Episode 70: Why Selling as a Coach Matters
I will tell you a truth: We are born Sellers. Right from our childhood, we inherently know how to sell. A child sells by asking its parent something like this: if I finish homework now, would you let me go and play by evening? A wife sells by asking her husband: okay, I am ready to cook dinner for your friends this weekend, but next weekend you'll have to take me out for dinner and a movie, done? A husband sells his wife the thought: I'll be late these days darling, please bear with it. I promise I'll make it up to you. I've booked a beautiful villa for both of us for next month. We'll spend the whole long weekend there. What I am trying to say is: we are selling non-monetary stuff all the time. What we are getting in return may also be non-monetary. Schools sell us a dream future and demands our attention and focus in exchange. Colleges and Universities sell us the importance of a degree and demands our commitment to the institution and education for 4-5 years. Jobs sell us the idea of secure income and in exchange asks us for 7-8 hours of our lives every single day. So, I don't see the point when we make such a fuss about selling. Why does it need to be uncivil, shameful, or dishonourable when it comes to selling for money? In this episode, I break it down for you, why selling matters. And why selling coaching matters even more. Because we collectively need to shift our lens around selling. Reason being: if we don't sell, we don't make an offer. When we don't make an offer, the person who is desperately in need of coaching and healing in this moment doesn't get it. Their lives remain unhealed and untransformed. When we make the act of selling about our shame, our hesitation and our limitation, we don't realise we are being deeply selfish. We do not consider how everyone in the world is in need of it at the moment. How would you feel if you yourself were going through an emotional pain and there was no one to talk to? Infact, let's say you call up a therapist or a coach because you know they can resolve your issue, and they refuse to sell? Episode 68: Your First Crore from 1:1 Sessions
I gave my students today their easiest and simplest 1 Crore a year plan. It was barely two lines. Way shorter than what I am explaining here. I said, sign up clients for 6 months. Charge them INR 5 Lakhs. And serve them your 100% every single week. Give them results beyond your expectations. And take just 20 clients. 10 in the first 6 months 10 in the next. That’s it.  20 Clients x INR 5 Lakhs = 1 Crore ($125k USD). And I know, I get those eyeball-rolls all the time. So, don’t worry. People often think I am speaking from the future.  But here’s the math and the un-math both. First the un-math: I absolutely hate telling people to pay me for my time. Simply because I am bloody good at what I do. I have done it for ten years and in those years I have mastered what people cannot in fifty years. So yes, I charge for the result I guarantee, not for the time I give my clients. I problem solve and I charge.  And I teach my students exactly that.  Which is why, you must never calculate the value you are offering your clients as per session or per hour.  When people ask me: if I charge INR 5 Lakhs for 6 months, meaning 24 sessions (one session a week), it will then be INR 21k per session!  And that’s where I stop them and ask them to GIVE UP session wise math. It’s useless. My client often reach their goal by the 8th session. And then, I simply ask them: let’s bring things to the table now that you didn’t think existed when you first signed up imagining that it’s going to take the whole of 6 months to resolve. Basically, now that the problem is solved, let’s work on future goals. Now the math: I used to charge 21k per session in 2019. I wasn’t a biz coach then. I was a regression therapist, helping people with any and every problem through the lens of childhood and intergenerational trauma work and family constellation. So, even if some of you, despite reading this email multiple times, will calculate session wise, I am still asking you to quote a price that is like 4 years old (and in a few months, five). Minus the INFLATION. It’s that simple. The model is bullet proof. I am telling you. You don’t need group programs, you don’t need a social media manager, you don’t need a website, you don’t even need to exist on Instagram. 20 Clients. One year. Serving your ass off. One F*cking Crore. And now that you have the model ready, what else could get in the way? The answer is: your own mind.  What you believe about this model. What you believe about yourself and your skills as a coach. And what you believe about your clients. Episode 66: The Power of Creating Clients
I have a strong reason why I do not like to make THINGS outside my body and brain responsible for making me the money.  For example, I was coaching a client inside ATEPS the other day. And I noticed how — like many of us — we give away the power to the content, to the audience, to the traction.  Here's, what was happening: my client was stuck in a thought loop that their content was what created the clients and caused the sale.  While good content is always a catalyst, and can accentuate your sales, or people signing up with you… When the process of creating that content becomes strenuous and brings exhaustion instead of occurring naturally, instead of being a source of fun, a way of discovering and rediscovering yourself and the way we like to express — Then that content STOPS pulling in people.  It is then an impediment to your sale. Instead of facilitating the sale.  Why? Because the way you FEEL about putting out your content, the way you feel about how you show up is FELT by people. Our nervous systems extend and expand beyond our bodies.  They can be sensed and intercepted via the screen, via text, even just by visiting our page.  The signature of our nervous system is everywhere.  Which is why I do not believe that content creates clients. What else doesn’t create clients? The number of people following you or your outreach.  People liking your content or commenting on it. Thinking that there is a specific modality or a magical way of conversion.  A sales funnel or an email list.  And-and-and anything that makes you feel that you don’t have the power to create them, but they happen as a result of an element, an event, an object — outside of you.  Which is what this episode is about. Episode 65: Why the Brain believes "It can't be simple."
The brain's job is to give us BS. Anything that seems uncomfortable or unfamiliar, the brain will simply try to dissuade us from that. That is why, in times of unfavourable circumstances - it tells us things like: This can't work out. It's going to be difficult. There is no money coming in this month. Things will be slower this week. I have to work harder to make things happen. If I am not present, no one is going to buy. These are just examples. But of the 60k thoughts we think everyday, over 90% of them are about why something can't happen or why it can't be that simple. It's always more about why something is not possible, versus why something is possible. And this podcast episode is a living testament of the latter. I was travelling through Europe, handling a health emergency of a parent, shifting houses, paying up over 40 Lakhs of expenses, not having access to my laptop or my office the whole of September 2023, and yet I didn't make that the reason to not make money. And I didn't make that a reason to not serve people. I did both and I made over $100k even this month. I want you to know how I did it. So that you never have to believe when someone tells you: this is going to be difficult. Remember, no one can ever tell you how difficult it's going to be. It's your f**king business. Episode 64: When the Buyer is the only 3D
I have this line inside ATEPS that I keep repeating to my students all the time. It's called Other People's Thoughts Come from Other People's Brains. However, it took me a lot of time to truly believe that "other people's thoughts cannot impact my business." I used to feel that people leaving, they unfollowing or unsubscribing can somehow negatively impact my sales. Some people when they are disapproving or say bad words about me, I would somehow want to reach out to them and offer them an explanation. But then, as I grew my business, I realised that the more I focussed on those who are leaving, who are critical and who wouldn't buy from me, the more I wouldn't be able to serve those who are WILLING to buy from me. So then I decided, what if people who don't want to buy from me didn't even exist? And I know it feels like a ridiculous thought, but that is what made all the difference.
