A new feature documentary from Spero Pictures takes on a topic people have debated for thousands of years and that has grown newly urgent in a divided, distracted culture — does God still speak through prophets, and if He does, would we know how to listen? "Can You Hear Me Now?" premieres exclusively on SalemNow on September 10, with a wider release to follow, beginning October 10. Directed by award-winning filmmaker Matthew Thayer ("The Trump I Know", "[S]election Code", "The Enemy Within"), the film investigates the modern prophetic movement through biblical, historical, political and scientific lenses, though it does not tell audiences what to conclude. It does, however, take both sincere belief and honest skepticism seriously, examining the prophets of Scripture alongside the self-proclaimed prophets shaping headlines today, and asking what is at stake when claims of divine guidance collide with politics and power.
Anchoring the film is one of the last recordedinterviews with conservative leader Charlie Kirk, who sat down with Thayer two weeks before his death to wrestle with the same question. "A word from a prophet should never be an excuse for inaction or apathy," Kirk reflects in the film. "It's something we need to always apply and submit to scripture. But I've seen it work. I've seen it transform lives."
