Ever feel like you’re alone in your struggles and no one can understand your struggle? In today’s episode we are joined by Robert Bonke, a former General Motors factory worker and man living behind a fake mask of stoicism and “manliness.” We discuss:

  • Things that are holding people back at a young age from becoming their best selves sooner rather than later in life
  • How Robert was wearing a mask for almost 30 years, and it wasn’t until later in life that he found his purpose, which is to help men live emotionally courageous and vulnerable - as he puts it: “vulnerageously.” Robert is achieving this through his podcast “Heart, Mind, and Emotion”
  • How everyone puts a mask on, and it’s the mask that they think people expect of them. The importance of needing to be our authentic selves and get out of our own heads with the stories we create for ourselves that make us get in our own way
  • Tools and tactics to help one move past their own insecurities and narratives they’ve created for fear of being judged (having a creative outlet and actively choosing to not care what others think of you)
  • The relevant lessons from the movie “The Breakfast Club” regarding self-esteem, internal struggle, and the importance of speaking up
  • The importance of finding mentors to help you unlock the potential within all of us
  • The importance of practicing gratitude when dealing with internal struggle
