E384 - Caleb's Crossing 1776-2026 Straight Rye Whiskey
You've heard us talk with David Jennings in past episodes about Caleb's Crossing bourbon and rye. For this week's short, we taste and review the brand new limited-edition release (only 370 bottles) from Caleb's Crossing Whiskey Company which is the 1776-2026 Kentucky Straight Rye Whiskey. Curated by our friend David Jennings, it features a blend of hand-selected barrels combining a traditional 95/5 rye mash bill with an experimental 100% rye. The whiskey is 8 years old and comes in at 110.76 proof. How does this one taste? You'll have to listen to find out. David has already done some amazing stuff with relatively new brand and we can't wait to see what he does in the future.-------------------------SocialsIG: https://www.instagram.com/themashupkyFB: https://www.facebook.com/themashupkyYouTube: https://www.youtube.com/@themashupkyJoin our community on Patreon: https://www.patreon.com/TheMashUpBourbonPodcastPartnership(s)Visit Bourbonoutfitter.com and enter code THEMASHUP for a special discount or visit bourbonoutfitter.com/THEMASHUPMusic: All the Fixings by Zachariah HickmanThank you so much for listening!

E383 - A. Smith Bowman Cask Strength Bourbon (Batch #5)
The A. Smith Bowman Distillery is Virginia's oldest operating whiskey distillery, founded in 1934 in Fairfax County just after the end of Prohibition. Now located in Fredericksburg, Virginia, it has become famous for it's award winning bourbons and it's association with Sazerac/Buffalo Trace. In the life of the podcast, we've never tasted or reviewed any Bowman product. However, in this episode we dive straight into the annual limited "cask strength" release. While we seldom see this bottle in our area - one of our community members (Kevin) sent us this bottle to review. So join us this week as we taste this highly sought after whiskey and the fellas roast Anthony and his recent trip to French Lick. -------------------------SocialsIG: https://www.instagram.com/themashupkyFB: https://www.facebook.com/themashupkyYouTube: https://www.youtube.com/@themashupkyJoin our community on Patreon: https://www.patreon.com/TheMashUpBourbonPodcastPartnership(s)Visit Bourbonoutfitter.com and enter code THEMASHUP for a special discount or visit bourbonoutfitter.com/THEMASHUPMusic: All the Fixings by Zachariah HickmanThank you so much for listening!

E382 - New Era (NEWS) Experimental Laser Beam: Operation Successful
If you've listened to the podcast, you've heard us mention how legendary Brad Williams is when it comes to Liquor Barn store picks. In this short, we taste and review a brand new Liquor Barn store pick that comes from NEWS (New Era Whiskey and Social Club). This bourbon is 11 years old, is 135.2 proof, and carries a mashbill of 71% corn, 21% rye, and 4% malted barley. It's rumored to be Beam distillate, but we don't know that for sure. One thing is certain - we'll give you our honest review of this single barrel selection and also comment on what we feel might be on the horizon for the NDP market this year. Cheers y'all.

E381 - Four Roses Anthology: Chapter 1 (Origin)
Four Roses Anthology is an ultra-premium annual bourbon collection that recently saw its first release which is called Chapter One: Origin and the liquid in the bottle is 21-years old. Pulled from a variety of single barrels and priced at $500 - this stands as the oldest release in the distillery's history. If you've been paying attention, then you know we already did a fresh crack of this on YouTube. However, we wanted to put this bourbon through it's paces. Therefore, in this episode, we blind it against King of Kentucky, Russell's 15, Austin Nichols Archives Gold Foil, and an old Elijah Craig Batch 10 Barrel Proof (pirate bottle). What will come out on top? You've have to listen to find out.

E380 - Corking Off! W/ Kyle & Russell's Reserve 13 (Eddie's 45th Anniversary)
We originally met Kyle on a barrel pick for Bluegrass Liquor Box. A few months ago, Kyle burst onto the bourbon media scene with his eclectic and hilarious social media bourbon review series called "Corking Off! W/ Kyle." In addition to his own show, Kyle has also been cohosting "This is My Bourbon Podcast" with our friend Perry Ritter. In this episode, we talk with Kyle about his bourbon journey and the inspiration behind his comedic bourbon reviews. We also sip on quite a few pours. Just when we thought the episode was coming to a close, Kyle decided to "cork off" the brand new Russell's Reserve 13 year. So, what started as a fun interview ends with one of our standard bottle reviews of a very exciting new bottle. We were lucky to call Kyle a friend before he started making us laugh on social media. Definitely check him out on YouTube and Instagram (@corkingoff).

This 2026 release continues the series of high age and proof annual releases from Heaven Hill that began a few years ago. But, how does it taste? More importantly, how does it hold up in a surprise blind? So join us as we laugh and joke through tasting one of this years most sought after limited edition bourbons. E378 - Old Forester 117 Series High Angels' Share Rye
Old Forester High Angels' Share Rye released in March 2026 as part of their limited The 117 Series. Out of all the bottles we've reviewed from this series, this is definitely one of the most unique. Rumored to contain 12 year old whiskey, this 110-proof Kentucky straight rye was pulled from rare barrels that suffered exceptionally high evaporation loss, leaving behind a highly concentrated, rich flavor profile. We've gotten all kind of different tasting notes on rye whiskey, but the major note that we all got on this pour was equally surprising and pleasing. Tune into this short to find out what that tasting note is and ultimately what we thought of this rye whiskey.

E377 - Midyear Review and Listener Blinds
For this week's Friday episode, we decided to tackle some listener blinds and do a midyear update. We discuss favorite things we've tasted this year, memorable episodes, and speculate on bourbon trends. There are a host of other topics that we get into as well. E376 - New Era (NEWS) "Cherry Cola Catastrophe"
Back in episode 278, we interviewed Zane Brammell and he foreshadowed the all the wonderful things on the horizon for New Era Whiskey. In this episode, we taste and review a single barrel pick called from NEWS called "Cherry Cola Catastrophe." This short barrel of sourced bourbon was picked by a private club, but we recently obtained it when Jason went to the soft opening of the New Era tasting room and social club right here in Lexington, Kentucky. We've been big fans of all things NEWS. How will we fill about this pick? Join us for this short and get some great info on a place you will want to visit on your next trip to the commonwealth.

E375 - Wild Turkey Austin Nichols Archives Gold Foil Edition & More!
The Wild Turkey Austin Nichols Archives Collection is a limited-edition annual series led by Associate Master Blender Bruce Russell. The inaugural release is the Gold Foil Edition, a 16-year-old, 120-proof (60% ABV) non-chill filtered bourbon. Retailing at about $400, it pays homage to vintage, highly sought-after 1980s and 90s "Cheesy Gold Foil" releases. This whiskey is exciting enough on it's own, but we must blind. Ever since the Gold Foil Edition came out, we've all been asked how it compares to other recent sought after Wild Turkey releases. So, here it is, the new Gold Foil Edition blinded against Beacon, Russell's 15, and WT Generations. Spoiler alert: the results weren't consistent across the board, but they were pretty compelling. So join for this episode as we taste and talk about some of the best modern Turkey releases compare to one another. We also give you our full take on Gold Foil;-------------------------SocialsIG: https://www.instagram.com/themashupkyFB: https://www.facebook.com/themashupkyYouTube: https://www.youtube.com/@themashupkyJoin our community on Patreon: https://www.patreon.com/TheMashUpBourbonPodcastPartnership(s)Visit Bourbonoutfitter.com and enter code THEMASHUP for a special discount or visit bourbonoutfitter.com/THEMASHUPMusic: All the Fixings by Zachariah HickmanThank you so much for listening!
