★ The Japanese Government declared a State of Emergency  effective January 7, 2021. We would like to share a part of the statement which is useful to many people.

The first declaration of the state of emergency in April 2020 was nationwide. But, this new declaration (which will run for 1 month, from Jan. 8th to Feb.7th, 2021) is targeting residents and workers in Tokyo, Saitama prefecture, Kanagawa prefecture, and Chiba prefecture.

The declaration was made due to the rapid increase in the number of people infected by COVID-19 in those areas.

In Tokyo and Kanagawa, the hospital bed occupancy rate is over 80%.

★ The government is asking its people to do the following under the state of emergency:

● One, people should refrain from going outside after 8 pm except for urgent situations

● Two, restaurants and bars to close at 8 pm

★Please note of the following information as well:

● Kindergarten, elementary schools, high schools, universities, and colleges will remain open.

● The Common Test for University Admissions (大学入学共通テスト) will be held as planned.
