It's always fascinating to catch up with someone who you have seen in a very long time. Carl Barnes is one such person. In the span of our conversation, we talked about how he plans out his professional life, what motivates him, addressing privilege, and the importance of proper communication. Yes, we covered a lot, but the underlying theme seems to be self-awareness. Barnes stresses the importance of knowing who you are and what you're about.
Lots of "aha" moments in this episode because we're so different. Learned a lot. Thanks so much Barnes for being a part of this. I can safely say you've come a long way from that being that kid I met back in SDSU :)
Hope you guys enjoy this episode and please check out Barnes' podcasts: "The RD2Be Podcast" and "One Man's Trash" (both are on Spotify).

How does one balance being a progressive and still respecting traditions? Dawn Marie Castro, from The Young Feminists Collective and Pilipina, gave us some insight on how she balances those two in her relationship/marriage (and in life in general) . We sometimes encounter people who see things in black or white, but I'm glad to know people like Dawn, who sees life as the colorful beautiful (sometimes messy) learning experience that it is. Oh, and of course we had to talk about her love life. That's just a given :)

Healing comes in waves so you have to be kinder to yourself when riding those waves. In this episode, my good friend Breanna Keller (phoenix and amazing woman) shared her experience with getting divorced and starting over in her 20s. She emphasized the importance of self love, mental health, watching out for red flags, and trusting our sense resilience. I learned so much from this chat and I hope you do too. Thank you again, Bree. You're amazing!

We've all heard it over and over again: We have to love ourselves first. Self Love and caring for yourself looks different for everybody. In this episode, Amore Machin shared her self love journey. It definitely takes a continuous practice. I'm so proud of this chica right here. Through serious talks and laughs, we hope we you get value out of this conversation. We hope that it helps you in your journey in being a little less wrong than yesterday.

The title of this episode is meant to pay homage to Kyle McSpadden's favorite authors (a nod to trees and linguistics). It also best describes my friend's journey -- learning important life lessons from his parents, fulfilling a dream of living in Asia, and moving back to start a family in California. We also got all serious and discussed what it truly means to be there for your partner during life's most difficult phases.
Kyle and I don't get to chat very often anymore, but I always learn something new when we do.

With all the noise and responsibilities we have in life, how do we figure out and remain true to who we are? In this episode, DK Fontamillas (one of the most amazing humans in the world) talks to us about how she maintains who she is with the help of her strong support system. We talk about her role as a wife, mom, sister, friend, and advocate while still being herself. Yes, this episode is a bit longer than usual, but if you stick around you'll find out how Sisqo played a profound role in the birth of her second child :)

I got to catch up with one of the busiest, hardworking, boss bitches I know -- Shebana Alqaseer. We talked about how she picked her advocacy (gender equality), the search for work-life balance, family influence, and the importance of allowing ourselves and others to change.

Welcome to the first episode of this podcast where I chat with some of the most interesting people in my life. In this episode, I chat with the woman who started it all - my mom. We talk about moving away from home, finding love, parenting, and how to not give a shit about what other people think. We laughed (a lot) and yes, I even cried a bit. Life is a learning experience and what better way to reflect on this experience than having an honest conversation with the woman who gave me my life.
