I am back with another quick tip episode.  These episodes have tips or strategies you can use to help you grow your online business so you can have a bigger impact and increase your revenue in the process.    Today we’re diving into what a lead magnet is and how to create an effective one. It’s something that a lot of people find overwhelming, but I’m telling you now, it doesn’t have to be that complicated!    When we say “high converting” lead magnet, that’s really all relative. What’s high converting for one person, might not be for another. Like so many things in business, it’s all about figuring out your own audience and what they need! Once you’ve figured out what it is they need and how to give it to them, congrats! You have everything you need to create a successful lead magnet!    In this episode I’m sharing with you the four questions that you should ask yourself when creating a lead magnet, whether this is your first or fiftieth attempt. We’re also talking about what a lead magnet is, why they still have value today, and how to figure out what converts best for you.    If you’ve been wondering how to set up your own lead magnet, or how to get better results from one you already have, this is the episode you’ve been waiting for!   If you’re a course creator, an online coach, or maybe you have a membership site and you're ready for a consistent five or six-figure months, but you're not sure what you should be doing to get there, I want to invite you to apply for my newly up-leveled monthly accelerator coaching and mastermind program. It’s now open by application only, so to learn more or apply, go to rickmulready.com/accelerator.

Do you feel like you need permission to say that you have an idea worth committing to? Are you trying to prove to yourself and others that you have value? Imagine how free you would feel if those thoughts weren’t holding you back.   Today’s guest, Melissa Webb, felt like she needed permission. She even asked for my permission, and you know what I told her? Of course you have my permission but you don’t NEED it. Lifting that mindset block changed everything. She went from trying to please everyone and doing way too much, to offering a simplified service to an audience she truly wanted to serve.   Melissa Webb creates online writing communities to support and encourage families in home education. She is the owner and creator of Write On! Melissa is a published children's book author and a co-host on The Mel & Kel Show podcast.   Melissa is a former teacher who left the classroom to start an online business teaching writing to home school teachers. I asked her to join me today to share her journey from making money as a side hustle to going full time with her business, and the struggles that she's faced along the way. From mindset blocks to moving beyond referrals and creating a predictable stream of leads in sales.   On Today’s Show You’ll Learn: How Melissa transitioned from teaching to starting an online course How to stop asking for permission Why you should take time to reflect on where you’ve been The problem with trying to please everyone, and how to stop How changing your mindset will grow your business Why simplifying your offers will attract more business The importance of thinking about your thinking How Melissa overcame fear around using Facebook and Instagram ads How hiring help can prepare you to handle growth   If you’re ready to stop asking for permission and break down those mindset blocks, this is the episode for you! It’s time to stop trying to prove yourself, and start scaling the business you really want!   If you're an online expert like Melissa, and you'd like my help taking your online business to the next level, I invite you to apply for my new monthly accelerator coaching and mastermind program. If you're an online expert who has already achieved a certain level of success, but you’re not sure how to get to the next level, what you don’t need is another course or more books to read. You need a cohesive growth strategy, coaching, support, accountability and community. Apply now for my monthly accelerator program at www.rickmulready.com/accelerator. I am back with another quick tip episode.  These episodes have tips or strategies you can use to help you grow your online business so you can have a bigger impact and increase your revenue in the process.  Today we are talking about how to optimize your funnel by working smarter, not harder. So many people think that the more they offer in their business, the higher their revenue will be, but that could not be further from the truth. The key is to simplify. You really want your business to be focused on one primary offer.  We are looking at the example of an evergreen funnel belonging to accelerator student Kerry, and how we were able to pinpoint where he was losing sales and fix it. If there’s one thing I want you to take away from this episode, it’s that you need to use the data, not your emotions, to make decisions and drive your business.

If you’ve been wanting to get to know me a little better behind the scenes, now is the time! Today we’re celebrating our 400th episode by having my wife, Amy on the show.  Between The Art of Online Business Podcast and my original podcast, Inside Social Media, I have recorded over 452 episodes.  Pretty crazy! We wanted to do something a little different to celebrate episode 400, so today I will be answering questions that we gathered from you on Instagram as well as a few from my wife and team. This is the first episode Amy and I have ever done together and I will admit, I was nervous.  We talk about a lot of things I have never talked about on the podcast before- my struggles with anxiety and depression and how it’s affected my business.  I talk about one of the deepest points in my life and it’s a story I have never shared publicly before.   On today’s episode, you will get a peek into what a “typical” day looks like in the Mulready household.  We talk about our relationship and how we have navigated sharing an at-home workspace, how we separate our work from our personal life, and how becoming new parents affected all of that. On Today’s Show You’ll Learn: The story of how I met my wife and what our first impressions of each other were Some of our favorite memories and places to travel together How we try to create work-life balance What a typical day/week looks like for me The hardest thing about switching from a corporate job into entrepreneurship How long it took for me to feel like I’d “made it” How struggles with anxiety and depression have affected both of us The one thing I would change in my business journey if I could go back in time The single most impactful mindset shift that I made in the way I relate to success in business How to be a new dad and run a business Be sure to tune in to today’s special episode! I am back with another quick tip episode.  These episodes have tips or strategies you can use to help you grow your online business so you can have a bigger impact and increase your revenue in the process.  Today we are talking about the fear of failure.  Many people are afraid of failing, including myself.  Over the past few years, I’ve realized that the fear of failure is one of the biggest things holding my business back from impacting more people and growing to a level that I know it can.  When you are afraid of failing, you tend to play small, you play not to lose, instead of playing to win.  What if failing is exactly what you need to do in order to grow your business more quickly?  Growth in your business comes from trying new things and taking risks.  Some things are going to work and others won’t.  The important thing is to figure out what does work and do more of that and continue to move forward when it doesn’t.   Are you holding yourself back because you aren’t sure how to scale your business?  Are you afraid of failure? If you have been thinking about joining a mastermind, I encourage you to check out my newly leveled up accelerator mastermind.  What you think is keeping you from growing your online business is not actually the problem.  I see it time and time again.  You need to make the transition from stuck online entrepreneur to an Optimized CEO.   My accelerator mastermind will have you thinking differently and thinking bigger about your business, your team, and your vision so you can create more freedom in your life.  To find out more and to apply head to www.rickmulready.com/accelerator. Don’t forget to reach out on Instagram @rickmulready and let me know what challenges you are setting for yourself.  I want to hear about your failures-- and hear about how your business is growing more quickly as a result.

I am back with another quick tip episode.  These episodes have tips or strategies you can use to help you grow your online business so you can have a bigger impact and increase your revenue in the process.  I was recently on a podcast and was asked what the number one thing I would say is responsible for my business growth.  I thought it was such a good question, so I wanted to cover this very topic here on the podcast. The short answer: connections.  And I am not talking about old school networking and handing out business cards. I am talking about making connections with people with sincere intentions.  You should be thinking about making connections with the thought of “how can I add value to this person” with zero expectations of anything in return.  Going to events is a great way to meet like-minded people.  I make it a point to go to conferences and events year after year.  Another way, which is one of my favorites, is to make connections through a mastermind.  This is a great way to go deep with a smaller group of people.  You can bounce ideas off one another, affiliate for each other, and expand your network through each other’s connections. Tune in to find out more about the #1 key to the hockey stick growth I’ve had in my business over the last 6 and a half years.   Wondering how you can level up your business? If you have been thinking about joining a mastermind, I encourage you to check out my newly leveled up accelerator mastermind.  Like we covered on today’s show, masterminds are a great way to make new connections and meet new people who share similar goals for business success.  What you think is keeping you from growing your online business is not actually the problem.  I see it time and time again.  You need to make the transition from stuck online entrepreneur to what I like to call the Optimized CEO.   My accelerator mastermind will have you thinking differently and thinking bigger about your business, your team, and your vision so you can create more freedom in your life.  To find out more and to apply head to rickmulready.com/accelerator.

Has your business peaked? Have you been wondering how you can break through your current numbers and take them higher? In this episode, Kwadwo is walking us through how he broke down the barriers that he had unknowingly set up for himself when he started out, and how he scaled his business to sizes that once seemed impossible. Kwdawo [QUĀY.jo] helps Mandarin-learners who are struggling to improve their Chinese by showing them how to clearly choose and easily achieve their language goals so they can build momentum and communicate with confidence. Tune in to learn how Kwadwo went from an unsustainable business model and some pretty intense burnout, to a business strong enough to survive being brought to a screeching halt after the coronavirus outbreak. If you’ve noticed that your numbers have started to level out instead of continuing to grow, Kwadwo might have a thing or two to teach you.   On Today’s Show You’ll Learn: How he set up an entire business through DMs and targeted ads The process of learning how to use YouTube effectively How he reached 11,000 YouTube subscribers and 26,000 Instagram followers The value of recognizing when it’s time to switch niches Why you need to understand your ideal avatar and their pain points How to overcome burnout How the accelerator program propelled his business How to confront and overcome your doubts Why you should outsource if you can How to persist and adapt to massive change   Kwadwo’s story is both humbling and inspiring. I’m amazed by his resilience and determination to succeed. And succeed he has! Which just goes to show that persistence does pay off. It’s been a privilege to work with Kwadwo in the accelerator and see how it’s changed his life. The program has been completely revamped and up-leveled since Kwadwo was a part of it, so if you want to see how it can change YOUR life, head to rickmulready.com/accelerator to learn more.   Links & Resources Mentioned in this Episode: https://www.instagram.com/elementarychinese/ https://www.youtube.com/elementarychinese

Have you been wondering what the heck is going on with Facebook Messenger marketing? In the past, it was all the rage, and everyone seemed to be talking about it. Recently, Facebook made changes about what you can and can not send within Messenger. It’s been a huge source of confusion for people, myself included.   Although I have seen a considerable downturn in the number of advertisers using Messenger, it can still be an effective marketing channel.  Today I will be sitting down with Mike Yan who is the CEO and co-founder of Many Chat to get his take on what to expect with messenger marketing in 2020.  This episode will clear up a lot of questions that you have around Facebook Messenger marketing. Mike lays out a step-by-step plan of action that you can implement in your business and also breaks down the rules to provide clarity about the changes. He will reveal what the future holds for What’s App and Instagram, as well as what you should be doing now if you are ready to invest in Messenger for your business.   If you are an online expert and you’re looking for help to take your online business to the next level, I invite you to apply for my accelerator mastermind and coaching program. This program is for online experts such as coaches, consultants, and online educators who have already had success in their business but are ready to take it to the next level. I love taking you guys behind the scenes of things going on in my business, and in today’s episode, I am doing just that!  Today we are covering paid workshops, which is a concept that has been around forever, but this is the first time I am trying it for myself.  I created my first workshop earlier this year as I wanted to try something new.  I desired to keep it simple, yet I wanted to over-deliver on a topic for a small price.  Based on the feedback from the workshop, I believe I did just that!   I am breaking it all down for you -- from setting your goals, outlining content, creating a promotional strategy, and evaluating your workshop when it's over.  Launching a profitable paid workshop shouldn't be overwhelming. When you break it down to the must-haves, it becomes so much easier.  I was extremely happy with the results, so I am excited to share what worked, what didn’t, and how you can use paid workshops in your business.    I encourage you to look at the assets you have available that you can leverage, figure out how you want to promote it, and OVERDELIVER to your audience.  I think you'll be amazed at the results! If you are an online expert and you’re looking for help to take your online business to the next level, I invite you to apply for my accelerator mastermind and coaching program.  This program is for online experts such as coaches, consultants, and online educators who have already had success in their business, but are ready to take it to the next level.  My accelerator program is by application only, so if you are interested, head to https://rickmulready.com/accelerator.   On Today’s Show You’ll Learn About:  The importance of having a ripple effect  The psychology behind paid vs. free workshops and how it affects your show- up rates Setting sales and revenue goals for your workshop  The intention behind my paid workshop Pricing strategy to create urgency Simplifying your delegation process The four pillars of marketing I used to promote my workshop Creating a simple sales pitch The importance of doing a debrief after your workshop to evaluate what worked and what didn’t  The show-up rate and total sales of my workshop  What you can do with the assets you’ll create Who should try a paid workshop in their business Links & Resources Mentioned in this Episode: https://rickmulready.com/targetingworkshop Full show notes available at www.rickmulready.com/291

Welcome to another quick tip episode!  In today’s episode, I am revealing three mindset secrets of 6 and 7-figure entrepreneurs.  These key areas are ones I have been working on for years and continue to work on today.  I tell my accelerator students that the success of their businesses depends 80% on their mindset.   The three areas we will be diving into today:  Money  Our Thoughts  Commitment  These three key areas are ones successful business owners are constantly working and focusing on and I want you to do the same.   Let’s dive in……    Could I ask a favor?  If you have not left a rating and review on Apple Podcasts, I would be forever grateful if you would take a minute and do that.  Leaving a review allows us to reach more people who want to learn how to grow their online business too!

My guest on the show today calls herself one of my star students, and I definitely agree! Kaity Griffin successfully scaled an e-commerce business using Google Ads.   That’s when she realized she was more passionate about the Google Ads side of the business, which she says engaged both the creative and data-driven sides of her brain.     Kaity sold her e-commerce business and moved to a well-known Google Ads agency in Melbourne, Australia.  After her second child was born, she realized she had a desire to start her own business. Fast forward to today, and she is now an expert in Google AdWords and has built a multiple six-figure business in a short amount of time, all while having two kids under five.     Kaity runs a successful Google AdWords agency and has launched her course teaching Google Ads.  She is a “mum” who is very protective of her time and only works three days a week so she can be fully present with her kids.  Kaity reveals her big WHY (her family), which is the filter for everything she does in her business. I think many of you will relate to Kaity’s story, where she dives into how she has created a successful, streamlined business that she loves. On Today’s Show You’ll Learn About:    How Kaity started a business at an early age  Determining if you’re ready to jump from agency work to starting your own business Realizing that the perfect time to build your course is now Taking the hybrid approach to course creation Using a simple strategy to grow your email list quickly Structuring your day and week to balance work and family life Prioritizing your marriage while focusing on your business Shifting your mindset while working through a crisis Dealing with the struggles of having family and friends misjudge you  Doubling down on what’s working in your business

Today I’m really excited to be introducing you to my friend and member of Accelerator, Madison Doubroff. Madison is a functional movement coach and connective exercise specialist, and he has really pivoted his business to deal with these uncertain times, while achieving great success in the process. In fact, Madison has never been busier than he is right now in his business, and he has so many lessons to share that I knew I had to invite him to come on the podcast. When Madison joined Accelerator 6 months ago his big goal was to create a sales funnel to sell his higher-ticket offers. Recently he’s really dialed in his funnel by simplifying it, and he doesn’t do traditional “sales calls” to enroll new clients either. Madison leads with service and value, and it really shows with his 77% close rate – and he’s going to break it down for you here how he does this! You’ll hear the pricing strategies that Madison uses, the way that he overqualifies his leads, and the amazing things that can happen when you do this. If you’re wondering about pivoting your offer and messaging and really leading with value and service during these times, you’re going to get a lot from this episode! I’m starting a new 8-week group coaching program to offer support during these uncertain times, and you can register at https://rickmulready.com/strategysessions (available to the first 50 people who sign up). On the Show Today You’ll Learn:  Madison’s thought process around his pricing and the tiers of offers available The ways that his funnel has changed since joining Accelerator, and the steps we took to optimize and improve it Why Madison doesn’t use the term “sales call” (and what he calls them instead) The messaging he is using at this time, and the reason he feels it’s such an opportunity for businesses right now What results he’s seen by trusting his clients, and the process, and offering a “good faith policy” How Madison spends his days now that business is booming like never before

In an effort to help you lead your business in these times, I’ve been bringing some great guests on the show, and today is no different. My guest is Tarzan Kay, a former copywriter and online business owner who now helps people through her online courses and coaching programs. The last time Tarzan was a guest on the show, back in May 2019, she talked about how to create big revenue with a small email list. Today’s topic is something that is so important for online entrepreneurs, especially now, which is how to show up for your audience in an authentic way. We cover things like if we should be selling at this time, how to use urgency and scarcity the right way, what she sees happening in these uncertain times, and so much more! If you have a topic that you’d like me to cover on the podcast, as always please reach out to me by direct message on Instagram, @rickmulready. On the Show Today You’ll Learn: What Tarzan is grateful for right now, and why she feels it is the perfect time for us step up and be authentic with our audiences The messaging she’s been using, plus why she thinks online entrepreneurs are in a perfect position to help others right now What true scarcity looks like – and what it isn’t A breakdown of a recent launch of Tarzans that taught her many lessons How she’s really been able to grow her business so quickly What to remember if you want to show up in front of someone else’s audience

In this conversation Mel and I cover a lot of topics, including what we both think of selling to your audience right now, the opportunities that exist for us entrepreneurs to help the economy, plus his tips for navigating your short-term finances, long-term planning, and much more. Just last week I had my Accelerator live event, and I’m so grateful we came together as a group to discuss the challenges, and opportunities, that exist today. It’s taken me a few days to gather my thoughts about everything that’s going on in the world right now, but that live event reminded me that we’re all in this together, and we will get through these uncertain times and be stronger (and better) for it. I wanted to record this episode to give you some ideas about how you can lean in even more right now and authentically serve your audience from a place of love and service. It’s not going to be easy, but I truly believe that together we’ve got this! Look for more podcast episodes and daily Facebook Lives that I’ll be doing to talk more about the current situation we face, and to offer my support to each and every one of you any way that I can. On the Show Today You’ll Learn: How I’m feeling right now and the things I continue to work on personally What your audience is looking for right now, and the opportunity that exists for each of us The important things that you can control right now My recommendations for how you can best serve your audience during these times, and how I am doing this

Today I’m excited to be talking about how to systematize your online business so that you can not only scale it, but also to be able to take time away from your business. The key though is for you to be able to do this and still generate revenue while you’re away – and not have everything in your business fall apart! Joining me to share her expertise in this area is Sarah Noked, who’s an expert in helping online business owners scale their businesses using things like automation, systems, processes and team building. In this episode we dive deep into the 5 ways to use systems and teams to scale your online business, what a “virtual office” is, and why it’s a must have in your business. Sarah reveals the tools and strategies she uses in her own business, and so much more. Regardless of where you are at in your business right now, I’m certain that you are going to hear something today that you can immediately implement into your own business so that you can take a step away – and still have it flourish! My brand new live training on Facebook Pixels is happening March 23rd! This workshop is more for someone who is basic to intermediate, not advanced, and you won’t want to miss what I have to teach in this one. For all the details and to sign up, visit https://rickmulready.com/pixelworkshop. I also have exciting changes coming for my next Accelerator Mastermind, and you can apply today at https://rickmulready.com/accelerator! On the Show Today You’ll Learn: What an Online Business Manager (or “OBM”) is and the important role this person plays in an online business The reasons that being an OBM resonated so much with Sarah and how she got her start in the industry Why a “virtual office” and systems are must haves for any online business, and where to start getting them in place When Sarah feels is the best time to hire, and what’s holding back a lot of business owners from bringing on team members to support them The power of automation and her favorite things to automate in her own business What mindset is required to delegate and what to look for when hiring the right people for the jobs How you’ll know when you’re ready to step away from your business and to take time away

What I love most about Facebook and Instagram ads is that when you use them to grow an online business, they are a source of predictable leads and sales. That is the foundation of a scalable business, especially when combined with your organic efforts, such as social media, a podcast, blog or YouTube channel. What hold so many people from running ads though is the fear of losing money (and/or time!) and not having any results to show for it. Today’s guest is Nicole Burke, and you’re going to get a lot from her story of how she overcame this fear to run ads, and after figuring them out, she is now off to the races! In addition to running a brick and mortar business called Rooted Garden, which she started with only $400 and grew it to 6-figures in just one year, Nicole is the founder of Gardenary, the online platform that connects beginner and learning gardeners with experienced gardeners through courses, workshops, and garden coaching. Most of our conversation focuses on this business, and how Nicole grew it to over 6-figures as well, without the use of ads and by using super smart organic strategies, especially on Instagram. Now that Nicole has shifted her mindset on paid ads and is seeing great success by using them, the sky is the limit for her and I’m so excited to be sharing this conversation with you today. I hope you can use these lessons to grow your business, and let us Nicole and I know how the strategies she revealed work for you! Be on the lookout for my brand new live training on Facebook Pixels that is happening on March 23rd. This workshop is more for someone who is basic to intermediate, not advanced, and you won’t want to miss what I have to teach in this one. To stay in the loop, make sure you sign up to my email list at https://rickmulready.com/, and I’ll also be announcing some big changes to my Accelerator program kicking off in April! On the Show Today You’ll Learn: How Nicole fell in love with backyard gardening, and then created a business around it Why she moved to the online space, plus the pivotal role that Instagram played for her The big vision that Nicole has created for her life and business, and the way she is working backwards to achieve it all How she was able to go from a launch that generated just three sales to filling 35 spots in her membership in just a short period of time What she is doing to manage a business professional and personal life, while moving towards her long-term vision for the companies Four key strategies that Nicole has used to build her online community intentionally, including one powerful Instagram strategy that you’re going to want to give a try The challenges and limiting beliefs she faced in running Facebook ads and the way that Nicole has overcome them (with great success)!

One of the bonuses that I’m so excited about is a two-day live event here in San Diego with some of the biggest names in the online business space that I’m offering for free to anyone who enrolls in Brandon’s program through me, and I talk about the thought process I used for it in this episode. Today you’re going to hear a conversation I had with an Accelerator Mastermind student, and brilliant entrepreneur, Jamie Sears. Jamie creates resources, training and courses for teachers, as well as teacher entrepreneurs, and she’s learned so many valuable lessons of the past few years that I knew I had to bring her on the podcast to share them with you. Jamie reveals how she turned a hobby into a super successful business, and the mindset shifts she had to make along the way that contributed to her doing this. We look at how she has completely changed the way she thinks about paid advertising, the way she grew her email list from 6,000 to 36,000 people over the course of just one single summer, her process for creating content, and so much more. Jamie is a great example of someone who has committed to doing what’s hard in business, and not just the easy stuff, and it’s really paid off and allowed her to stand out in her niche. I really think you’re going to get a lot out of this talk I had with Jamie! If you listened to last week’s episode, you heard the first part of a two-part mini-series featuring my friend Brandon Lucero. I have a feeling you’re going to love this one too, because today Brandon is diving deeper into how to create content that not only attracts and resonates with your target audience, but gets them to take action. We all know the online business space can be crowded, but what Brandon reveals will help you create content that really stands out. It will allow you to build a following that connects with you on so many levels, and one that ultimately wants to support you and your business. Last week Brandon talked about where online marketers are going wrong with the content they create and share, and this week’s episode is tactical. He’ll be offering the solutions to the common issues that exist, and shares how to create the most powerful content that you’ve ever created in your business. As I’ve been talking about, Brandon has a 6-part video series being released soon, February 19th, that I want to encourage you to sign up for. As I mentioned on the previous two episodes, I’m going to be spending a lot of time over the next while talking about how to create content that not only attracts and resonates with your target audience, but also gets them to take action. In fact, this is something I’m working on myself, and I’ll be sharing case studies and experiences from my own business, as well as conversations with experts like today’s special guest. This episode is the first part of a two-part mini series with my good friend, content and messaging expert Brandon Lucero. You’re going to hear the reasons why “how-to” content is only going to get you so far in building your online business right now, and Brandon refers to the new period we are entering as the “new generation” of content. Brandon is going to reveal how to avoid being boring with your content, and he shares examples of how he is doing it, as well as others who are building massive brands and businesses online (without releasing any “how-to” content). He explains what should be the foundation of your content strategy, the four things content should be doing for your business, and you’ll get a sneak peek into the exciting second half of our conversation that will be airing next week. You’ll want to tune into that one too, because I’m not exaggerating when I say that it is probably one of the very best episodes I have ever recorded for the podcast! Brandon has a 6-part video series being released February 19th that I want to encourage you to sign up for. It’s called The Content Revolution, and it’s not only helpful, and informative, but it’s actionable! To register for free, go to https://rickmulready.com/4x. For today’s show I decided to reach back in the archives and share an encore of an episode from 2017, with my good friend Jasmine Star.   Jasmine is a marketing strategist and branding expert, and in this episode she shared a case study and gave us the 3 components of a Facebook Video Ad that had been giving her the best results for her online business.   Even though this conversation was recorded almost 3 years ago and newer apps and tools have come out since then, the concepts Jasmine talks about are still very much relevant today.   This episode today goes along well with a series I have coming soon, where I’ll be looking at how to create content that not only resonates with your audience and attracts them to you, but gets them to take action!   I’m giving myself a challenge starting February 1st, 2020, called The 60-Second Video Challenge. For the month of February I’ll be recording daily videos in order to get more comfortable in front of the camera doing videos, and I’d love for you to join me. To take part all you have to do is post your daily video on Instagram Stories, tag me (@rickmulready) and use the hashtag #MulreadyVideoChallenge. I’ll be choosing a winner at random at the end of February to win an awesome prize, and everyone taking part in this challenge is sure to greatly improve their video presentation skills – while having fun!    On the Show Today You’ll Learn:  How (and why) Jasmine always approaches her ads with the creation process in mind     What she considers to be the “holy grail” of an ad     Why it’s important to watch Facebook algorithms changes - and the big trend she is seeing at this moment    How she personally responds to each comment she receives on social media – and why she’s really doing this     What to consider when trying to decide on the production quality of video to use     How you can use topics being discussed in other niches to customize your own ad content    As you’ll hear, Jasmine is now very intentional with everything she does, but she wasn’t always that way. It was interesting to listen to her talk about her journey, because it’s when she did get highly strategic and focused that things really took off for her with her business.

For today’s show I wanted to do something a bit different and take you behind the scenes of a hot seat that one of my Accelerator Mastermind members did during our recent live retreat in San Diego. She won’t be appearing on this episode with me, but you’ll be hearing a breakdown of what was covered during the hot seat, along my recommendations and key takeaways for her. Lisa Richey is the founder of Manners To Go, which teaches children the proper manners and etiquette they need to succeed in life. Lisa current offers a curriculum for teachers and schools, as well as a certification program. At this time the certification and licensing side of her business is doing really well, so she wanted to focus her hot seat on the education side of things. We helped Lisa map out a strategy for the next quarter to really get the ball rolling by building her email list and generating more sales of her curriculum bundles. As you’ll hear in this episode, Lisa walked away from the hot seat with a very detailed strategy, and a step-by-step process for what she needs to focus on over the next 90 days, and beyond. This is really a discussion about what you should (and shouldn’t) be spending your valuable time on, along with practical strategies that you too can use for your next launch! Want to win a 30-minute strategy session with me? I’ll be drawing one winner at random each month, and all you have to do is give me your feedback on this podcast over at http://rickmulready.com/messenger, telling me what you’d like to hear more of - including topics you’d like to see covered, guests, style and frequency of the show! On the Show Today You’ll Learn:  Lisa’s past experiences running ads and a common mistake she made that affected her results What to make sure of when you’re defining your target audiences How to start growing your email list, and the three things to remember when creating your lead magnet A strategy I recommend she use for running her Facebook and Instagram ads, and why I believe Pinterest needs to be part of her organic and paid strategy How a solid strategy using video can do more than just help Lisa gain awareness Why launching with a live webinar, and optimizing it first, is important to do before even considering moving to an evergreen one A launch checklist that you can use for your next launch, plus what to focus on and what can be left until later in the process The most important emails to focus on (and this may surprise you…)

Today I want to dive into a topic that I think is such a critical piece of growing an online business. If you’re looking to grow your brand and position yourself as a thought leader and authority in your space (plus grow your email list and sell more of your products and services), being a guest on other podcasts is a great way to do it! Podcasting is still very much in its infancy, but it’s ready to explode, and I’ll share the stats in this episode to back this up… So how do you go about getting on other podcasts? I hear excuses from people I speak with all the time, listing all the reasons why they can’t do it. I’m telling you that every single person listening right now has unique gifts to share with the world! You won’t be able to help the people that need your help by playing small though, which is why the message that I have to share in this episode is so important for you to understand. Not only am I going to give you my blueprint for growing your brand using podcast appearances, but I’ve also asked some of my friends to join me on this episode to share their best tips and strategies as well! The people I’ve asked on are super successful online business owners, and you just may recognize the names in this All-Star lineup. You’re going to hear from Pat Flynn, John Lee Dumas, James Wedmore, Amy Porterfield, Jenna Kutcher, Tarzan Kay and Julie Solomon, and I was blown away by their expertise and what they share about getting on other podcasts (and I’m sure you will be too)! On the Show Today You’ll Learn:   What you need to always lead with when approaching podcast hosts about being on their show, and what to do before you even reach out One of the best pitches, word for word, that I’ve even gotten from a prospective guest How case studies can be effectively used and the ways I’ve implemented them An Instagram DM video strategy that shows the host that you’re going above and beyond the typical email pitches they receive Other incredible insights from the top online business owners in the industry!

Today’s guest recently posted in the Foundations Facebook Group about the success she was having with her Facebook ads, and I knew that I had to feature her here on the podcast. Kate Dillon is in a very niche market (in fact, she’s known as the “Girl Who Sells Race Car Parts") and she has an e-commerce business that will break 7-figures this year. What we really cover in this episode though is her journey in starting and growing her online training business in 2019, and all the lessons that she’s learned along the way. Kate initially created an online course for race car drivers, which she turned into a membership site in the latter part of last year. You’ll hear about the first webinars she did to promote her offering, and what happened when she really got intentional with her Facebook ads marketing (and stopped just boosting posts)! She admits that at first, Ads Manager was “freaky and scary”, but Kate has done an amazing job running her ads to increase the number of people on her webinars, sales, as well building her list, and you’ll hear how she’s done it. Kate uses a ton of videos in her business, and she is effective at using Facebook Groups in her overall marketing strategy, among other things. You’ll really want to listen for how she knows her target audience so well. It’s this knowledge that drives all of Kate’s messaging and marketing to an audience that isn’t used to purchasing online course offerings and trainings. I can’t wait to see how Kate progresses this year, and I got so much insight from what she had to say in this conversation. There is so much good stuff she shares here that you can start using in your own online business too! Before we start the show, I’ve got something to ask. At this time we have over 500 5-Star ratings and reviews on Apple Podcasts, which is great, but I’ve set a goal to get 750 of them now by the end of this year, December 31st, 2019. If you’ve gotten value from this podcast, I’d really appreciate you subscribing and leaving an honest rating and review. Take a screenshot, share it on your Instagram Stories and tag me, @rickmulready. When we hit the 750 ratings and reviews, I’ll be raffling off a book bundle of my top 10 business and mindset books for one lucky winner. If you’ve already left a rating and review, just take a screenshot and tag me on Instagram, and you’ll be eligible to win as well! On the Show Today You’ll Learn: How Kate got into the race car business, after getting her degree in interior decorating and working in architecture for 7 years What really opened her eyes to the amazing opportunities available in the online space The lessons Kate took from a previous “failure” and the ultimate dream she has for her online business What the process of launching her first course looked like, and why she says that creating it was the “easy part” The way she pivoted to offering a membership program, what her first webinar experience was like, and the way she upped her Facebook ads game for the second one All the stats from her webinar, including ad spend, cost per lead and her insane conversion rate What to consider when determining what audiences to target and messages to use with them, plus the challenges Kate faced in her marketing to her own niche How Kate is continuing to build her email list in order to achieve even more success this year

This has been a massive year of growth for the podcast, and I first want to thank you for this! I want 2020 to be a big year of growth in your business as well, which is why I’m bringing you tips and strategies for how to win with Facebook and Instagram Ads in the near year. On last Friday’s Quick Tip I talked about the 7 areas I recommend you focus on in 2020, but you may have noticed that I didn’t include ads as one of these areas. That was intentional, because it should be a given that we always need to be focusing on advertising, because it really has been “pay to play” for awhile now in the online space. If you’re not using paid ads to generate leads and sales, you are missing a huge opportunity! In this episode I’ll be talking about what’s changed with ads and the reasons that they continue to be both eye-opening and exciting for online entrepreneurs. I’ll give you my thoughts on where are things are heading, and in addition to the 7 key ways to win with Facebook and Instagram Ads in 2020, I’ll be including two bonuses at the end of the episode that you’ll want to listen for. As with the last episode, nothing I share here is earth shattering, but try focusing on and testing a few strategies that I speak about today, and you could see amazing results in 2020 (and beyond)! Before we start the show, I’ve got something to ask. At this time we have over 500 5-Star ratings and reviews on Apple Podcasts, which is great, but I’ve set a goal to get 750 of them now by the end of this year, December 31st, 2019. On the Show Today You’ll Learn:  What’s happening to the prices of ads, and why you should still continue to be investing in them (no matter what!) The reasons that we need to have a “mobile first mentality”, especially with Instagram Ads Ways to be using live video in your advertising, and one area that presents a huge opportunity for advertisers next year What you need to be aware of in terms of Campaign Budget Optimization in Q1 of the new year Why I think that Instagram will continue to become more important from an advertising perspective, plus what we’ve been seeing from our Instagram placements How an increased focus on your messaging will help you reach your target audience more effectively, why simplification is key for your ad campaigns, and more!

Today we’re going to continue with the productivity theme on the podcast, and if you missed the bonus episode from this past Monday with Neill Williams, you’re going to want to check that one out too! In this episode my good friend Craig Ballantyne is rejoining me (now as a guest for the third time!), to talk about his latest book called The Perfect Week Formula. Craig is an expert in productivity for entrepreneurs, and he was one of my original mentors (and continues to be) since I started in the online space. His books and content have helped me so much over the years, and I know they can do the same for you too. In this episode Craig reveals what it means to have a “perfect week”, what to really focus on to get more done, and the way you can leave a lasting legacy with the work that you do. He shares his brilliant “Billionaire Time Matrix” concept, along with the four questions that can save you 10 hours a week – and who wouldn’t want to have that? Craig talks about how top performers end their days to guarantee success, and he shares his “Blackout Game” that I had never heard of before. This is a challenge and system that as an entrepreneur, you’re going to want to see if you can implement it! This was a wide-ranging conversation that covered a lot, and what I like about Craig is that he always gives strategies and tactics that you can use right way. This conversation is no exception, because the stuff Craig reveals in this episode can change your life very, very quickly! Before we start the show, I’ve got something to ask. At this time we have over 500 5-Star ratings and reviews on Apple Podcasts, which is great, but I’ve set a goal to get 750 of them now by the end of this year, December 31st, 2019. On the Show Today You’ll Learn: Why Craig now says that his first book, The Perfect Day Formula, was the “wrong book” to write The reasons that readers are liking his new book the most out of all the ones that he’s written Some rituals and routines that can lead to you being more present with the people you love What are “non-negotiables” and how to honor them in your own life The ways that just 15 minutes can make all the difference for you How the book writing process for Craig’s latest book differed from his earlier ones, and what he did this time to make it dramatically easier and quicker to publish What happened to his life when he started applying what he calls the “Billionaire Time Matrix” The 3 foundational habits of a perfect week, why he created the “Blackout Game”, and much more!

Are you looking to accomplish more and see bigger results in your personal life and business, but in less time? This is something that I’ve really been working on since the birth of my daughter, which is why I was looking forward to bringing Neill Williams on to the podcast to talk about how it can actually be done. Neill is “The Feel Better Coach” and a member of my Accelerator Mastermind, and she recently presented some amazing strategies and tips to the rest of the group at our recent retreat, which you’ll hear in this episode. Neil is a certified life coach, mom and wife, and in addition to building her business she still is an employee in the corporate world. Neill is a high-achieving person, but was finding it hard to get all the things she needed to do done. She did eventually figure out the way to get the life she wanted, while taking care of herself in the process, and what she talks about here is a real eye-opener. In this episode Neill reveals what her life looks like now, including what she does to build a successful in business by only working 3 days a week (and getting more done in 25 to 30 hours than she had previously done in 50 to 60)! There was a mindset shift that was needed, and today Neill shares what this was, as well as the complete system she uses to crush each week and month. You’ll hear that we really don’t have to be working 18-hour days as entrepreneurs, and our schedules don’t have to be jammed packed with things to do every day. Also, it’s not hard work and hustle that will generate the results you want to see. I had a Google doc open while Neill and I were having this conversation, and I took down so much good stuff during it. So are you ready to get intentional about your life and see what happens when you do? Let’s do it! Before we start the show, I’ve got something to ask. At this time we have over 500 5-Star ratings and reviews on Apple Podcasts, which is great, but I’ve set a goal to get 750 of them now by the end of this year, December 31st, 2019. On the Show Today You’ll Learn: The questions that Neill asks herself to determine what are the real priorities in her life How she came to the realization that it was ok to make herself a top priority What to do if you’re not sure where to spend your time each day Why you’ll want to be curious and experiment, plus the importance of being 100% focused (without distractions) Why more structure will actually give you more freedom, despite this concept sounding counterintuitive The way Neill schedules white space into her calendar and how a change in environment can supercharge your creativity and productivity What’s holding people back from making the necessary changes and why it is possible to still create results with lower vibrational energy

Today’s guest is an Accelerator Mastermind member who has come a long way in her business in a relatively short amount of time, and I’ve really wanted to introduce you to her. Ashley Shaw helps top-tier social sellers and entrepreneurs eliminate the overwhelm in their marketing efforts so they can have the business of their dreams, and doesn’t just show others how to do this, she has taken the actions to create this reality in her own life. In this episode you’ll hear all about how Ashley’s background has contributed to where she is today, including her first real sales experience selling $1,200 knife sets, her 16 years of fitness and sales experience and her time climbing the corporate ladder to the top of an organization. Ashley loves teaching others and understanding how to move people to action, and she reveals something I didn’t know in this episode, that she actually has an English Literature degree she now uses in her work creating content and emails for herself and her clients. You’ll hear what led Ashley to create her Fitness Leader Institute online platform, and how she launched her very first $49 course. She talks about how she realized she was waiting on the sidelines at the start of last year, and the shifts in both her business model and mindset that allowed her to go “pro” as she now offers a muti-tiered membership to her customers. Along the way Ashley has recognized the opportunities available to her, and her business has constantly progressed to a point at which she is now generating her goal of almost $30,000 revenue each month. She’s achieved her goal of scaling her business while actually working less, and she and her husband recently were even able to travel for 6 whole weeks while Ashley only had to work about an hour each day. I’m so proud of what Ashley has achieved so far, and I know that she’s just getting started. There are so many good lessons you can take from her story if you keep an open mind, continue to try new things and most of all, just take action! Before we start the show, I’ve got something to ask. At this time we have over 500 5-Star ratings and reviews on Apple Podcasts, which is great, but I’ve set a goal to get 750 of them now by the end of this year, December 31st, 2019. My guest today is my good friend Greg Hickman, who is the founder and CEO of System.ly. Their mission is to enable and support entrepreneurs to amplify their best so they can spend their time on the things that matter most. Why I really wanted to have Greg on the show today is because a couple months ago he posted something on his Facebook page that really caught my eye, and it’s something that I’ve felt and experienced in the recent past. Today you’ll hear me read Greg’s entire post, and what he said is something that doesn’t get talked about enough. This is a wide-ranging conversation on what it’s really like to build and grow an online business, and we reveal it all in this episode. We talk about things like why’s it’s actually ok to feel overwhelmed, and how the problems and challenges that you face in business won’t magically disappear as you grow your business. Greg shares what happens when you let someone else’s definition of a “successful” business guide your actions, and how you don’t always need to be climbing a mountain and playing the comparison game with others. This conversation is one that might happen over coffee, or behind closed doors, but not openly on a podcast. We both share our experiences and I think it’s going to provide a lot of value to listeners, which is why I wanted to bring this episode to you today. Before we start the show, I’ve got something to ask. At this time we have over 500 5-Star ratings and reviews on Apple Podcasts, which is great, but I’ve set a goal to get 750 of them now by the end of this year, December 31st, 2019. On the Show Today You’ll Learn: What Greg’s evolution as an entrepreneur has looked like to date, and why you can pivot after being known for one thing for so long The fears and hesitations that he faced with his pivot, plus what told him he was on the right path after he made it Why it’s so important to define and strive for your own version of success, not someone else’s The reasons he broke and remodeled his business, and the important lessons he learned from this process The power of keeping your business simple versus complex Why Greg feels that it’s not possible to focus on profit and growth at the same time Feeling overwhelmed is normal (think long-term when it comes to business)

Regular listeners of the podcast will know that I’ve been on a journey to discover more about how success comes from taking an inside-out approach, which is why I’m so excited to geek out with today’s guest. My friend Dr. Shannon Irvine helps entrepreneurs train their brains to transform their businesses, and it may take listening to this episode a couple of times to really grasp what she reveals here, but trust me, it’ll be worth it. As you’ll hear, Shannon is the ideal person to have this discussion with. As she earned her PhD, she discovered that our brains are able to change, and that we can actually hardwire new ways of thinking, acting, and being. When she dug into this internal work and combined it with the strategies she had been relying on for years, she was finally able to integrate her life and her business. She now is able to take time away to spend with her kids, increase her impact through my nonprofit, Mosaic Vision, and grow her revenue. The best part is that it’s not that difficult to remove the mental blocks that are holding you back, and in this episode Shannon provides tactical tips and action steps you can start taking today to do this, along with access to her free daily brain priming audio series – that just takes minutes a day! In this episode we cover self-worth, our subconscious, money beliefs and the science behind what makes someone successful, in whatever way you define success. What Shannon shares today shows that it all really comes down to the realization that we are the creators of our thoughts, and we really do have the choice to get where we want to go. On the Show Today You’ll Learn: The inside-out approach that will get you off the “hustle treadmill” – for good Why we shouldn’t be placing our self-worth in our businesses, and each of our experiences with this How long it takes to reprogram your subconscious (the answer will probably shock you!) What Shannon sees as the single biggest challenge that entrepreneurs face today, and how a simple reframe can make all the difference with it The four steps to take to remove limiting beliefs Fascinating examples how musicians, athletes and entrepreneurs can rewire their brains for maximum performance and success How to use a bridge process, and reverse-engineering, to get from brand new entrepreneur to 7-figure earning, or wherever you want to be

Today you’re going to hear a conversation that I had with my very good friend Mel Abraham, and this might be the most important podcast interview I’ve ever done. I’ve known Mel for several years now and he’s a brilliant entrepreneur, amazing person and mentor to me on so many different levels. Not only is Mel a CPA with multiple online businesses, a best-seller author, a coach and a consultant, but he’s so much more. Although Mel is an expert in entrepreneurial finances and building wealth, in this episode he’s focusing on something that he hasn’t really talked about publicly before – how he’s beating cancer. I recently invited Mel to speak to my Accelerator Mastermind group at our retreat in San Diego, and a few minutes before he was set to start I asked him if he would be willing to talk about everything he’s gone through recently with his health, and the lessons that he’s learned along the way. Mel and I often discuss business and life, and one of the things that has impacted me the most is how he’s rebalanced his priorities due to the cancer diagnosis, and you’re going to hear how he’s done that today. This is really a story about how Mel’s starting life with a clean slate, and the way he’s decided to do what makes him truly happy. I want to make sure that you (and myself), are setting our own definition of success too, just like Mel has. Before we start the show, I’ve got something to ask. At this time we have over 500 5-Star ratings and reviews on Apple Podcasts, which is great, but I’ve set a goal to get 750 of them now by the end of this year, December 31st, 2019. On the Show Today You’ll Learn: How Mel first realized that something wasn’t right with his health and that he needed to get checked out right away His mindset after receiving the cancer diagnosis – plus how it literally changed his very existence Why he and his wife put a team together, and the steps they took to fight it head on The way that Mel learned it’s really ok to ask others for help and to be vulnerable What he’s adding back on his plate, and the things he’s not pursuing anymore, as he liberates himself from the stresses of life and business and focuses on experiencing joy Mel’s framework for creating a “wealthy” life that isn’t just abundant financially The greatest business lesson he ever learned from his then 6-year old son And much more!

This past August I was a guest on my friend Amy Porterfield’s Marketing Made Easy podcast, where I discussed 3 different strategies (plus a bonus!) for using Facebook ads in your pre-launch, or that crucial 60 to 90 days timeframe leading up to cart open. I wanted to share part of this conversation with Amy here today, because we covered a lot of things that could not only help you launch, but also build your email list year round, lower your ad costs, and a whole lot more. You’ll hear actual strategies that both Amy and I have used in our businesses to make the best use of this critical pre-launch phase, including some beginner and advanced strategies for you to try implementing in your own business.  What Amy and I talk about in this episode isn’t rocket science. It’s really all about focusing on the basics when it comes to running Facebook ads and launching your new course or program. The people who are willing to be patient and that stick with these basic principles are the ones who will be rewarded in the end! Before we start the show, I’ve got something to ask. At this time we have over 500 5-Star ratings and reviews on Apple Podcasts, which is great, but I’ve set a goal to get 750 of them now by the end of this year, December 31st, 2019. Today I want to take you through an exercise that can drastically improve the results you’re getting with your Facebook and Instagram ads. This is an exercise that I’ve gone through with quite a few people in the trainings that I do, including at a recent live retreat for my Accelerator Mastermind - and it blew them away! This exercise is really the upfront work that you need to be doing before you even open Facebook Ads Manager to set up your ads, but I still see so many people not taking the time to do this.  What I’m talking about today has everything to do with your target audience and fully understanding them. Yes, your ideal customer avatar is important, but when it comes to running ads you need to take it a step further and learn how to effectively subsegment your ideal customer. If you’re already doing something like this in your business, or you implement what I share in this episode, let me know over on Instagram, @rickmulready! Before we start the show, I’ve got something to ask. At this time we have over 500 5-Star ratings and reviews on Apple Podcasts, which is great, but I’ve set a goal to get 750 of them now by the end of this year, December 31st, 2019. On the Show Today You’ll Learn: How each group of your customers will require a different conversation (and why not changing your messaging is a lost opportunity) Why you’ll want to remind each group of people of the transformation that is possible with your product or service What I’d recommend doing to set these segments up in Facebook Ad Manager An example of this exercise in action, in my own business!

Last year I was looking for a new way to launch my Facebook Ad Manager program, and I just didn’t feel like doing a webinar launch, even though it’s something I like to do and have had lots of success with. In the past I’ve also used a traditional video series to launch, where I scripted and recorded the vidoes over the course of a few weeks, but to be honest I could not have hated that process more (even though it was effective and we helped a lot of people with it)! So I decided to combine these two types of launches last year, but with a twist. I created what I call the LiveStream Launch Formula, which I will be sharing with you today. The first time I used the LiveStream Launch Formula in early 2018 it was so successful, and I had so much fun, that I just knew I had to try it again late last year. Both of these launches ended up being some of the biggest ones I’ve ever had, so today I wanted to teach you how you can use the LiveStream Launch Formula in your own business. In this episode I’m going to share the framework I use, the big lessons and takeaways I’ve learned from doing it, the results I’ve achieved, and a whole lot more. So if you’re looking for a new way to launch, I hope you find value in what I have to share today. Don’t hesitate to put your own twist on things though, and as always, keep testing and see what works for you on your next launch. Good luck! Before we start the show, I’ve got something to ask. At this time we have over 500 5-Star ratings and reviews on Apple Podcasts, which is great, but I’ve set a goal to get 750 of them now by the end of this year, December 31st, 2019. On the Show Today You’ll Learn: How I used a pop-up Facebook Group to generate engagement and excitement, while making sure I controlled who would be allowed in it The 3 different offers I made to get people to register for the live video series Why I recommend you work backwards when planning a launch, starting from the cart close date (plus the way that I do it) A big mistake that I made the first time I used the LiveStream Launch Formula, and how I fixed this going forward The structure of each live training, and the ways that I created an open loop for participants to want the next one What to remember when offering an upsell, and the results I got from mine Two key things I did during the cart open week that could help your next launch A breakdown of the stats, including return on investment, cost per lead and the highest earnings per lead number I’ve ever gotten from a launch The two most successful ad campaigns I ran for the launch, and what didn’t work that well

You’ve likely heard the concept of building the “know-like-trust” factor in order to convert leads into sales. As a business owner you have to have some sort of strategy for getting someone from the place of not even knowing who you are, to becoming a paying customer. Understanding your customer journey is critical for your business, which is why I wanted to talk about it today. This is something I recently took my October mastermind group through, and it opened up a lot of eyes…  Frankly, the customer journey isn’t something that a lot of people teach, but I can tell you that it is a major reason why people aren’t converting leads to sales in their businesses. On this episode I’m going to break it all down for you and simplify everything, and after listening, you’ll see why your offer most likely isn’t the problem if you’re having trouble getting sales. What I share with you today will help give you better understanding of your customer’s journey, and why it’s so important to your success! Before we start the show, I’ve got something to ask. At this time we have over 500 5-Star ratings and reviews on Apple Podcasts, which is great, but I’ve set a goal to get 750 of them now by the end of this year, December 31st, 2019. Today’s strategy session is with Amanda Genther, who is best known for creating custom sales page design for people launching online courses, membership sites, higher-ticket group coaching and mastermind groups. Amanda is in a bit of a transition phase, as she’s trying to decide which direction to go in next in her business. As you’ll hear in this episode, she’s got no shortage of options to consider! Amanda breaks down each of the paths she could go take next, including focusing a course that she’s launched in the past, growing her membership site, restarting her “done-for-you” services work with individual clients, and she has even thought about designing templates for her clients. Of all of the options that Amanda is considering, there are definitely ones that I like better than the others, and I give her my thoughts on each. One of the options is something that could be considered “easy money”, but it’s not what is going to move the needle for what Amanda really wants to do long-term, so I share with her what I would do instead, complete with a detailed launch strategy to set herself up success. By the end of this call Amanda commits to this strategy, and I believe that by committing to just one thing and really focusing on it, that’s when things are going to completely change for her and her business. If you are an entrepreneur who isn’t sure which way to go next, what I cover today can help give you clarity as well going forward. Before we start the show, I’ve got something to ask. At this time we have over 500 5-Star ratings and reviews on Apple Podcasts, which is great, but I’ve set a goal to get 750 of them now by the end of this year, December 31st, 2019. Amanda’s exciting launch plans for next month, plus the tweaks and changes I would suggest to make it even better

If you’ve been following why I rebranded the podcast to The Art of Online Business, you know that I’ve been thinking a lot about the evolution of my business this past year. In fact, I really changed the lens through which I view my business since the birth of my daughter in December of 2018, which I’ve talked a lot about recently. I felt like I was doing you all a disservice by teaching only one piece of the puzzle, and building a truly impactful business requires a lot more than just Facebook and Instagram ads (although they are still an integral part of it all)! It’s easy to overlook the other critical things that are needed, like having the right mindset, getting organic traffic and building out a team, to name a few. It’s for this reason that I have created what I call the “Impact Entrepreneur Framework”, which is made up of four stages, or systems, of an impactful business. When you’ve mastered each of these four systems within the framework, you’ve got a business that makes a lot of money, is profitable and truly makes an impact on a ton of people!  I’m going to break down this framework for you today, and if you’re a visible learner like I am, I’ve created a diagram of the framework that accompanies this episode, and you can find the link to download it at https://s3.amazonaws.com/RickMulready.com/Accelerator/impact_framework_092719.pdf Before we start the show, I’ve got something to ask. This past year has been full of new chapters for me. I became a new father in December of 2018 when my daughter was born, and that really became a sort of domino effect of changes in not only my personal life, but in my business too. I suddenly got super-clear on what I really want to do in my business, including who I want to help and the kind of impact that I’m here to make. As you’ve heard me say many times on the podcast, Facebook and Instagram ads are just one part of growing and running an online business, but I’ve been actively learning, implementing, testing and mastering many other elements to it. By not sharing what has helped me, in addition to just paid advertising, would be a major disservice to you. I’m here to show you the complete picture for growing a profitable and impactful online business, and to do this, I’ve decided to change the name of this podcast. Yes, you read that right! The Art of Paid Traffic is officially going into retirement, in order to make way for something a little more all-encompassing. You have nothing to worry about though, as I’ll be running through what this all means for you (and me!) in this episode. Before we start the show, I’ve got something to ask. At this time we have over 500 5-Star ratings and reviews on Apple Podcasts, which is great, but I’ve set a goal to get 750 of them now by the end of this year, December 31st, 2019. For today’s show I wanted to share with you a strategy session I recently had with a member of my Accelerator Group Mastermind who is looking to increase her monthly revenue by $25,000 – in addition to what she is generating right now in her business. Jasmine Shea is the founder of Your Dinner Is Planned, the easiest and most affordable way to cook healthy dinners for your family. Her thriving online membership brings brand-new, healthy recipes to its members each week, along with organized and portioned grocery checklists, and much more. Jasmine is very active on Instagram, and right now she is doing her launches on that platform. She’s been launching quarterly, where the doors have been open for 3 days, and then she builds a waitlist for her membership. Very recently she closed the cart on a $1 trial where new members get access to her content for 7 days, and she signed up 218 new members, with an impressive 74% of those people staying on for full payment after the 7-day trial.  Jasmine’s launches have been consistent, as last quarter she saw 206 new members join, but her top priority now is getting new members and seeing a significant increase in these numbers the next time she launches. We also talk about some other priorities for her, including how she wants to enhance her customer experience, and further improve her already strong retention numbers (and lifetime customer value). As you’ll hear, there is a lot that Jasmine is doing right at the moment, and she really knows her numbers. I’m going to be recommending some strategies that she can try that will help her reach her goals faster though, including a new way that she can launch monthly, instead of quarterly, without the launch process taking up all of her time and being stressful and overwhelming. At the end of the episode I detail the next steps for Jasmine, and she’s already working on integrating the strategies that we talk about here. She’s an action taker, and I have no doubt that she’ll continue to test and tweak her strategies, and the results will follow. My hope is that you too can gain valuable insights for your next launch from this strategy session! Before we start the show, I’ve got something to ask. At this time we have over 500 5-Star ratings and reviews on Apple Podcasts, which is great, but I’ve set a goal to get 750 of them by the end of Q3, Sept 30th, 2019, which is just a few short days away. On the Show Today You’ll Learn: A breakdown of Jasmine’s current numbers, including the churn rate for her membership, her average lifetime customer value, and how she looks at deciding on an ad budget to acquire new customers Why she switched to the $1 trial launch using Instagram, after previously running Facebook ads to cold traffic How Jasmine’s content to members is currently delivered, and a breakdown of her Instagram strategy and pre-launch phases A video strategy that I recommend where she can use what she already has created to leverage Facebook and Instagram targeting What offers Jasmine could use for her re-targeting ads A rundown of her ideal customer, “Katie”, and some additional ways that I think she can reach her (including lookalike audiences she can create and ways to test different audience sizes) What a simplified monthly launch strategy could look for Jasmine and how I think it could help her achieve her vision for the company and her brand Which audience I feel Jasmine should start focusing at this time, and the next steps for her to take - with deadlines!

Facebook and Instagram ads aren’t difficult, but with so much talk about them being overwhelming and scary, I wanted to record this episode for everyone who thinks that they are “hard.” I can speak from experience and say that once you get over this fear, it will allow you to gain traction and scale your business so much more quickly, like it did for my business when I started years ago.  What I’m seeing is that people either aren’t even trying to use Facebook and Instagram ads, or they’re giving up on them too soon, but trust me, they do work if you’re patient and you allow the algorithms to do what they’re supposed to do! As you’ll hear in this episode, it’s the people who are willing to try running ads and constantly test them (and then test them some more) who are going to win… What I am doing today is taking the mystery out of what makes successful Facebook and Instagram ads, and this is an episode that you’ll definitely want to go through more than once. Dive in, apply the strategies that I share, take action and start testing, because Facebook and Instagram ads really aren’t “hard!” Before we start the show, I’ve got something to ask. At this time we have over 500 5-Star ratings and reviews on Apple Podcasts, which is great, but I’ve set a goal to get 750 of them by the end of Q3, Sept 30th, 2019. On the Show Today You’ll Learn: The right mindset you need to have and approach you’ll need to have in order to get the most out of your Facebook and Instagram campaigns The importance of doing the upfront work, then following the steps in order, in an “algorithm friendly” way What getting clear on your end goal will allow you to do, and a case study of a student of mine who effectively implemented her ads strategy this way Why you’ll need to understand your target audience, and sub-audiences, and how to begin speaking with them How to find your target audience on Facebook and the tools I recommend to do it Specific questions you can begin to ask yourself that will set your campaigns up for success A walkthrough of the campaign set ups, and what to consider in terms of objective, optimization, budget and more A simple trick that you can use for your messaging (even if you “suck” at writing copy)! It’s hard to do, but why in most case you need to leave your ads alone for the first 3 to 5 days…

My guest for this episode is Lianne Kim, who’s a member of my current Accelerator Mastermind and has appeared on The Art of Paid Traffic before. I had no idea where this conversation with Lianne was going to go, and I wasn’t even sure if I’d be using it for the podcast, but it was just too good not to share with all of you today. Lianne is a business coach who primarily serves mama entrepreneurs through her coaching programs and online membership community, Mamas & Co, which now has over 300 members (and growing). As you’ll hear in this episode, I met Lianne at one of my live events in May 2018 and I’ve had the honor of coaching her for a little over a year now. Whenever we have a group call I’m always so excited to hear how Lianne is going to show up, because she always comes with a positive attitude and that mindset shows in the results she achieves. It wasn’t always that way though, and Lianne is very open about the doubts and fears that she’s experienced along her journey as a business owner, including a time recently where she was expecting to fail even before tickets went on sale for her event, MamaCon. The big difference now is that Lianne is able to recognize these thought patterns within minutes, and she changes them before taking action from a better place, and not from one of fear. Lianne has come so far and now has a thriving multi-6-figure business, although it’s not just about the money for her. It’s really about having as big an impact as possible, and to do that, Lianne has had to get out of her comfort zone and learn to become the CEO and leader of her growing business. Before we start the show, I’ve got something to ask. At this time we have over 500 5-Star ratings and reviews on Apple Podcasts, which is great, but I’ve set a goal to get 750 of them by the end of Q3, Sept 30th, 2019. On the Show Today You’ll Learn: The tactical issue she thought she had last year, versus the bigger issue that was really at play The “a ha” moment that helped Lianne beat perfectionism (and her upper limit), and the mantra she uses to keep moving forward each day How she knew that she had to get support and the right team in place, as well as simplify her business and offerings The way Lianne’s “baking in the fun into the journey” and is working towards what success means to her Her thoughts on why entrepreneurs set monetary goals and the reframe she uses to judge how well her business is doing The process of define the roles for each of Lianne’s team members, her big plans to go global and how she’s now showing up – in a BIG way

For today’s show I’m going to be breaking down the evergreen webinar funnel I’m running for my Foundations Facebook and Instagram Ads Program. Why am I sharing this? Well to be honest, this funnel hasn’t been performing anywhere near where I want it to be. By sharing how I’m addressing the issues, my hope is that you can gain some insight on improvements you can make to your own sales funnel that will make a huge difference in the results you’re getting. In this episode you’ll be seeing exactly what has been going on in my funnel, including what’s working well and what areas can be improved on, as well as all the stats and the steps I’m taking to make my funnel more effective. The big takeaway I’d like you to get from this episode is that you really need to know your numbers, and then leverage those stats to make decisions on where you can tweak your funnel. Lastly, don’t forget to review your funnel on a regular basis to make sure that things are working the way that they should be! To get a copy of the downloadable evergreen webinar tracking spreadsheet that I mention in this episode, go to http://rickmulready.com/316. Before we start the show, I’ve got something to ask. On the Show Today You’ll Learn: Why I recommend launching a live webinar first before moving it to evergreen The stats and metrics that we track weekly, and how we do it What’s been working in the evergreen funnel based on these stats, and what areas need improvement The reason I decided to re-record the entire webinar…. The other action steps my team and I have taken to get better results, including a simple upgrade to our opt-in page that made a big impact The most common objection I was hearing from people that weren’t buying the program, and the way I’ve addressed it in my webinar and email follow-up sequence What’s happened since we made the changes to the funnel just a few short weeks ago

Today’s guest is returning to the podcast for the second time, and as you’ll hear, not only does she have a goal of achieving the most guest appearances on The Art of Paid Traffic, but she also has some big goals for her business. Brandi Mowles manages Facebook ads for online experts, but she also has a membership program where she teaches service providers how to scale to consistent $10,000 months, without hiring a team to do it. The first time Brandi was on the show we broke down each side of her business, and she ran through the beta launch of her membership program that she had just completed. Since then she’s done a public launch and she absolutely crushed it, which is why I wanted to have her back to share how she did it, and what she learned in the process. You’re going to hear a step-by-step breakdown of how Brandi did this “full on” launch, including her ad budget, email sequence, and the 3 part-video series that worked so well for her. Although she fell short of her goal to get 1,000 webinar registrations, Brandi still got over 500 people, at an average cost per lead of about $4 (Brandi thought this way too high, but wait until you hear what her impressive earnings per lead number was)! A launch can be overwhelming and Brandi does a great job of running through her thought process and how she handled everything, including negative feedback from one person, as well as how her thinking has shifted in terms of what she will be prioritizing next time. If you’re thinking of launching for the first time, or improving on the process for your next launch, what Brandi has to share today is invaluable! Before we start the show, I’ve got something to ask. At this time we have over 500 5-Star ratings and reviews on Apple Podcasts, which is great, but I’ve set a goal to get 750 of them by the end of Q3, Sept 30th, 2019. On the Show Today You’ll Learn: Why Brandi feels that being a service provider is the quickest way to generating 6-figures a year online (and how someone can get started) What’s holding a lot of people back from getting over the hump of generating 5-figures consistently each month A recap of Brandi’s beta launch in May 2019, including what she says worked well, and what didn’t How she got clear on her messaging and the way she got 22 powerful video testimonials (from 23 members of the beta launch!) The realizations Brandi made about running ads for her own business, and not for someone else How she structured her webinar, and why she did it that way A full breakdown of her latest launch, including her revenue and the key metrics that all online entrepreneurs should be focusing on each time they launch What Brandi will be working on leading up to her next launch to see even better results on her journey to a $120,000 launch!

It takes a lot to get me nervous, but I’d by lying if I said I wasn’t nervous about publishing this episode. Today my friend Tiffany Lee Bymaster is flipping the script and turning the tables by interviewing me, and we go really deep with a lot of stuff in this one. You may remember that Amy Porterfield was on the podcast to interview me and give listeners some background on my life back in Episode 200. If you’re a regular listener you know that my life has changed so much since that episode was recorded (including the fact that I’m now a Dad!), which is why I wanted to air this recent conversation with Tiffany. It was several months ago when I reached out to Tiffany and asked her how I could be improving my social media, and she said she wanted to interview me for this show, and now we’re doing it! In this episode you’ll hear me talk about fatherhood, my business evolution, the big realizations I’ve made about business and success since becoming an entrepreneur in 2012, and Tiffany even asks me a series of questions that my students wanted answered too. She also asks me a “lightning round” of questions where I share my favorite food, business book, why I’m a “movie snob” when I go to the movies, some weird facts about me, and a whole lot more. We end the episode on a serious note where I talk about the legacy I want to leave my daughter, and I share the message I’ll want her to hear when she grows up. Although we covered so much in this episode, there was still a lot that Tiffany and I didn’t touch, and she did such a great job interviewing me that I’m definitely going to have her back on the show to do this again. Before we start the show, I’ve got something to ask. At this time we have over 500 5-Star ratings and reviews on Apple Podcasts, which is great, but I’ve set a goal to get 750 of them by the end of Q3, Sept 30th, 2019. On the Show Today You’ll Learn:  How Tiffany and I met and got to know each other, plus why she says I intimidated her at first! How I really feel about showing up on social media… What the evolution of my business has looked like, including the initial struggles I faced and what turned it around for me How Facebook ads and networking with the right people (for the right reasons) built my business more than anything else Why I feel that starting this podcast was like “rocket fuel” for the growth of my business The way I discovered the growing a big team does not equal more success Why I’m a diehard Washington Capitals fan but grew up in New Hampshire, and tons of other things you probably didn’t know about me!

My guest today is a member of my current Accelerator mastermind group, and she has been crushing it in just the short time since we started working together! Hallie Sherman is a speech-language pathologist who works full-time in the public school system in New York, and for the last 8 years she’s also been selling digital resources for busy speech-language pathologists online, and I’m sure that her story will resonate with many of the listeners of this podcast. Hallie began selling her resources on a website called Teachers Pay Teachers back in 2012, and after realizing that she only had so many hours in a week, she has now shifted her focus to creating her own “mini-courses” to sell on her own website. Her products are reasonably priced, about $30 for one and $75 for a bundle, and Hallie recently had a very successful launch, generating 5-figures in revenue in just 5 days. In this episode you’ll hear how Hallie has made the transition from “hobby” to a true online business, and what really showed her that her audience wanted more digital offerings from her.  She reveals how she built her email list, which now has over 15,000 subscribers, and the way she launched her first online course to generate those 5-figures in revenue. From listening you’ll note that Hallie is an action taker who always has an open mind, and she doesn’t overcomplicate the process or try to re-invent the wheel. The way she launched is actually the opposite of what I usually teach my students, in that she created the course first and then sold it, but it worked really well for her since she already had the content ready and knew what she was going to have in her mini-courses. Hallie has created amazing momentum in her business so far, and I truly believe the sky is the limit for her when it comes to what she can create in her life and business!  Before we start the show, I’ve got something to ask. At this time we have over 500 5-Star ratings and reviews on Apple Podcasts, which is great, but I’ve set a goal to get 750 of them by the end of Q3, Sept 30th, 2019. On the Show Today You’ll Learn:> How Hallie used freebies and segmented her email list to grow a waitlist of 600 people for her first course (before she first even launched) The way she reached out to her target audience of speech-language pathologists to learn exactly what they wanted from her products What Hallie considers her strengths, and how she used them to overcome “imposter syndrome” Her process of learning how to run paid ads to her lead magnets How she leverages her Instagram following of 15,000 people and positions herself as the “go-to” person in her industry The creation process and the steps Hallie took to then launch her mini-courses What she considers the biggest lessons (and surprises) from this experience What Hallie’s team looks like now and the exercise I gave her that will help her decide what role(s) to hire for next

On today’s show I want to talk to you about 3 Facebook Instagram ad mistakes I’ve been seeing lately that are keeping people from getting the results that they want from their ads. These concepts are going to be basic and fundamental in nature, but I find that it’s usually these types of things that are messing us up (and you’ll hear which of these mistakes I’ve been making lately as well). This episode was inspired by what I was saw at our first Accelerator Group Mastermind retreat here in San Diego earlier in the year. I saw that there was an opportunity for our members to make some changes to lower their cost per lead, and in one campaign, a member was able to do just that and lower her cost per lead from $40 to $5, in just a day! How did she do it? She was able to make this significant improvement in cost by implementing what I share on the podcast today, and I feel that you could improve your ad performance as well with a few of these simple tweaks and strategies.  Before we start the show, I’ve got something to ask. At this time we have over 500 5-Star ratings and reviews on Apple Podcasts, which is great, but I’ve set a goal to get 750 of them by the end of Q3, Sept 30th, 2019. On the Show Today You’ll Learn: How people overcomplicate their ad strategies and what a simpler campaign set up will do for you My recommendations for how you can simplify your campaigns, and the importance of using a planned out strategy versus random test ads One of the best things you can do to set your ads up for success – and the tools I use to do it in my business Recommendations and best practices for running multiple ad sets Where people are getting confused around objectives and when it can help to use other objectives instead of conversions A pre-launch strategy I use to build video engagement audiences – and ultimately, lead to conversions!

Today’s guest is someone that I’ve looked to for mentorship, because he is literally one of my favorite people in the online business space. Casey Graham has started and sold three businesses, and he is now the founder and CEO of a company called Gravy. We started working with Gravy a few years back, and they are the leading experts in helping their clients recover failed payments for subscription-based businesses. Since starting Gravy, Casey and his team have learned a lot of lessons about business and customer psychology that he really opens up about here on this episode. Gravy is now viewed as the “Ritz Carlton of payment recovery”, and Casey does a great job explaining how they differ from collection agencies when I put him on the spot near the start of the interview by asking him that question. We cover a lot of different topics here, including one I’m really interested in right now, which is how we can learn to “turn the switch” off at the end of the day as busy entrepreneurs (and make the most of the time we all have with our families). In this episode Casey reveals his simple strategy for getting someone to give you money (and let me just say that it’s not by using fear tactics), and he also gives his 60-day sequence when working with subscription-based customers. You’ll also learn the ways you can be proactive in retaining paying customers, the four main reasons people will stop paying (and they may not be what you think!) and so much more. Like my other interviews here on the podcast, this one went in a lot of different directions and we covered a lot of things that can benefit entrepreneurs at all stages of their businesses. Whether you are just starting out on your journey or looking to scale to 7-figures, Casey is a great person to learn from because he has integrity and he’s building a business the right way. Before we start the show, I’ve got something to ask. At this time we have over 500 5-Star ratings and reviews on Apple Podcasts, which is great, but I’ve set a goal to get 750 of them by the end of Q3, Sept 30th, 2019. On the Show Today You’ll Learn: The story of how I initially connected with Casey, and what he taught me about interacting with your audience through this experience Why the way you acquired a customer matters so much when it comes to retaining that person How the fine print in your policies will allow you retain customers while protecting yourself at the same time The one question you need to ask of your CRM or payment processor His “Mad Mom Princple” and what Casey means when he says that you need to “make it obvious to the oblivious” The “Trouble Triangle” and “Magic Moment” principles that you can implement now to keep your customers happy and avoid potential issues ahead of time Real-life examples of the “55 Cent Principle” in action, and how you can start using it in your business today for amazing results What to consider when you’re transitioning to the CEO role, and the major hurdles you’ll face on the way to scaling your business to 7-figures (and beyond)

I’m honored to bring a regular listener of this podcast, Jose Quiroz, on to the show to share a cool case study of how he helped a client of his, and I know a lot of people will benefit from the lessons Jose learned from it and what he discusses in this episode. Jose helps established businesses take their products and service online, and profit from it, and in this episode you’ll hear how he did this with his client Rich, a local fitness trainer who wanted to take his business online after previously doing in-person training and workshops. Jose reveals how Rich went from having very little presence online to selling 25 spots in his 3-month online fitness program, all in matter of just a few weeks. Jose reveals the process, or “personalized road map” he gave Rich that made this possible, including how his client ultimately decided to deliver his course content to the participants. Like me, Jose knew he had a bigger calling to do more than he was doing in the corporate world. He also had a lot of doubts and fears in making the transition, which he is very open about and talks about here. I think it’s so important for people like Jose to step up and help others who want to move from the cubicle to laptop by starting their own online businesses, by giving them the coaching and guidance that they need to be successful so that they then impact more people with their own work. Before we start the show, I’ve got something to ask. At this time we have over 500 5-Star ratings and reviews on Apple Podcasts, which is great, but I’ve set a goal to get 750 of them by the end of Q3, Sept 30th, 2019. On the Show Today You’ll Learn: Jose’s thought process in leaving his corporate job, and why he says a job security can be an “illusion” What the transition to full-time entrepreneur looked like and how his family and childhood experiences shaped this move How he learned that the only thing capping the opportunities available to him was himself The “Secret Sauce” Joe now uses to guide his clients and the way he gained clarity on who he should be serving How he began working with his client Rich, and why it was so important to get him over his fear of doing live video A breakdown of the process he gave to Rich that resulted in 25 course sales in just a few weeks, and how they combined traditional and digital marketing to do this The way they approached creating the course and delivering the content, including alternatives to doing a membership site How the process will differ for someone in the corporate world looking to start an online business, and the platform Jose recommends these people leverage
