I have listened to and learned a lot from Asha voices for years. As of January 15, 2026 I am no longer subscribing to this podcast. I condemn the use of “chest feeding” as a blanket term used to describe breast-feeding women. I understand that this movement is not unique to ASHA however I cannot quietly consume media from outlets that use this type of language. First of all, this reduces the role of a woman in nearly all areas: biologically societally, spiritually, physically emotionally, etc. The list goes on and on. It is a term that is insulting to women in a woman dominated field. Second of all, I feel that this opens SLP‘s up to unnecessary scrutiny. It can allow people to hold SLP’s accountable litigiously when the word breastfeeding is used. It also consumes time and resources for educating coworkers, updating paperwork, etc. for already overworked speech pathologists. What a waste of time and resources. “Chest feeding” can be used under very specific circumstances with clients who prefer the term. But to try to include this in our daily use of language is a complete waste of time and resources.

All respect to Christina, no SLP should have a caseload of 100 and ASHA should be ashamed to broadcast without advocating for real change in the schools.

ASHA is not here to support SLPs and AuDs; they are focused on sustaining a business model that prioritizes the interests of those at the top while marginalizing those at the bottom. They offer neither meaningful support nor viable solutions. Instead, they push narratives that serve their own agenda, keeping clinicians trapped. DO NOT engage with this podcast until ASHA provides the real solutions that clinicians need and deserve.
