One thing about human nature is that it is easy to take things for granted, especially living in the modern-day era with advanced science, personal hygiene products, tele-communications technologies, and so forth. However, life is still not easier in certain parts of the world, even with the comforts of civilized society and technological advancement (political strife, food shortages, lack of adequate sewage systems and potable drinking water, etc.). Today we discuss the human lottery, which is essentially the chance of existing when and where you are, and how important it is to be mindful and aware of where you fit into the human lottery. For example, being born into the upper echelons of Canada, China, Japan, or the USA in the 1990s beats being born as a peasant in the 1300s in Britain during the Black Plague.
