One of the best
I heard about this cast about a week before this review and blew through it too easily. Some of the best RP across all live play RPGcasts, great story, delightful characters. I really hope they come back from their break soon cuz I am already hungry for more.

Storytelling at its finest
I often find it a bit difficult to begin watching or listening to RPG campaigns, as (deeply!) fond as I am of the medium — most require a relatively significant time investment, and I find I have to be prepared to commit more time at the outset to something about which I’m uncertain vs. other mediums like TV shows, in which it’s generally much clearer much faster if we are suited for one another. Will I find my way in this world? Will I come to emotionally rally behind these characters? Will the style of roleplay and format and game itself fit my personal interests and preferences and brain space? Sometimes, all of that feels like a heavy ask. To say that Champions delivers on all of those things seems an injustice. By the time I had caught up, I was hardly breathing — every turn in the story, every emotional beat, left me absolutely delighted. (By which I mean: anxious, entertained, devastated, overcome — you know, “delighted.”) I’d been switching back and forth between this podcast and a few others, but about halfway through I physically couldn’t pull myself away, and marathoned the rest of this one in a weekend. It really does (somewhat terrifyingly!) remind me what being a teenager felt like. It also delivers the kind of roleplay and sincere emotionality and incredibly moving exchanges that even scripted and traditional forms of media can’t quite reach. There is so much to love about this show, and so much working in concert to make it what it is, but at its heart is the honesty of these teenagers who just keep trying. Truly, it has filled my whole heart, and I am deeply grateful it exists.

Epic, am I right?
Honestly, Champions of the Earth is my favorite podcast. I’ve never found a podcast I’ve enjoyed instantly as much as champions, and I cannot wait to keep seeing where the adventure goes. Thank you for making such an enticing and exciting story. You’ll always have me recommending this to my friends.

TTRPG Power Rangers? Sold
The music is amazing, the cast are all very distinct and I love how animated the GM is.

Super Saiyans meets John Hughes meets Radio Drama
With a cast of amazingly talented writers, actors and artists, Champions of the Earth blends the best aspects of Dragonball Z, The Breakfast Club and I Love a Mystery into a modern, audiocast serial that fills many geeky hearts' needs.

Champions is one of if not the best...
Champions is one of the best edited actual play podcast I have ever listened to. The sound effects are astounding, and the characters have such amazing chemistry. I’m completely astounded after just episode two. I love this.

DnD meets 90’s teen drama Power Rangers
I love this podcast. I gave it a chance after listening to TAZ for the umpteenth time, and while I’m not actually a Sentai genre fan, the cheesecake 90’s teen interaction, detailed sound work, mecha, and genuine enthusiasm of the players either acting out a scene or describing what their characters’ suits look like was infectious. There’s the hard-working sweetheart Martha, if-glitter-frosting-was-a-person Olive, super chill Huxley, disaffected cool kid with heart of gold Mel, and Nico, that garage band drummer teen that you’re happy you’re not neighbors with (and to whom I’m constantly yelling “BOY. SHE’S COMING ONTO YOU.”). Colin is the DM and the creator of the game they’re playing. It’s really fun to see the adjustments he makes to the game mechanics and this crazy world of space aliens and a talking D20 he’s come up with. I adore the way he plays the character’s parents especially. TL;DR: if you like Live Play stories and the idea of hormonal power rangers and a giant mecha raccoon (of all things) sounds interesting, give it a shot. It’s worth it.

Instantly became my favorite podcast
This podcast is what I wish power rangers and voltron could have been when I was a kid. If you like canon queer characters, amazing sound design, and a super engaging story line this is where you find it. Lots of high school drama, teen angst, and super rad fights. I can’t express how much I enjoy this podcast and how strongly I recommend it.

Audiodrama Meets Actual-Play Podcast
The care taken with producing this actual-play podcast is tangible. The editing, sound design and effects, and music create scenes that are as dynamic and entertaining as the players themselves. Tired of podcasts that you have to slog through the first dozen episodes before they figure out how microphones work? This is NOT like that. This show is professional and engaging from episode one. Words cannot recommend this show strongly enough.

Incredibly polished, incredibly fun!
I was ready to give this show five stars by the end of the first hour. After downloading, it took me fewer than two days to catch up to the latest episode released (over 15 hours of listening time in total – basically, if I was awake and not at work, I was glued to this podcast). What had me engaged from the get-go was the level of commitment each member of the group brings to the table. The characters all straddle the line between feeling real and being entertaining, and it's in large part due to the players' willingness to be vulnerable and generous scene partners, working together to elicit genuine moments of conflict, high emotion, and comedy that seem to flow so naturally. Additionally, the GM runs a really well balanced game, guiding the players through adrenaline-pumping fight scenes (the descriptions of the mechs were just...so incredibly rad) and a developing mystery, but also knowing when to step back and let roleplaying moments organically point to where the story is headed next. And, of course, on top of all of this I would be remiss not to mention the excellent production; the level of detailed work put into the sound, in particular, is amazing. I'm excited to see what the future of this podcast, as well as the future of the game system, holds!

Somehow gets better every time!
This podcast just keeps improving! They started out with high standards, in both production quality and story, but they just keep raising the bar! Love the story, love the characters, and I can't wait to see what comes next!

Out of this world!
So I’ve had this show sitting in my podcast app for a while (I went on a download kick of various rpg based podcasts) and finally listened to the first episode yesterday on my way home and now (less than 24 hours later) I’ve listened to ALL the episodes, can’t wait for the next one, and am freaking out that I didn’t start listening and join the awesome community sooner!!! Don’t sit on this one!!! Listen to it now!!! It is SO good! It has the most cinematic quality of ANY rpg podcast, the players are so real and engaging, and the GM is phenomenal!!!

The Champions of my listening experience!
This show has everything. Mechs v Kaiju, teens with attitude, super powers, lovable characters and great performance. If you only get to listen to one new podcast ever again, it better be this one! The heroes of Beach Bay, which I for some reason have in my head to call the Beach Baybies, though no one ever should, are likable and I’m so excited to see more from them.

Epic Show!
This podcast is amazing. For fans of power rangers and Sailor Moon or just fans of tabletop RPGS. The cast is amazing and lovable. Collin is an amazing storyteller and you won't be disappointed by what you find!

SO excited to see where this is going!
I love any rpg that makes me feel like I'm at the table with friends, and this ABSOLUTELY accomplishes that goal. The chemistry across the board is off the charts, and the drama and pacing are wonderful. The music and sound effects really place you in the middle of the action, too. I am SO READY to fall in love with these characters and go on an adventure with them!

Fantastic!
I’ve been looking into new Actual Plays to listen to and to find one that is this charming, fun, and well produced - and yes, it’s very Power Rangers if you haven’t figured that out in the first ten minutes - is a freaking God Send. Can’t hype this enough!

Champion Podcast
I am super excited to continue following the adventures of these crazy teens. This is by far the best produced and most immersive actual play podcast I've found. I love all these folks. End of the first episode is ****ing insane. Enjoy!

And they’re just getting started...
Right from the very first episode, CotE drops you into an engaging story supported by excellent music and effects. The characters are a delightful group of high school misfits (though I feel like some of them would fight me on that) whose backstories I can’t wait to dive into. The players and GM work together to set the scene for what is sure to be a zany ride. Text your friends, crank up the metal, and strap in. Let’s see where this goes! [Note: there are a few tiny audio balance issues, which I only mention in case you need to accommodate for them.]

In Media Rad
There's a lot I can say about Champions of the Earth but honestly nothing is going to quite tackle how great it is without listening to it yourself. If you like live-play tabletop gaming, high school mischief, cosmic superpowers, and just a fun time with cool people, you should definitely check this podcast out. We're only an episode in and I'm already hooked!

High quality production, TOP quality roleplaying!
Actual Play+professional-level radio drama sound design=amazing roleplaying radio adventure. It's the rare RPG podcast that brings this level of quality from the very first episode. The system itself may be in-testing, but this group has the roleplay on lock: every single scene is FIRE, and the players and GM make the early-2000s high school setting feel real and grounded. More than half the party has experience streaming RPGs, but it's a testament to the talent in the group that you can't tell which ones they are. GM Collin Kelly paces the story like a boss, and they've already got me wanting more!
