her opportunity to tease Van, Ari's uncle for his choices in animal transformation. LOL A long time pet peeve of his. Ciara gets to endure the awkward reunion of Arteus and his estranged mother. Ari gets terrible news of her Aunt being mortally wounded. Luna finally gets a lead to help her in her upcoming trial, a Doctor named Taeo has offered to examine her for his studies for lycanthropy. She consents and has to endure a harrowing mental experiment. The damsels finally have a moment go looking for their belongings amid the wreckage. Kenaris shows up with his mother in tow, much to Elly's pleasant surprise. Ciara's hitchhiker makes an appearance and takes a particular interest in the box Lucious/Rian left in their care. Oculus reports that he can smell "Cormac" one of Ciara's old friends. Shocked, Ciara looks around and runs into a very violent surprise. The Damsels have a rest. Luna, Ciara and Elly have a sleep over in the nightwell guest suite. Luna summons dog Luna. The Damsels walk into the City of Cortillia to go to the records hall for some good old fashioned homework! Much like a trip to an American DMV, the damsels are facing one of their toughest challenges yet. Ciara has a strange feeling overcome her and then she and Ari talk about "....courtship?" and what exactly that looks like. The Damsels run into a familiar face at the records center, Fairius. He is there to find dirt on his ex-wife during their child custody battle. Luna and the rest of the team research curse induced murders to help Luna in her upcoming court appearance. Fairius helps to translate the texts. Ari and Ciara are back at the blacksmith shop where they run into another friend, Kenaris. His mom, Delfinia is the head smith there. Ciara takes her armor in to get it adjusted to fit her better. Towards the end of the episode Ari decides to ask her wizard brother for help learning a new spell. Our D&D 5e campaign is a slow boil with focus on NPC and PC relations and politics (don't worry, we have battles too.) Ellie (Druid) and Kenaris (shapeshifter) go on a dog date! Luna is wandering the halls of Castle Zin'Drake when she runs into a suspicious Arcanic woman, with a TON of cats. Luna inquires who she is and gets a surprising turn of events. Ari and the ever handsome ~Gaius~ are out in the woods on the castle grounds when they're interrupted by one of Ari's officially endeared suitors. That's not awkward at all. Ellie and Kenaris' Doggy date continues as Kenaris lead's Ellie to a restaurant specifically made for dogs. They walk in and are seated at low tables and have floor pillows. A halfling comes out and begins to play for the dogs to listen to. (Naturally Ellie and Kenaris order Spaghetti and meatballs. ) Ari listens in to a conversation between her mother and her elder brother. They discuss Ari's future. AAaaaaaaaaaaand Ari does not want to think about that! Luna calls up Geleach and they catch up on news from Virkis. The Damsels are now in an official meeting. One to discuss how they are going to save Adlanna(Friend) in Borogavar (Different plane). Turns out Borogavar is basically the nine hells and the damsels need to go there to extract Adlanna. There's also a strong possibility that Breotracht wants Ciara to go there, given her past vison. Ari is committed to go but has to convince her brother that the nine hells is totally a safe place for her to go to as a pampered princess. Ciara has a lot to say on the matter but as usual... keeps it ALLLLl to herself.
