Hmmm
I started listening to this pod wanting to know more about the railroad and the interworkind of it. But, after listening to a few episodes it’s clear this is just another political podcast only willing to shed light on one side of the issue.

I look forward to each one
I love how Max gives everyone a voice. The small imperfections in the long discussions put me at ease and inspire trust. The Oil and Gas episode was spot-on accurate in the portrayal of the culture. I loved the Dollar General ones among others. This is important work. Thank you.

Labor supporting labor
Fantastic podcast that does a great job shedding light on the plights of the average working person. The two episodes that did it for me are the Dollar General and Amazon organizer ones. The politicians ie “wealthy” look out for each other so it’s on us to do the same for ourselves. I urge you to become a supporter via Patreon like I did. Let’s show some solidarity and do this!

Gathering oral primary sources for the future while trying to ensure humanity gets to have one
Sometimes it’s hard to express how profoundly smart this podcast’s host is. I don’t want to tarnish him with the “g word” because it’s been hollowed out by over and improper use and cheapened to the point of worthlessness. But honestly his intelligence seems way larger than belonging to any one individual. It emanates largely, I’m guessing, from his deep study of both history and literature. He has one foot in the now informed by the past, and the other in the future which will be shaped by what we value in the present. Max Alvarez values the dignity of working people.
I’ve probably listened to about 80% of the output over five seasons, and am the richer for it, not just as a journalist but as a human. It’s both fun and frustrating waiting for the rest of the world to catch up with him (and his seriously-brilliant-in-his-own-right producer, Jules). But I have no doubt they will.
Oh, and he’s not perfect. Which is great because his listeners aren’t required to be either.

Essential podcast.
We don’t have enough labor-centric shows/podcasts featuring news, analysis, and discussion.

Power to the People
One of the only shows that let's us into the lives of workers. Max is our generation's Studs Terkel!
PalomitaNegra
long overdue but arrived right at the right time
Max Alvarez' curiosity and what seems to be egoless interview style ensure that these conversations are not about him, but about the voices of workers across the industries, whose stories we seldom (if ever) hear even though their destinies are directly tied to our own. They are beautiful conversations, and treasure troves of insight into what solidarity means and what it demands.

Don’t let them divide us!
The social justice movement has been hijacked by illiberal demands for conformity and a call to re racialize our nation. This of course fuels the real racists. Meanwhile, the elites are safe knowing the status quo will prevail. THIS MOVEMENT, your movement, is how we win. We can’t give an inch to anyone using racism (in any form). Oppressive people and people with historical oppression narratives have the same goals. They want power for themselves. This is about a better world for everyone. Let’s do it.

This is the best podcast. Full stop. Simply one of the most important archives of our modern condition. If you financially support just one podcast, make it Working People.

Too much personal chit chat
I tried to listen to an episode, but when they hit 10 minutes of personal chitchat, which no sign of stopping? I gave up.

A Great Survey of What Working Class Life is Like
But seriously, who was the one person out of 100+ reviews that gave this podcast one star? Literally every other person who has left a review gave it five stars. LOL
If you can support this podcast on its Patreon. We need to give material support for work like this, during these times of transformation.

Incredible Podcast.
All right. Just finished working 20 hours straight, & only have a few hours before my next shift. So the fact I’m taking a few precious minutes to review this probably means it’s pretty good, right?
Maximilian interviews people too often ignored, & asks the types of questions that are rarely asked. It seems too obvious to compare him with Studs Terkel, but I’m too tired to think of something smarter. His work is certainly unique in its own right, and more overtly political. (And he’ll have my unending respect for supporting strikers like the UAW workers at GM.) But I think anyone from a working class background or looking to understand us would gain a lot from listening to Working People. I think in decades to come, some of these interviews will still be listened to & referenced.

Great thoughtful podcast
This is a great insightful, sometimes heart breaking podcast that really explores the struggles and small victories of working class people. The host, Max, does insightful very intimate interviews of workers and really digs deep. This is a great podcast that is thoughtful, funny, sad and leaves you wanting more.

Workers Tool Kit will be something you don’t want to miss if the aphorism Knowledge is Power holds any value. Great concept! Don’t miss this new series.

Power to the People!
There are many stories of the common person out there, some more or less interesting. But in these times, the story of the everyday worker is one that needs to be heard. This podcast is giving the mic to those workers. People like you and me, most probably. People we can relate to. I am deeply grateful for every episode.

Studs Terkel for podcast age
Provides something you don’t hear or see elsewhere: the voices of people in America who aren’t celebrities, politicians, or the wealthy—just normal people telling their story. Would be great to see this scaled up into its own television series.

The people have spoken
And they have a lot to say. It’s incredible hearing the stories from all over from my own hometown to each and every coast and everything in between.
Max does a great job as an interviewer. He actually gets to know people and has a genuine sense getting at what matters most to his guests. The interviews never feel invasive or voyeuristic. Instead, they’re all very involved and house a lot of heart.

Pretty good
I like this podcast. Could do without the 15 minute intros though.

Excellent Podcast
I’m a new listener to Working People but it’s already among my favorite programs. As a union worker (National Association of Letter Carriers Branch 9) and a longtime socialist, Alvarez’s podcast means a lot to me. Highly recommended!

A Great Way to Connect With People
Working People is true to its name - people love stories, and hearing the stories of the working class is refreshing and needed. Hearing other people struggling day to day just like us is cathartic, reassuring, and makes you feel a little less alone in all of this. And, hopefully, inspires you to want better for us all.

Extremely Necessary
Thanks to the host for creating this wonderful setting for telling the stories that almost never get told in any media setting.
