In this episode of All About Prinmaking with Phil and Amy, our hosts introduce us briefly to the planographic form of printmaking. Planographic consisting of lithography, either on metal plates or stone slabs. Neither Phil nor Amy have have much experience at all with lithography but we couldn't just leave it out in the course of discussing the different forms. In this episode of All About Printmaking, Phil and Amy discuss the printmaking form of Stencil. The most familiar method of stencil is, of course, serigraphy, or silk-screen. The matrix is formed by creating a stencil onto a mesh fabric which is stretched over a frame of metal or wood. When ink is squeegeed through the fabric onto paper, fabric, metal, or virtually any kind of material the image is printed onto that material.
