The 2006 UConn men's basketball team was one of the most dominant in program history. Two years removed from a national title and loaded with NBA prospects, the Huskies spent the entire season ranked inside the top five and essentially dominated every team they played throughout the regular season. The only blemishes were a freak road loss to Marquette and a disappointing setback at Villanova, which also boasted a loaded top five team and was considered a national championship contender.

Two weeks after that loss, which knocked UConn from its perch as the No. 1 team in the country, Villanova came to Gampel Pavilion for the rematch, and folks, it was epic. The battle between the Big East's top teams more than lived up to the hype, and in today's episode Matt McDonough and I break down what remains one of the biggest regular season wins in program history. We also cover some of the history of the UConn-Villanova rivalry, which should be picking up steam again moving forward with the Wildcats now reigning as the top program in the new Big East.
