Hurricane Polo Sends Dangerous Surf Toward SoCal
27 minutes Posted Sep 25, 2026 at 5:07 am.
Paramount's takeover of Warner Bros. Discovery, worth more than $110 billion, hit a snag. U.S. District Judge Araceli Martínez-Olguín gave the "Block the Merger" coalition time to object to Paramount's settlement with California and other states. Paramount owes Warner Bros. Discovery $7 million a day starting Oct. 1 if the deal isn't approved. Also, a bipartisan bill in Congress would create a 20% federal tax credit for film and TV made in the U.S.  7:20 Hurricane Polo is churning off Mexico's Pacific coast. SoCal won't take a direct hit, but high surf, rip currents and big morning tides could bring coastal flooding and erosion Sunday through Tuesday.  7:35 Knicks star Jalen Brunson hosts the Saturday Night Live Season 52 premiere Sept. 26. He's the fifth NBA player to host, after Bill Russell (1979), Michael Jordan (1991), Charles Barkley (1993, and three more times since) and LeBron James (2007). Then Dallas Raines joins with the latest on Hurricane Polo.  7:50 Lawrence Tanter, the voice of Lakers home games from 1982 until his retirement this year, has died at 76, weeks after entering hospice care. "It's been a blessing," he said when he entered hospice. Also, a string of late-night break-ins has hit Encino, Sherman Oaks and the Hollywood Hills, with burglars smashing glass doors to get in. See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
