This story is a snapshot into the life of a family everyone feels is ideal ... except for the aging patriarch, who is beginning to feel irrelevant. I can easily see Rod Serling turning this into an episode of The Twilight Zone, even though he never did. The first time I ever "read" this story, I watching an episode of the old Twilight Zone with Rod Serling--it's one of my favorite shows ever. I loved the beauty and poignancy of the tale, and even more so in text form. I hope you enjoy it, as well.
