In this episode of Beyond the bends we talk about the gut brain connection. The gut connects directly to the brain through chemicals like hormones and neurotransmitters that send messages. The chemical messages that pass between the gut and the brain can be affected by the bacteria, viruses and fungi that live in the gut called microbiome. Our gut is very sensitive to emotion; anger, sadness, stress, grief. So when we feel these things in the mind, it directly effects our gut, but often we can feel these things in the gut before the brain. This is why in yoga we call the navel point the second brain.Just the very thought of food in the head starts to get the stomach juices moving and ready to eat. That is the power of a thought.
