What would you need to do, give, forgive, or become if you knew you had only three days left?
Not because you’re planning to die.
Because knowing life ends forces you to stop negotiating with the things that matter.
After reading the first chapter of The Way of the Superior Man, I started thinking about masculine integrity, purpose, forgiveness, discipline, solitude and the gifts we keep telling ourselves we’ll give “one day.”
God has given me time and grace to figure out who I am.
But I’ve spent a lot of the time when I was supposed to be paying attention to myself…paying attention to everybody else.
So maybe this season isn’t punishment.
Maybe it’s an invitation.
A season where the phone gets quieter.
Nobody is looking for you.
Nobody desperately needs you.
And now you finally have enough silence to hear yourself.
The question becomes:
When are you going to get your act together?
Not when life gets easier.
Not when everybody understands you.
Not when you feel completely confident.
Now.
Because your deepest gift shouldn’t die inside you while you’re waiting to feel ready.
