E136 Success in a Neurodivergent Life
I am so excited for you to meet my next podcast guest! She was a student I worked with as a high school counselor and now she has graduated with her Bachelor's in Graphic Design! I had Laiken as a student all 4 years of her high school career and have continued to keep in touch as she navigated adult life and college! I wanted you to hear her story about how she did it. I think some young people who have learning challenges, decide too early that college is not for them. I wanted you to see that it isn't as scary as it sounds and Laiken gives us all (Parents and young people) something to think about as we are guiding neurodiverse teens and young adults. E135 If You are Willing to Do This, You Will be Able to Do ANYTHING
I have been offering free worry workshops every Saturday and as I go through those sessions and work on anxiety with many of my clients, I have found an even better way to process emotions. As I have been teaching this concept to my clients, I realized it is exactly how we need to be processing ALL of our emotions, because remember, if we don’t process our emotions, we get stuck in the tunnel. We don’t want to feel and process emotions that are uncomfortable so we do a lot of things to not feel them like overeating, binge-watching Netflix, staying at home, using alcohol or drugs, scrolling social media and all of these things get in the way of the life we want to live.Feeling WheelSteps to Process and EmotionAudio to Process Emotions Guided by Me Find my podcastEmail me: [email protected] me: 785-380-2064More information Help me with my research. E 134 Believability Mirror
What is a believing mirror? You need one! Listen to this episode to find out what it is.Nelson Mandela argues that humility is one of the most important qualities to have, as this is the only way you can bring change in your life and in others’ lives. I have never thought about how humility would play a part in creating things or doing new things, but this makes so much sense. If I am not willing to go back and be a beginner, humbling myself to not have all the answers or to be new at something, then I won’t pursue it. All the people that you see out there, those people that are so amazing and successful, they were beginners at one time. They had to start when they didn’t know how to. They had the courage to trip and fall and make mistakes, and fail a bunch of times. We didn’t know them then. We didn’t see what it took for them to be that famous, creative, successful person. We just see the end result and say, hey I want that. ME too!! Find my podcastEmail me: [email protected] me: 785-380-2064More information Help me with my research. I would love to hear from you. E 130 The 3 Mindsets that Worry Uses on Us
There were 3 main thoughts that we worry about and they cause a lot of uncomfortable feelings. The 3 main thoughts are:“If I make a mistake, I will be exposed as a fraud.” “If I make a mistake, I am ruined.” This is the Perfectionism mindset.“I will disappoint everyone.” “I am responsible for everyone’s feelings and safety.” This is the Over-Responsibility mindset.“I must be 100% certain.” “If I am not careful, bad things will happen.” This is the Intolerance of Uncertainty mindset. In this episode, I will talk about how these play out in our lives and the place where you can override this alert system in your brain. Remember, the fight, flight, freeze, and fawn response system doesn’t turn off. There is no switch for that, BUT we can turn down the volume on the alarms. You can keep doing the things you want to with the alarms going off.I will be offering "live, virtual" workshops starting THIS SATURDAY, March 11. Each Saturday, I will teach you a new tool or strategy to override worry and you can bring all your worries to the workshop and we can talk about them specifically. I can help you find a tool that will help you worry less. I want you to be able to make decisions that help you grow and expand your life!Register Here for the Workshops!
