36 minutes Posted Sep 25, 2026 at 5:08 am.
Mayor Karen Bass joins Tim on the race and the city. The Berkeley IGS/LA Times poll (Sept. 15–20) has Councilmember Nithya Raman up 11 points. Among voters ages 18 to 29, Raman leads 66% to 4%.  6:20 Homelessness in the city of L.A. rose 3.4% in the 2026 count, to 45,194 people, after two straight years of declines. Bass blames federal and state funding cuts, the cost of living, and gaps in L.A. County services. Her office says street homelessness is still down about 11% since she took office in 2023.  6:35 With the World Cup behind us, Super Bowl LXI at SoFi in February 2027 and the 2028 Olympic and Paralympic Games are next. Bass is using those deadlines to push infrastructure fixes, cleanup and housing that she says will outlast the Games.  6:50 Bailee Rios, 36, of Simi Valley, pleaded not guilty to second-degree murder and DUI charges in the Sept. 15 Chatsworth crash involving a Metro bus. She was wheeled into court on a gurney and is being held on $4.1 million bail. Her preliminary hearing is Nov. 2. See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
