Mental Nourishment
There is a whole science around mental cognition and how we think, learn, remember, reason, and focus attention.  These are pretty critical brain functions and without them, our lives would be much more difficult to navigate.  That’s why the health and wellness industry is booming with products and services to help sustain and enhance our cognitive thinking abilities.  Beside the products and services, there are some schools of thought where various activities and exercises are promoted; from breathing to meditation, to music therapy.  Today I’d like to focus on the foods that we can add to our daily regimen to enhance cognitive ability over time.  Guest:   Tawana Cherie Miller Cover Art: (Pixabay , Christine Sponchia)

Use Your Voice
Affirmations are simply declarations or pronouncements of a belief.  If you believe that you will have a good day.  To affirm that is to say, ‘I’m going to have a good day’.  And if you believe that you’re going to falter in pursuit of a goal, you may say, “This is going to be a pain in my patushka.”  Psychology Today writes that “there is value in positive affirmations, in that our subconscious mind plays a major role in the actualization of our lives and the manifestation of our desires. In other words, what we believe about ourselves at a subconscious level, can have a significant impact on the outcome of events. I know.  Interesting stuff.  Professionals believe that when your ears hear your voice, your mind gets into gear. Guest:   Kimberly Ross Cover Art: (Pixabay, mohamed Hassan)

Plan to Win
A former Nike executive, Lee Weinstein authored a book called ``Write, Open, Act: An Intentional Life Planning Workbook," that enables people to build a visual Intentional Life Plan in just a few hours. In his book Weinstein espoused that we should ask ourselves 4 questions; What are Your Life's Wishes, What is Your Timeline, How can you Turn Your Timeline Into an Actionable Plan, What must you do to Stick with the Plan? I found this to be very validating in that I need a plan for everything.  So it was refreshing to see that I’m not alone in my compulsion.  Today I’d like to explore the role of planning when it comes to having success in life. Independent Thinking (aka. The art of not giving a !!bleep)
Oooowee.  I have been looking forward to doing this episode.  Why? It’s a topic that I think will be life changing for so many of us.  This discussion is all about having your own set of values to guide your decisions.  That’s what I call independent thinking.  Many of us are influenced by the social norms around us.  We drive the cars that are popular, we wear the styles that are trending (that’s me), and we adopt the views of the populous as they are defined for us by the media and other power structures.  And how’s that working out for us?  I’d argue that there’s room for greater independent thinking.  But sometimes it’s hard to break away from the pack.   Guest:   Janette Blatz Cover Art: (Pixabay, mohamed_hassan)

Passion People. More powerful than a Locomotive Part (2)
In part one of Passion People episode we talked with our guest, Heather Cavitt, about the value of passion and how it shows up on people.  If you haven’t listened in, it’s a great episode.  Heather describes how passion gives each of us a unique edge in that it creates an energy to allow us to achieve pretty awe inspiring things.  So I wanted to come back and go a bit deeper into how to recognize and embrace passion in our lives.  Heather is back to help us wade these waters. Passion People. More powerful than a Locomotive Part (1)
Have you ever met someone who seemed to have a magnetism or what some might call charisma?  Those are the people who seem to light up a room when they enter it.  Or if you hear them at a party they always have a really interesting story to tell about some experience they had.  I call these the Passion People.  They come in all shapes and sizes.  The funny thing is that they come from all backgrounds, religions, cultures.  These are the people whose opinions we want to hear.  And who tend to influence the crowd.  Let’s get it straight.  That description doesn’t apply to everyone.  I guess that’s also why it’s so unique and recognizable. Intuition. The Voice of the Spirit. Answers to your Unanswered Questions may be Closer than you Think.
Obstacles come in many shapes and sizes.  Sometimes there are external influences that introduce obstacles.  And Sometimes the battle is from within. By silencing the external noise we can focus on what’s ahead.  That noise may be coming from naysayers, or even truth tellers.  None the less.  It’s noise just the same if it becomes a distraction.  By contrast, there is the voice within you that is there to act as a guide.  Our better angels offer affirmation that we’re on the right track and gives that nudge that feels like a green light to keep going. Today’s guest knows something about how to be guided by that intuition.  She has traversed this journey with a keen sense of self and of the world around.  Her journey hasn’t always been a bed of roses.  But I’m a fan of how she has landed flat footed and has mastered how to make lemonade and to make that lemonade sweet each time. Build Trust First
Throughout this life we encounter thousands of people and over time most of us come to learn that all of the people we encounter are not trustworthy.  And I don’t think there will be any pushback if I were to say that having a trusted friend, partner, or coworker is valuable.  Super valuable yet rare.  There’s a saying that goes, ‘in order to have a friend you must first show yourself friendly’.  Well today I’m going to turn that on its head and say, ‘in order to have trust filled experiences, you must first build trust.  You.  Not the other guy.  And that’s not always an easy thing to take on.  So I’ve grabbed a fella who I know does this very well. Know yourself and the world is yours
The Chinese philosopher Lao Tsu said, “He who knows others is wise.  He who knows himself is empowered”.  This proverb is a recognized statement about the value of being self aware.  Self awareness is the first step to self governance.  In other words, how can you regulate emotions that you don’t fully understand.  It’s really difficult.  Self awareness is all about how well we’re able to not only identify and name your emotions and their triggers, but also the ability to understand their root cause.  This is a big thing if you want to have lasting meaningful relationships.  I can’t tell you how many times I’ve stumbled because I was not prepared to deal with the emotional triggers in my life.  So I’m thrilled to parse through this with a well integrated soul today.   Guest:   Kimberly Ross  (Cover Art: Pixabay, Geralt)

The Upper Hand. You’ve Got what they Want
I have heard people say nice things about me through the years.  All my life.  Things like, you’re smart. You speak well.  But I never believed them.  And here’s the funny thing about that.  No matter how much you hear a thing.  If you don’t believe in yourself, there’s no words that will convince you.  I share that because I know I’m not alone in my battle with self-doubt.  I’d like to explore what happens when you actually believe the good things that others say about you.  Guest: Reggie Oliver (Cover Art: Pixabay, Uki_71)
