Please come back!!!
This podcast was recommended by a therapist. I started listening to different episodes that spoke to me. Although, I’m not a deeply religious person I still feel you can get something out of listening to their sound and well thought conversations. My partner and I may not make it through this rough time, but I am at least I can move forward and find some peace while diving into some introspection.

Your pod cast woke me up!
My name is Isaac I am the one who had an affair on my wife and I didn’t even know how bad I was hurting her until I listened to multiple podcasts but most of all yours! You covers so many actions I have acted out on her! Thank you for your time and energy to help me grow even if we never reconcile our marriage! You both rock and are appreciated!

I love this couple and their combined wisdom!
Caleb & Verlynda have become like close friends for me. I am grateful to this candid, optimistic and caring husband and wife for their edifying Christian perspectives. Learning from their knowledge, research, and experience turns my commute into a spiritual journey and each day I arrive to work and to home as a better person. Update: I wrote the review above several years ago and it looks like in 2020 they stopped producing these. I miss them so much! It was one of my top favorites and I’m still re-listening to old episodes and still learning from them.

My husband and I recently hit a rough patch and this podcast has been such a blessing! A married friend couple recommended OYF to us and expressed that it has been very helpful in their relationship. We listen to episodes on our own then reflect on them together to compare take aways. We are learning and understanding so much about ourselves and eachother. I hope there are more episodes to come. It is a relief to realize we are not alone in our struggles. Thank you for being a light in the dark spaces of marriage.

Informative podcast
I’ve been enjoying listening to this podcast until today. He is so knowledgeable and his voice is also pleasant. However, his wife’s laughing sound is extremely loud and distracting so I had to turn the volume down almost every episodes.

Good content, but…
What is being said is helpful, buuutttt I can not stand to listen to this podcast because of the wife frequently saying “alright, ok, k, ya, ohhh, mhm, yup” like just be quiet or say a sentence. 😩 So annoying and distracting.

Power dynamics of host is off-putting
Good info, but I get the feeling verlynda is playing dumb so that she can make Caleb feel smart. (A lot of us women learned this behavior growing up). The power dynamics feel so unequal, like she’s a kid who’s bad at school and he’s trying to teach her math and bemused at how naive confused she is. i would love to hear Verlynda do her own research and present the info with Caleb listening. Or perhaps Caleb could just host this alone.

Thank you
I love the banter between the two of you. You are modeling teamwork, forgiveness, vulnerability and so many other valuable lessons just in observing your dialouge. I love the research based aspect of the content. It becomes not just an opinion of one but something larger and it becomes harder to deny the truth of something when that is present. You have already made a huge difference in my life. My wife and I are struggling after her infidelity. We can't seem to get on the right track because everytime I want to talk about it she shuts down. Your episodes on attachment and EFT have been a revelation. I do beleive that we need to better understand our attachment styles before we can make any serious progress. I certainly don't have it figured out because everytime I try to discuss attachment styles she shuts down (Lol). I have approached her with the idea that we should try EFT with a therapist to get us moving in a more positive direction. So far, there has been no response. Hopeful that she will willingly be open to and pursue this with me. My choice would be to work with Caleb as I believe she will respect him and his approach. She is terrified of being blamed as it strikes her shame demon and puts her on the defensive. Thank you again for your tremendous insights.

We are enjoying this podcast so much
This podcast is a real blessing. We just signed up for and finished the first lesson of the first module of the communication course as well. My husband and I listen to several episodes daily.

God’s truth is always true...
I stumbled across your podcast several months ago and have enjoyed it so very much! My husband and I have hit some really hard times, and along with counseling, we have used your podcasts (and support resources) as tools for learning, practicing new skills, and improving our intimacy THROUGH the storm and struggles. As a theologian (the shorter way or saying I have a terminal degrees in theology and biblical studies) I truly value the way you’re able to synthesis God’s unchanging truths with the complexities of sin, marriage and unique circumstances. I wholeheartedly believe answers for every question can be found in scripture, and I appreciate that your counsel, when measured against that standard, proves consistent and faithful. And you make it FUN and palpable for marriages at any stage. THANK YOU! I have shared this with other couples and will continue to do so. Keep up the great ministry!!

Excellent marriage podcast
It may sound pretentious, but this really is “the marriage podcast for smart [smaht] people.” I listen to a number of marriage podcasts (and enjoy them). This one goes the deepest into the psychology of marital relationships. That’s NOT to say that it’s all theory. I find that it’s practical and provides genuinely useful information on the topics discussed.

Impressive
My marriage has been struggling. I’ve sought out countless resources and so far this is the best. Great information, actionable items, ways to do self-reflection, and ways to help your spouse. The love for my wife has only increased by listening and applying what I have learned. It’s given me hope that my marriage can be saved and I’ll be using their counseling services soon.

so thankful! (from tru and marisa)
we’ve been experiencing a lot of confusion in our relationship with what we were truly facing and experiencing, and your podcast has explained so much, and helped us learn more about ourselves, our relationship, and why we act the way we do which has brought us a better understanding of one another. i couldn’t be more thankful to have ran into your podcast. you inspire us and so many others to keep going.

Love the show and verlynda is too judgemental
Helpful and solid show. However, I’ve been listening for several years and noticed a trend that verlynda is a shamer and lacks compassion, particularly around sexual infidelity. Im no expert but it seems to be opposite of the Christlike framework they mention. Appreciate Caleb’s neutral approach.

Keeps on giving
Age 57 and working on 2nd marriage... Great info that only applies to my situations randomly, but i love to listen just to hear people with good communication skills talk about anything. Kind of like if you have a good voice, you could make singing the phone book sound good!

Great Advice
So glad I found this podcasts, helps me understand and process a lot of questions I have had. Easy and fun to listen to

Great practical marriage advice!
I like all of the easily-digestible tidbits of wisdom in this podcast! It’s a great way to boost any marriage, and it’s free! I appreciated the episode on dealing with a narcissistic spouse, and I think it would be great to follow it up with an episode on spouses with Borderline Personality Disorder. I’ve had a lot of experience in that arena, and it has been quite a challenge! Also, to follow up on your episodes on abuse, perhaps you could have an episode on false accusations of abuse. Being falsely accused of abuse can be as traumatic as being abused, and I think it’s a situation that a lot of men find themes in.

Brilliant Podcast
Thank you for all the wisdom, insights , the pleasant exchanges! They say “love [alone] can’t save a marriage, but knowledge does,” and thank you so much for the information and knowledge shared. Love it!!!

Great podcast for married couples.
Best podcast for married couples trying to improve their marriage. I’ve found episodes that address a wide variety of issues, this is my favorite podcast on marriage I’ve found.

Insightful and Informative
I found the marriage podcast for smart people while looking for insight into my dysfunctional marriage. They deliver so effectively, touching on necessary and tough topics. Topics that are especially hard to find in Christian settings. Thanks guys!

As a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist I think this podcast is clear, concise, research and proven modality based, and fun to listen to. I will use it in my own marriage and both refer to it and recommend it to my couples.

Tackles tough subjects with grace and sensitivity
I have been listening to these podcasts for about a month- I am so impressed with how hard subjects are tackled with sensitivity and practicality, and loads of dry humor! Caleb and Verlynda talk about things that many don’t want to talk about. So grateful for these podcasts. It has given me insight, and challenged me to be better.

Great podcast on marital issues
This was exactly what I was looking for. The topics are spot on. I’m glad to get research based info, and the show is bite sized enough to keep my husband’s attention. I have to agree that the announcer is just awful and detracts from otherwise normal, non irritating voices. It’s like Winona Ryder trying to fake an overly annunciated British accent with a terrible head cold. It’s really intolerable considering you have to listen to her 3 times each episode. The hosts are great though!

Solid Marital Advice and Help
My husband and I have had a tumultuous marriage from the start with terrible family dynamics and our own strong personalities butting heads. Over the years we withdrew from each other, essentially roommates, but stayed together for the sake of the children. We created a lot of hurt and trauma over the years but despite all odds and God’s grace, we are celebrating our 15th anniversary this year. Your podcast has shed so much light on our ourselves, our marriage and provided solid advice on life and overcoming issues. We are actively working to fully restore and renew our marriage. Thank you for providing us hope for a better and stronger marriage! We’re on our way there!

Information is outstanding, who is that announcer?
My husband and I recently separated and I’ve been devouring this info to learn more about myself. It’s because of this podcast that I opted for a therapeutic separation instead of divorce. I really enjoy and appreciate the content and production value. The one thing that is really distracting is the announcer who also does the Patreon commercial. I can’t quite place her accent (South African maybe?) but it sounds like a fake voice my friends and I would do as kids trying to imitate British people. I just turn down the volume when she’s talking. As an American I find their Canadian accents endearing. Thanks for a great show!

Very insightful series
I recently started listening to your podcast after realizing that my marriage was not in a great place after only 4 years married. We have been together for six years now and over time I have come to realize that I feel more and more I do not know my spouse at all. Seeking advice on how to improve my relationship I came across your podcast. I have listened to many episodes and in each and every one I get great advice and can relate aspects of the show to my own relationship. I often send my husband the same podcast by sharing it via text message so that he can listen as well. The recent shows on cognitive bias were fabulous and I suffer from mood and confirmation bias. I felt like you were giving examples of me. I listen to your series on my days off and while I am getting dressed in the morning for work. I live apart from my husband due to work and only see him every three months so working on myself while living apart I hope helps when I return home and we live together again in 2020. Thank you again for what you are doing and keep up the great research to help those of us that seek research based advice from experts like yourself. Respectfully, Karie D. Montana, USA

This a great podcast with actionable tips to help you “keep that loving feeling”. And they are a fun couple with light hearted banter.

More from Verlynda
Like this show it’s clarity and balance. Room for growth—- I would like to see the wife’s role here expanded beyond supportive and summative. I bet she has more wisdom than is exhibited here.

The best marriage podcast out there!!!
Caleb and Verlynda are the best! Lots of sound research based advice. So much great content. My husband and I have listened to so many of you podcasts, over and over. We have great discussions and they have been instrumental in helping us in our marriage to grow closer to each other. Accurate and Encouraging!
I’m new to podcasts and to OYF but I cannot get enough of Caleb and Verlynda! Their wisdom and advice are well researched, calmly and openly expressed, and so very true! I began my search for podcasts to improve my marriage and family life and landed here. After my first listen I knew I would stick around. I found a few episodes specific to recent situations and struggles in my life and, once, was even brought to tears as I listened and recognized myself in a stage Caleb was describing. Thank you for the sound advice and information, for the tips and explanations provided in each episode. You are helping me process issues in myself and issues in my marriage and ways to restore and improve my relationship with my spouse. I cannot recommendation this podcast enough!

I just can’t get enough!
Yes, that’s a chorus line from an 80s pop song. And it also may sound like the title of an episode addressing some type of addiction, but in the sense that I mean- well... maybe it actually is my own case of addiction... I might just be addicted to your podcast! So, can you do an episode on that issue? 😉 But seriously, I do feel like there aren’t enough hours in my day to be able to listen to all of the past episodes, while going back to re-listen and take notes on the countless episodes that seem written for me (or my spouse, or both of us). I recently became a patron, so I now face another sense of overwhelming goodness- in the wealth of bonus material. I’m provided with so many helpful resources, like a filing cabinet overflowing with essential documents and evidence critical to solving a cold-case mystery (that’s the way my struggling marriage can often seem). Just when I’m ready to throw in the towel on persevering and putting in the hours to “crack the code”, another episode with key insights emerges from the filling cabinet. Your efforts are clearly led and blessed by God. No doubt, He has used you, and continues to use you to help restore weak and, or failing marriages, as well as to positively impact the lives of individuals struggling with doubt and despair. I’m sure there are other wives like me (or perhaps husbands, too) who listen alone, in hopes that God will help us persevere in endlessly laboring for our marriage (which at times, may mean that we’re carrying this very heavy load uphill all alone). Still, with God’s faithfulness, His loving right hand holding mine, and the tools that you provide through your podcast “lessons” and the bonus materials, I believe my marriage has a fighting chance. If I can get out of the way and let God lead me (submit to Him as He works on my character through this guidance), He can and will restore to me the joy of my marriage and renew it as one that brings Him glory. This is the hope that your podcast (and God’s Word) gives me! Thank you both! Lifting up prayers of gratitude for your commitment to your mission!

Episode 129,130...
I am very excited to re-listen to these episodes. I wanted to know if you could do an episode on being the spouse and the “do’s and don’ts” of what to do when your spouse has been sexually abused?
Dave12282000
Hosts are worst part
I may be the minority on this but I literally cringe at her “ohh, ok, ahh, ya “ additions to every comment. It’s like fake surprise or fake interest in what was said. And he sounds almost degrading to her by correcting her or not letting her talk. The actual topics aren’t bad but I’m not sure I can handle anymore episodes .

You guys are so easy and fun to listen
I love listening to you! I love that you guys are a couple and yins to your yans. I could do with out the religious but even even talking about faith is helpful. I am currently separated trying to deal with a husband that I suspect is alcoholic, dealing with my own trust issues all while being a mom of 3 little ones. I am a devoted fan, I take so much information from your programs and I look foward to carpooling and any type of stand since I discovered you! Keep up the amazing work! You have helped me so much... I even share your episodes with my life coach, husband and friends. Xo

Absolute Best Marriage Podcast Ever!!
Absolutely my favorite podcast! I feel as if I’ve outgrown other marriage podcasts as in I think my views on marriage and sexuality are often healthier than the hosts. But this one is tried and true! They both have great laughs and I love the way they tease each other while tackling all the real issues in marriages. The messages and research are great! Such healthy views on marriage and sexuality! Thank you Caleb and Verlynda! Cannot thank you enough for putting these healthier perspectives out there. You’ve helped me through some dark times in my marriage and now that I’m in the light, you continue to be a huge blessing and a breath of fresh air to listen to every week!

Loving this podcast
Found this scrolling on iTunes for a good listen. Been bindge-listening to these podcasts everyday when I pick my kids up from school. I write down little notes at the end and share with my husband what I felt was valuable. I can honestly say, I feel a change in the way we BOTH view our marriage. Thanks so much! Been recommending to my friends. Can’t wait for the next podcast!

Wonderful Guidance
Over the last year I have listened to this podcast and learned lots of useful things. The balance of research and practical application ideas is great. The interaction between the hosts is real and wonderful. They have taught me lots!

Too preachy
Is it so hard to make a marriage podcast that isn’t overly and painfully religious? Their fixation on the evils of porn is especially annoying.

New Tricks
OYF is teaching this old dog some new tricks! I have been married and in ministry for 30 years and absolutely love the fresh approach that Caleb and Verlynda bring to the journey of marriage. I am in overnight truck driver and have been binge listening since I discovered the podcast a few weeks ago. I just finished the episode on cell phone addiction – ouch! I share episodes with my sons in law to encourage and challenge them as well. Thank you for the intellectual challenge with a lighthearted approach.
