Longtime listener finally jumping ship :(
I started listening a few years ago and I’ve really enjoyed the technical elements of the show. Ultimately, I’ve been driven further and further from being a committed listener due to frustration with the show’s approach to politics and the way that people can influence them. I think that this format of show would really benefit from a leftist perspective, which, I’ve come to realize, is not what I’m going to get here. The show’s handling of Bernie Sanders has been frustrating and saddening for me. I believe that podcast media is a great way to change the political landscape for the better and I’ve spent a long time hoping that this podcast would be outspokenly critical of capitalism but that’s not what you’ll get here.

This podcast is problematic
These kids have really good intentions with the poorest execution. I don’t believe they’ve really found their stride yet. One minute they’re attacking bad behavior, the next moment they’re applauding the same behavior and excusing it depending on the point they’re attempting to make. I’m really excited to hear their perspectives in a year or two after they’ve figured out their voices and the direction for this show.

Excellent!
Super entertaining and well-organized discussions of problematic topics. I can’t believe more people aren’t subscribing to this.

Fun & Insightful Podcast
I love this podcast! It's fun, informative, and insightful. They really bring up a lot of thoughts that I haven't really considered. Also, when they reviewed my favorite show (Golden Girls) they didn't completely destroy it :) I love a good discussion that makes me look at things from a different perspective. Seriously, hit that 'Subscribe' button.

“here to ruin your favorite things” . Stretching your fight too thin. Focus on the right fight and win, not 20 and lose.

Learning how to do better
Learning about how to be more critical & ethical with the media I consume is a journey. Luckily, Kristen & Elizabeth host this wonderful podcast. It’s like having a discussion with two friends over drinks about some of the awful aspects in the pop culture we consume. Keep doing the wonderful work, Kristen & Elizabeth!

Enjoyable and enlightening
I just want to give a shout out to a fellow LadyPodSquad Podcast. I have been looking for more podcasts supporting my fellow indie casters and just want to say that this is definitely being added to my subscribe list. Funny, enlightening and I like the fact that we can all agree that being problematic in some ways doesn’t make a movie unwatchable.
The Feminist Critique
Gonna need a sequel to episode 56
I thought I was here to hear pop culture get dragged, turns out I want more political dragging.

My Fave is this Podcast
Your Fave is Problematic is a thoughtful, challenging, and fun podcast and I'm so glad that Kristen and Elizabeth ruin my favorite things every week. What I love about this show is the honest and open discussions about the things that are the worst even when we think they are the best. Listening to them talk about your favorites like Gilmore Girls, Amy Poehler, and so on is a way to challenge your thinking and provide a more nuanced view of the things you love the most. I particularly enjoyed their discussion of Roseanne as this show was a personal fave when growing up and hearing them talk about it as the reboot was coming out made me think about all differently. So have a listen and get as woke as possible. Alysa, Best Forevers Pod

Love it (though it breaks my heart)
I love this show though a few episodes have hit me really close to home (...though I think that's kinda the point) I think the RENT episode is my favorite so far (Like, really. Why DOES Joanne hang out with these losers?) The hosts are really funny & have a great chemistry. I would definitely suggest!

One of the best!!
I'm so happy to have just stumbled across this awesome podcast! I've been catching up on the back catalog and it's all so good! Liz and Kristen discuss pop culture subjects that I find interesting (Gilmore Girls, Roseanne Barr, How I Met Your Mother, etc.) and put into words what we've all been thinking: they have some serious issues! Their commentary is well-crafted and pertinent, while also being extremely entertaining.
Can't wait to hear what the cover next. I'm definitely subscribed!

Don’t be afraid!
I avoided this podcast for a while because sometimes the world is too much and killing my idols felt like the worst way to spend my time. After listening with friends on a long car ride I was SOLD! I live for the Democratic Darlings episodes! I always learn something new even about folks I thought I knew everything about. The range of topics is also great (ie Amy Poehler -> Dungeons and Dragons -> Bernie Sanders).

Learned a lot!
This pod was recommended to me by the ladies of the Super Serious Social Justice Podcast and I really enjoyed it. I checked out the George Washington episode and learned a lot about him.

Hilariously Sharp
CONFLICT OF INTEREST DISCLOSURE: I moderate the Facebook group linked to this group.
Elizabeth and Kristen do a great job of picking apart favorite movies/people/books/etc. that might not have aged well, or might not be "deserving" classics, or that just might have problems that don't get paid attention to, but with lots of humor along the way and a lot of space for a nuanced discussion of why or why not it might be worth keeping these faves around. The two have a great rapport, and it's a super relaxed attitude; really, it's nice how open to discussion they are and how much the podcast + group combination makes that easy.
Obviously I have *some* bias here, but honestly, I just stumbled on the group a while back and I've been a regular listener ever since who....somehow ended up being a mod in the group. ^^;

Thoughtful and Provocative, But Fun!
These ladies are incredibly thoughtful and insightful, but I also laugh during every episode!

Love what you love, but stay critical!
I love that this podcast is all about discussing the problems in popular media, but does it without falling too far into darkness or despair. It’s super important to be aware of the problems in things we love, but it doesn’t mean we can’t still love those things (at least not always). A delight to listen to, and pretty informational as well!

Kill Your Idols
Okay, not really, that’s pretty harsh, but:
We should all be critical of our faves, but doing so can be uncomfortable. This show does a great job of taking a critical but fair look at many of the pop culture institutions whose curtains we too frequently fail to look behind. Listening to this show will make you more conscientious, and you’ll enjoy enjoy yourself along the way. Highly recommended.

Great perspectives
The show idea is perfect. I love that the hosts are women.
I've only listened to a handful of episodes thus far, but I really enjoy the hosts and their conversations. They are really funny, and the humor blends perfectly into their serious critiques.
If you want to have a more accurate representation of people's faves while being fully entertained, Your Fave Is Problematic is a great choice!

So good
I know it's an amateuer podcast, but the sound quality is fantastic (I love how you can hear them drinking in the background). This podcast is great, so informative but not preachy. I also love the pre-topic current event conversations.

Great chemistry, great approach
Kristen and Elizabeth have such a great chemistry, and I love the approach of tackling these topics from a place of love instead of 100% criticism. I'm looking forward to listening more!

Such a gem!
I was so happy to find this podcast! Too often fans can alienate others who point out issues with our favorite things. I think it's really important to be able to critique and hold the media we love and consume to high standards.
Kristen and Elizabeth do this in a fun, informative and real way, always emphasizing that you are allowed to enjoy problematic things as long as you do so responsibly. They are intelligent and witty humans who put on a great show of their own! :)

Difficult but necessary conversation
How does one separate the artist from the art? It's a thorny question and there's no simple answer. I appreciate this podcast's attempt to discuss the issue. There are so many people to examine, especially as one goes further back in time, that these two awesome ladies should have plenty to talk about for a long time. That's a little sad.

Hard pill to swallow, well delivered!
Listening to this show is often a challenge for me, but what I get from it is so valuable. No other show challenges me in this way, while also making it clear that I'm not a bad person for enjoying things that have major issues. I hope that this show lasts a long time because it's so important.

A fantastic listen
I love the charisma and banter these two hosts have! They’re topics are interesting as well. Many are things I’ve always enjoyed but after hearing their talk, I’m beginning to view them in a different light. Still my faves though. Keep up the good work!

Okay, I admit it! My faves ARE problematic!
It's a really bad feeling when people come at you for things you like (even when yes, they ARE problematic!), but I'll say that they have done a few episodes on some of my actual faves now and I think they give the subject matter a pretty fair shake while still hitting the problems. Sometimes it's things that I cringe along with the hosts all over again (Frasier Crane's take on race, anybody?) and sometimes it is things that flew over this straight white guy's head. But they don't make me feel bad for liking what I like, while providing a lot of points for me to consider. If you're interested in learning more about the problematic aspects in media and having a good laugh to boot, this one is for you.

Do your research!
While I think that this is an important podcast and discusses things that should be mentioned and spoken about, I have a problem with your fact-checking skills. A lot of the time you get things wrong and if you’re going to make statements then a simple google search to confirm those statements would make sense (case in point: Nicki Minaj never spoke at Republican conventions). I also think that if you’re going to talk about something then maybe you should be familiar with what you’re commenting on. A lot of the time one of you haven’t seen/know about whatever it is you may be discussing (e.g. Tina Fey’s movies and tv shows; Taylor Swift’s videos; entire seasons of Frasier). It might make sense to actually experience those things, so some research on them, and then have a discussion. I think talking about the problematic aspects of our culture is very important but maybe being more accurate about it would give you more legitimacy.

🎼I hear the iTunes a-callin...
...it’s 5 starts and hurray. These ladies don’t seemed a bit confused, and hey, they seem great. But I don’t know what to do with the time in between the eps. But they’re coming again.🎼 GOOD NIGHT SEATTLE WE LOVE YOU!

My fave is problematic and so am I
I'm obsessed with this show! Love the humor and tone, and I'm always learning something from a new perspective.

Smart and Fun
It's important to look at pop culture critically, but also remember all the likeable stuff about it, and I think this podcast does a great job at both! Keep it up!

This podcast is smart, funny and insightful!
Kristen and Liz put on a great podcast discussing things in culture that may be a bit over-hyped. They take a refreshing look at the things people love and pick it apart in a way that's funny and intelligent. This is a great show!

Thoughtful Criticism
They ruin your favorite things and yet it's so entertaining to listen. They treat each topic with its due respect, but nothing is sacred and that makes a this a great show. I enjoy the discussions and look forward to more!

No Problems Here :)
Kristen and Elizabeth are here to beat your favorite things to a pulp and I kind of love it. I love when podcasts can have a strong opinion that is backed up by actual evidence or thoughts. These two ladies are thoughtful in a way that I can actualy appreciate the fact that they destroy Game of Thrones and other such things I love. I can tell that the hosts would get along great with our podcast because we both find joy in making fun of pop culture.

I was skeptical
Too often the"you're fave is problematic" trope is myopic and seemingly willfully ignorant in terms of what humor is and how context matters. This podcast is thoughtful and fun and the women at the helm do a nice job of keeping their minds open and the conversation light where it ought to be and taking actual issues to task. Great show!

Great new podcast that makes critique fun. (Really!)
It's easy to feel fed up with all the essays and think pieces out there levying social critique at everything in our culture these days. Fortunately, this podcast's approach to critique isn't just thoughtful and nuanced, it's also a lot of fun. Check it out!
