Today, I welcome Juan, co-founder and CEO of Waykana, an Ecuadorian startup with the mission to boost the world with the healthiest morning energy: the guayusa superleaf.
In his youth, Juan found himself looking for the best version of himself: healthier, purposeful, focused...This path led Juan to the depths of the Amazon rainforest, where he discovered an amazing treasure to share with the world, and do it ethically and sustainably with indigenous kichwa communities.
Waykana's story has just begun, and there is so much more for everyone to discover…
In today’s episode, we touch on:
How and why Waykana was started.
The benefits of the Guayusa leaf and why they use this super leaf in their products.
How they source the Guayusa leaf and the 1500 year old tradition of the indigenous people that originally discovered Guayusa.
What the indigenous people of the amazon rainforest eat to stay healthy and happy
The importance of a morning ritual or healthy habit
What’s coming next for Waykana
And honestly a ton more…
We’d love to hear what resonated with you over on Instagram, so share a screenshot of you listening to this episode and write out something you found interesting or something that you learned and tag myself, @simplyhann_ and Waykana at @waykana.energy.

I am excited to welcome Kate Lovett, the founder of Kate's Sea Moss, to the show today!
Kate was in a horrific motorbike accident in 2017 while on a surfing trip in the Philippines. She had multiple lifesaving surgeries and was in the ICU for 6 weeks. Surgeons told Kate she would never have a normal life again. While in recovery and unable to walk, Kate took it upon herself to naturally heal the body.
Kate was almost fully recovered through a vegan diet and exercise after a year and a half, except she couldn't kick the fatigue. Kate tried energy drinks, workout drinks, and everything you can think of naturally to get rid of the fatigue, and nothing worked. However, Kate had read about the benefits of Irish Sea Moss and decided to give it a try. The next day after trying Sea Moss, Kate woke up at 7 am and jumped out of bed with tons of energy. She immediately felt the difference from the Sea Moss packed with minerals.
Through nutrition, Kate was able to make a 100% recovery over 3 year period. In addition, Kate has helped many people in her community by having this product available at the local grocery stores, and now you have access to it too!
In today’s episode, we touch on:
What sea moss is, where it comes from
The many benefits of sea moss and how it’s helped Kate recover from such traumatic injuries
The current issues with the health industry from a female health entrepreneur
The importance of sticking with a habit to really see instrumental change
What it’s like creating a brand that makes no shortcuts in any way of health
You can connect with Kate on instagram at @katesseamoss and you can purchase her sea moss gel on her website at katesseamoss.com.

How often do we get to hear advice on how to live your best life from multiple people of all different ages, walks of life, and backgrounds in one setting? Not very often. And I wanted to change that! I think we all have so much to learn from one another – and so I thought I would bring in my family, friends, and loved ones to share some of their most prominent advice so we can continue to learn from one another and better ourselves.
You'll hear from people who are still in college, those who are now grand parents, friends in their mid-late twenties, those who have started their own businesses, those who have moved all over the country, and so many more facets of life. If you have any advice you'd like to share in the next advice episode, please feel free to record yourself via your iPhone or Zoom and email the recording to me at [email protected] – I would love to feature you on the next episode and invite you into the Becoming Simply Well family.
