You Brew You
You Brew You
Kari Lessner/Kim Thompson
We really love sharing a cup of something wonderful with our friends & neighbors. We don't all vote the same way or go to the same church. We don't share the same favorite colors or drink orders at the local coffee shop. We don't always get along. But we've found that it's easier to understand someone when you sit heart to heart, cups in hand. There's room to share what God is brewing in me and what God's brewing in you - and then watch how that understanding infuses our lives. Welcome to You Brew You, the podcast.

Episode 79: New Stories w/ Glenys Nellist
When Glenys Nellist invited me to help launch her newest book, “Twas the Morning of Easter,” I responded with, “Yes! Would you like to be on my podcast?” And glory be, she said YES! We had such a lovely conversation (I could listen to her read a phone book - her voice and accent are so beautiful to me!) and I found myself so thankful to have this incredible opportunity to visit with her. We chatted about the importance that story played in her own childhood, and in the lives of her children. I am honored to serve in the Father’s fields, in children’s ministry alongside absolutely wonderful folks like Glenys. And I can’t wait for you to fall in love with her voice, her writing and her heart for Jesus.

Episode 78: Learn to Bloom w/ Callie Murphy
Callie Murphy started out growing boys… five of them. And then she took up cut flower gardening… which has blossomed into a personal mission to make 50 gardeners in Houston in 2021! She may have her hands full with yours truly. When we visited via ZOOM before Texas’ Great Freeze of 2021, Callie and I talked about her gift for teaching other people the art of growing things. She is the perfect person for us to visit with in our new season “Bury the Alleluia.” (Check out the details in the episode!) Pruning, weeding, composting - it’s all a time for God to whisper to his kids. There is so much going on underground - where God is working, growing and bringing forth life. So let’s get our hands full of the stuff that we are made of - remember we are dust.

Episode 77: Savor This Part 2 w/ Britt Carter Fisk
We sit back down today with Britt Carter Fisk and share the second half of our visit around the beautiful story that God is telling through this precious family. Both Britt and I take stock of just a few “God winks” through this whole conversation - those little things that God does to help us see his hand at work. To quote Britt, “God if you can take care of the piñatas, you’ve got this cancer and spina bifida under control!” Join the You Brew You Crew as we spend the season of Lent (the 40 days in preparation for Easter) as we pray for, Jeremy, Britt, Carter, Peter, JohnPaul, Sophie, Genevieve, Henry, Lucy and sweet Agnes. You aren’t going to want to miss one second of this beautiful story of God’s incredible grace and our hopes to shine brightly for His glory through all that life dishes up. We are both learning to “Savor this…” All of this.

Episode 75: Soulspace w/ Bo Stern-Brady
Bo is a momma, a wife, a friend, a pastor, an author, and the creative genius behind the app “Soulspace”. Our visit was one part caffeine, two parts Jesus and so rich with mindfulness. I take Bo at her word when she says that her dearest wish is that her books (and I’ll bet she means the app too) “makes you laugh, cry and believe that you can become your best self in the middle of the hardest fight.” I’ve watched my own heartrate slow with each morning meditation I’ve done on Soulspace - and I’ve found myself journaling about so many of the amazing truths she shares in this chat. Brew up a cup of some dark roast and join Bo and I as we talk about anchoring to the Rock.
