Sunday marked the conclusion of Discovery Weekend, the biggest youth event of the year at Trinity! Discovery Weekend is a fun and meaningful retreat for our middle school students, led by our high school students. Throughout the weekend, students participate in worship, small groups, games, and powerful messages designed to help them begin the new school year with focus and faith.

The transition from Elijah to Elisha represents more than a leadership change; it reflects the ongoing continuity of God’s covenant work across generations. Throughout Elijah’s ministry, he often carried the burden of believing he was alone, yet God continually reminded him that the story of faithfulness was larger than any single prophet.

In this series, we are walking alongside the Prophet Elijah and paying close attention to how God cares for the soul in every season of life. Elijah lived in a time marked by conflict, uncertainty, and spiritual confusion. Yet what we see in his story is not only dramatic moments of faith, but also quiet places, daily provision, needed rest, and gentle whispers from God. His journey reminds us that God is not only concerned with what we do, but with who we are becoming.

We continue our series Soul Care with the message “Rested and Renewed” based on 1 Kings 19:1–8. One of the most important moments in Elijah’s story comes immediately after his greatest public success. After confronting the prophets of Baal on Mount Carmel, Elijah flees into the wilderness overwhelmed, fearful, and emotionally exhausted.

This Sunday, we continue our series Soul Care with the message “Waiting for Rain” based on 1 Kings 18:41–46. Even after God answers with fire on Mount Carmel, the drought continues. Israel has witnessed God’s power, yet the rain has still not come. Elijah’s story reminds us that spiritual breakthrough and visible change do not always happen at the same time.

We continue our series Soul Care with the message “A Divided Heart” based on 1 Kings 18:20–39. Mount Carmel is one of the most dramatic scenes in Elijah’s story, but beneath the fire from heaven lies a deeper spiritual issue: divided loyalty. Elijah confronts a people trying to live between two competing allegiances, worshiping the Lord while also accommodating the values surrounding them.

We continue our series Soul Care with the message “Faith in the Valley of Grief” based on 1 Kings 17:17–24. This passage interrupts the miracle story we might expect. After God’s dramatic provision through the widow’s flour and oil, tragedy still enters the household. The widow’s son becomes ill and dies, forcing both Elijah and the widow to wrestle honestly with grief, confusion, and questions about God’s presence.

We continue our series focusing on Soul Care with the message “Trusting God One Day at a Time.” Before you read further, ponder what actually nourishes your soul – especially when you are weary or hurried or spiritually dry – and what ‘drains’ your soul.

We begin our series Soul Care with the message “When the Soul Runs Dry” based on 1 Kings 17:1–7. The opening chapters of Elijah’s story unfold during one of the darkest spiritual seasons in Israel’s history. Under Ahab and Jezebel’s leadership, the covenant relationship between God and Israel had become fractured by idolatry, fear, and spiritual compromise. The drought Elijah announces is not merely a weather crisis; it reflects a deeper spiritual dryness within the nation itself.

We conclude our sermon series When the Spirit Moves with the message: “The Future Opens.” As we gather on Pentecost Sunday, we celebrate one of the most powerful moments in the life of the church – the outpouring of the Holy Spirit. What began as a promise becomes a reality. What was once uncertain becomes clear. And what once felt limited suddenly expands. Pentecost reminds us that the story of God is not behind us, but it’s still unfolding.
