15 〜 the problem with "gotta be consistent to be successful!"
Are you ready for a bit of a rant? In this episode, I’m ranting about the “gotta be consistent to be successful!” trope I see going around in the online business world so much. If you spend a bit of time online, you’ll likely have heard the mantra “consistency is key” chanted by business experts over and over again as a no-fail way to magically manifest tons of sales. But there’s just so much nuance missing in the discussion around the topic of consistency. Join me as I share a nuanced discussion of the problems I see with the online business world’s current definition of consistency. Hopefully, this will help you release some of the guilt and shame of not being perfectly consistent all the time in your creative business. 14 〜 how perfectionism is a tool of oppression
As a perfectionism coach and researcher, I've studied the intersection of perfectionism and womanhood for the past almost 10 years now. Recently, I’ve been paying more attention to external systems of oppression in my research + my findings may (or may not) come as a surprise to you. Perfectionism is a tool of systemic oppression and so, in this episode, we’re going to dive deeper into the relationship between perfectionism + patriarchy and white supremacy culture. Join me as I share the 4 stages of overcoming perfectionism, how perfectionism is a tool of white supremacy culture and a tool of patriarchal oppression, how we can begin to move away from these oppressive systems + an anti-perfectionist rallying cry for creatives.
