Escaping Pain to Finding Purpose w/Meyta (Brett Edmiston), Artist & Producer
In today's episode, Musician & Producer, Brett Edmiston - Meyta, invites us into the moment, the shift that altered his life, forever. Through this powerful conversation he takes us into the moment, the brutal experience, that led him to where he is today.  Early on, making music helped him escape inner turmoil, but through this harrowing, defining moment, life came into focus, and purpose emerged from this pain! As he uncovered truth for his soul, music was no longer an escape, but the pathway to his purpose. He shares why and how his current #1 song, Like You, was created through a process of surrendering and inviting Jesus into the creative process. He shares, "If we let Jesus into the creative process, He creates with us."     Brett takes us on a deep dive into the shame culture he grew up in and yet, he can clearly see in reflection God's fingerprints all over his story! He shares a conversation he had with God as he heard Him say, "You still don't understand that I truly love you." Brett invites us in to consider that we are the ones who limit the conversations with God.  He shares his rhythms that are non-negotiable, his capacity for more, the practical steps he takes to silence the lies that show up in his life, and all the things that currently bring him joy!     Congratulations to Brett, (Meyta), on your new album, Reverse Psychology, released today, January 19, 2024! Find his new album on all streaming platforms.  We hope this is the best part of your day! Groundtable {The Origin Stories} Eating Disorders, Healing Trauma & Undoing The Doing With Dr. Tanda Cook and Dr. Katie Collier
Welcome to Groundtable in 2024! With this episode my Co-host, Brit Albin, and I are launching "A Continuation of Wholeness" to kick off the new year. In this first new year's segment two very special guests join us at the table: Dr. Tanda Cook and Dr. Katie Collier! Both doctors share the sentiment that everyone needs to go through recovery because we all have big "T"s and little "T"s "traumas" that affect every cell in our bodies, our gut, our nervous systems along with how they affect our brain development and our neurotransmitters. We all suffer due to most of us walking around with unresolved trauma. It's really getting to that level of healing. It's not just about eating again or gaining weight, it's about getting to the root of why we do what we do and then, once the root is uncovered we need all the tools and the village around us to support us as we walk out recovery and true, full-life integration of successfully living whole. Dr. Tanda Cook and Dr. Katie Collier both agree on their journey's to wholeness it is the most beautiful unveiling and unbecoming of your truest self. This is deep, hard work for every human. In our dialogue today we uncover the reality that every soul needs to be tended to for recovery from micro and macro traumas in our lives. For too long we have minimized what it takes to heal and the healing it takes to live a life of freedom and strength. Through the lens of both physicians, we learn the grit and determination it took as they pressed through the "restrict and binge" cycles and patterns of life that extend far beyond their eating disorders. We learn how to keep showing up consciously and subconsciously to look at ourselves and choose to be whole!    We believe this could be the best part of your day! Thank you for listening friend! Build Life Around What Matters
Welcome to Season 3 of Yellow Soul!! In this episode I pause amid my morning run to begin the New Year of 2024 with you in the prayer garden I've become so fond of! I've spent so much time with God there in 2023. Oftentimes tears would fall while just listening to the waterfall and contemplating my own life, other times I was pounding the pavement with prayers for the injustice I knew was unfolding in the lives of family members, friends, and for humans around the world. For 24 minutes join me (with the waterfall in the background & cars zooming by on Main) for some hope, clarity, peace, and encouragement! We are built for the storm and Jesus isn't afraid of the chaos in our souls. Your inner resolve doesn't need to tiptoe around self-doubt, hatred, shame, and anxiety that may already be knocking on the door of 2024 for you. Living in the tension of pain and power isn't easy. Most days it will look like embracing rest as a weapon along with drawing the swords needed to fight for our mental resilience and will to live free! Together, in this episode, we begin by discussing our choices that lead us from longing into belonging, beautifully. There's never been a more perfect time to build life around what matters! Friends, we got this! xx, Juliette Click on the link below to connect with me on Instagram!  We believe this could be the best part of your day! Thank you for listening friend! I'm Not Leaving Until You Talk To Me, With Beau Bonin, Artist
In today's episode I sit down with Artist, my dear friend, and Soul Care Coaching client, Beau Bonin. In this conversation, Beau challenges and dares every person listening to get to know God for themselves! He shares the missed perception others can have of someone who grew up in a faith-filled environment who often think this somehow paves an easier road in life...which is so not the case! Beau shares his personal challenges and the non-negotiable rhythms in his life to support his walk of freedom; journey to wholeness. As difficult as his journey has been, he wouldn't trade the relationship he's gained with God in the process for anything. He shares a physical location he went to day after day at a point of desperation in his story when he told God, "I'm not leaving until You talk to me!"  Beau has experienced a different life since making the daily choice to "put on" a refreshed mind! There was a moment he recalls, a painful day of questioning where his life was headed, when God shifted his pain to power! "Our healing is so much closer than we think," he says, and we both agreed that God isn't watching us go through the process of healing, He is in the process with us.  On Sunday, November 26, 2023, Beau released an incredible work of art as an artist, his brand new EP (Extended Play), called TENSIONS! Find out in this episode how many mockups he did of the song Tensions before the final rendition was done! Groundtable {The Origin Stories} The Pursuit of Wholeness, With Susan Binkley, Shakia Craig, & Lauren Mason
In today's episode Brit and I have the honor of a returning guest, Susan Binkley, Author of My Front Row Seat A Collection of Stories From My Time Working Alongside Women In Recovery and Founder of non-profit, Blue Monarch. A refresher that Susan and I (Juliette) were beautifully connected through Tyler Bertola, Literary Agent, with our publisher, The Fedd Agency. Blue Monarch recently celebrated their 20th year as an organization! Blue Monarch's mission is to provide a long-term, residential and therapeutic Christian community for women and their children to break adverse cycles and rebuild their families. They assist women and their children who are overcoming addiction, abuse, and economic hardship to transform in mind, body, and spirit. Their program focuses on the child’s recovery as much as the mom’s and Susan shares more in depth with us just how important these children are to her! They also provide hands-on coaching for mothers learning to parent their children sober. They believe destructive cycles can be broken, families can be healed, and freedom from addiction can be found through Christ. Susan and her team have supported families since 2003 through Blue Monarch and has served nearly 1,000 women and children and close to 350 children have been reunited with their mothers who had previously lost custody! Today Susan is returning to Groundtable with two special women who not only came through the program with Blue Monarch, but also serve on staff! Brit and I are in awe as we listen to the unfolding of the miraculous stories from the lives of Lauren Mason, and Shakia Craig! We could not wait to have these champions come to our table today to inspire you and encourage you to remember how far-reaching God's love is for every human being! Lean in with us to hear how they did the work, but know their staying power is through God-strength! Enjoy learning more from their bios below:  Shakia Craig: Officer of Development & Community Relations. She is a passionate speaker and loves to take every opportunity to bring the mission and raise awareness to each and every community. She also markets for Out of the Blue Granola. She knows first hand the transformation that takes place here and is over joyed to share and spread the word so more women and children can walk in true freedom. Lauren Mason: Director of Case Management. I love serving the women here at Blue Monarch because I too once was a single mother battling for a better life for me and my children in this very same program. I am very passionate about seeing these women find the freedom that I have found through the love of Jesus coupled with the staff's obedience to the Lord in helping me along the way. I lived many years in meth addiction with 2 of my children and it was dark, hopeless, and left me with suicidal ideology. My children were left to suffer the consequences of my poor choices and my oldest felt like she had to be the adult in our family but God's reckless love was chasing us down. I am now 6 years drug free, met and married my best friend, got my pilots license, and had a baby that never has to know an addicted mother. Me and my precious children now live this incredible life that still brings me to tears every time I think about how the hand of God snatched me out of that pit and placed my feet on solid ground.   We believe this could be the best part of your day! His Focus Was Legendary In The NBA with Author Eli Ihej
In this episode I sit down with Author and Freelance Journalist, Eli Ihej. Born and raised in Los Angeles, he developed a childhood passion for basketball and the Lakers that he combined with his years of freelance journalism alongside his interest in wellness and psychology! Eli recently released his new book titled, What Kobe Left Behind “The Playbook From An Extraordinary Life.” In our conversation, Eli shares why writing this book became a labor of love and an opportunity to share Kobe Bryant’s story at a deeper level. He invites his readers to journey through their own story along with his and Bryant’s by asking this question, “What if the amazing stories hidden within Kobe Bryant’s legacy can turn you into a champion?” Yes, what if? Dr. Caroline Leaf, best-selling author of Switch On Your Brain and Clean Up Your Mental Mess gives this review, “This is one of those rare pieces of inspired storytelling that educates as much as it captivates. I’m not a basketball fan, but the way Eli highlights Bryant’s heart-wrenching and uplifting episodes kept me reading to the very end.” As we move through our conversation, Ihej shares with us why and how empathy extends far beyond a counseling environment into the arenas of alpha-male pro athlete environments to better themselves as leaders like Bryant did in his own life. We learn as Bryant’s career evolved, so did his need to receive and give empathy. This power source, discovered of empathy, became instrumental in his career. Eli reveals disciplines of Bryant’s he adapted in his own life and the impact it made personally and professionally. During the writing of his book, his own life transformed! He believes the change he experienced is a transformation also available to you and me. Eli Ihej passionately draws us in his book, What Kobe Left Behind, to receive more than an intimate view of Kobe’s extraordinary life. On the edge of your seat while reading, you’ll get the keys to unlock your potential from the Mamba and become an MVP in your world! Connect with Juliette Here! Connect with Eli on Instagram Here! Groundtable {The Origin Stories} How We Grieve Determines How We Heal with Tiffany Coleman
Welcome to this segment of Groundtable {The Origin Stories} on Yellow Soul! My co-host Brit Albin and I sit down with Tiffany Coleman. As someone who grew up in the church, Tiffany Coleman has had a relationship with the Lord from a young age. Soon after graduating high school in Keller, Texas, she would attend Dallas Baptist University where she would obtain a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology and a Master’s degree in Counseling. DBU is also where she would meet and fall in love with her late husband, Dwight Coleman, Jr. Tiffany describes the back to back tragedies that shifted the trajectory of her family's life 17 months ago. First, her husband unexpectedly passed away in April 2022, of a pulmonary embolism, leaving Tiffany a young widow and single mother of their four children: Tristan (14), Kennedy (8), Ella (6), and Chloe (3). Then, only five months following Dwight’s passing, Tiffany's mother lost her fifteen year battle with cancer. She shares with us, “It is the sweet grace of Jesus that has carried me and my children through.” Tiffany takes a deep dive into coping skills, how to acknowledge the perimeters of grief to avoid pitfalls, why routines and rhythms are essential for her, and how she taught her children to translate grief in their individual lives. Tiffany has a background in marriage and family therapy. She has done work in the private practice counseling setting, a women's shelter, foster care agency, charities, and as an investigator for Child Protective Services over the last 15 years. Tiffany’s life calling has been to walk with others through life struggles, pain, and traumas. However, it was after the loss of her college sweetheart that she discovered another reason why God led her down the educational path He did all those years ago. It was time to apply all that she imparted on others, to herself and her children as they journeyed through the valley of grieving their beloved husband and father. From the beginning Tiffany has declared that grief and hope can coexist, that loss and sorrow is not a life sentence, and that through all of life’s disappointments; God is faithful to redeem, rebuild, and bring beauty from the ashes! She clings to this truth; we don’t get a pass so we do have to learn healthy ways to walk and cope with our grief. Through her story, we learn how to step in and out of grief while we are in the healing process. Book Recommendation by Tiffany: Experiencing Grief by H.
