Journalist Mandy Matney, who has closely covered the Beach v. Parker’s “outrage” lawsuit, became part of the legal battle when attorneys for Parker’s Corporation subpoenaed her for a deposition.Matney did not appear at the location specified in the subpoena, citing safety concerns that she raised shortly before the deposition was scheduled to begin. According to court filings and testimony, Matney believed the designated location was unsafe. The parties were unable to agree on an alternative location, resulting in the deposition not taking place.Following her failure to appear, Parker’s attorneys filed a motion to compel her deposition and later sought to have her held in contempt of court. The court was asked to determine whether Matney’s reasons for not attending were legally justified and whether her actions warranted sanctions or other consequences.
The " professor", Matt Siembieda, joins Impact to shed light on this battle.
