Coming in HOT this year with an action packed HOT TAKES episode all about goal setting for the new year in a way that actually supports your goals.
In case you didn't get it before, here's the guide to evaluating your year with purpose that we talked about in December's hot takes episode (#47): Evaluate your year with purpose:
Show notes:
- Future casting - Opportunity to be thoughtful & intentional with what you want to do in 2022
- Where do you want to be Dec 31, 2022?
- Who is that person you want to be 365 days later - being as specific as possible
- Future casting gives you a tangible anchor to work towards. Build a plan going backwards from there to be sure you can actually make this happen.
- Macro goals: Something to check off list this time next year - the “bigger” / long term goal
- Micro goals: What you can do weekly and monthly to get yourself to the macro goal - the “smaller” / short term goal
- Use S.M.A.R.T. as a guide for setting our goals: specific, measurable (& meaningful), action, realistic, timebound
- Meaningful: is this goal meaningful to YOU or to someone else is placing the goal on you
- Make them S.M.A.R.T. for YOU. They help focus you and give you direction.
- Your goals are not set in stone. Remain flexible & adjust as needed. Have an intentional check in with yourself month by month.
- Have a monthly goal & have weekly goals under that.
- Some goals are bound by the season. Not realistic to be working on all our goals every month/week/day.
- Have your goals rooted in your values. What are your values & what are some key areas in your life? What is one goal you can set in each of the areas? Or pick 2 areas and start there! Be intentional & stepwise.
- It’s not an all or nothing & it’s not an all at once shebang.
- Challenges & barriers - explore these and plan for them.
- Accountability - Find those accountability buddies. We will be your accountability buddies!! Jump into the DM with your goals (@therealdrjehu)
