「These Moses the servant of the Lord

　and the children of Israel had conquered;

　and Moses the servant of the Lord had given it

　as a possession to the Reubenites,」　　Amen.

　The names of two kings east of the Jordan River and thirty-one kings west of it are inscribed. These are the names of conquered kings. The land first conquered eastward was given as an inheritance to the tribes of Reuben, Gad, and half the tribe of Manasseh. This happened just as they were about to set out to conquer the western lands. Though it threatened to shatter their fighting spirit and demoralize the soldiers, they managed to overcome it by fighting together. They defeated all thirty-one kings and secured God's promise. On the cross, Jesus declared, “It is finished,” and gave up His spirit. He bore all our sins as our substitute.
