On this episode, Ariel is joined by Dom Whitlock, the Editor of Global Dating Insights and Clubhouse moderator of This Week in Dating.
Interesting Points about Dating Trends:
The dating industry is inclusive in its professional base, and their goal is to be inclusive of different dating populations. Online dating is for everyone--everyone needs to be working together to provide the best online dating experience.
His podcast is the GDI Podcast. There you can see a variety of podcasts in many topics, including Inclusivity and Equity in Dating. The Women in Dating Initiative strives to ensure opportunities for women working in the industry. Online dating is more progressive, and more women are in executive positions in the business, but there is still a long way to go.
The past 18 months have seen the explosion of virtual dating, because people have jumped online to date. The general consensus that people will use a video date as a pre-date before spending money and time to date to figure out if they really have that connection. There is talk of VR and AR dating from a company he is interviewing for his podcast called PlanetBeta.
Another result of the pandemic is that singles are taking time to get more serious, and there are more personality-driven and anti-superficial dating apps coming out at the moment for people to settle down and find the person they are going to marry.
October is the beginning of "cuffing season," the busiest time of the year--for people who want to find someone to have pumpkin spice lattes with during the winter.
Apps that approach dating from a less superficial perspective: S'More; Jigsaw. Matching and messaging happen before people can see each other's pictures.
There is a lot of talk about "Slow Dating:" a response to the Tinder's invention of swipe-based dating in 2014. People are experiencing "swipe fatigue." It only gives a certain number of matches each day--Once gives one match a day. Coffee Meets Bagel gives three or four--the goal is to slow the process down so people can make more informed choices. If you are only talking to 1-2 people at a time, you are not "losing" conversations.
Identity Verification: This is the process of identifying peoples' identities to reduce crime online and false profiles. We discussed why identity verification was so difficult--and it has to do with the sheer amount of work needed to verify millions of people. Scamming and fraud has been a part of the industry for years now, and companies are very aware and are making steps to combat this.
Blue ticks on Instagram and Twitter show that you are who you are--some companies use this as well, and some make it mandatory--requiring their users to complete an identity verification process. Some companies don't. MatchGroup (Match, OK Cupid, Hinge, Tinder, Plenty of Fish) has committed to spending 100 million on trust and safety in the next 12 months. They are pairing with Garbo to do background checks on individuals using public information to check criminal history or a history of violence.
How Dating Sites Make Money:
Trading publicly: 5 companies trade publicly--MatchGroup, Bumble, SparkNetworks, Hello Group, ParshipMeetGroup (2022). They raise capital to direct toward new projects, hiring employees.
Memberships: subscriptions--to make dating easier or increase visibility. "Fremium" model.
Advertising or Partnerships: You can swipe right to find out about about a company.
Hinge's CEO said they would never have advertising on their app because it is counterintuitive to their goal of getting people off the app. Hinge used to draw from your Facebook friends and set you up with their friends, but a few years ago they steered away from that, and their goal is to be the relationship app for Gen Z.
Tinder: Target market is 18-24 year-olds who want a fun experience
Hinge: for people who want a relationship
Dom's Tips:
There is no "best" dating app.
The best thing for one person is not the best for someone else. Take the time to research and re-think about what you want to get out of your online dating experience and dig into these platforms and dig into the demographics they are going to target. Pick what works for you.
You have to be completely honest with yourself and others about what you are looking for. You cannot lie about your age or height--people are not pleased that they have been lied to.
Dating Corporations own groups of dating sites:
In the Western World:
MatchGroup
Bumble
ParshipMeetGroup
SparkNetworks
In Asia:
HelloGroup (they run social networking sites--not just dating--MoMo TanTan)
BlueCity (LGBTQ dating apps)
KEY TAKEAWAYS
The online dating industry at the moment is a bit more progressive than a lot of other technology industries. There are a lot more women in high-ranking, executive levels for example. But, if you look at the ratios and the numbers there is still a long long way to go to ensure diversity across the board and there are a lot of organizations working on that to try to build a better future.
In the past 18 the biggest trend has been the explosion of virtual dating, people jumping on video calls instead of meeting in person. Hopefully – coming towards to end of the pandemic – virtual dating is going to take more of a back seat, but the general consensus is that people will still use video as a pre-date exercise.
A lot of people have really thought hard about settling down and find the person they’re going to marry, so there are more serious dating apps rather than the casual hook up apps.
Scamming a fraud has been part of the industry for many years now and probably always will be. It’s going to down to how well the companies manage and tackle it. They are very much aware of the issue and a lot of them are doing things to combat it.
BEST MOMENTS
"You need input from women, men, the LGBTQ community and the heterosexual community because dating is for everyone."
"Virtual dating may evolve into AR and VR dating."
"This is the busiest time of year for online dating, with ‘cuffing season’ upon us."
"Take the time to research and think about what you want out of your online dating experience. Look at the different apps and platforms to figure out the demographics they’re targeting and apply that to what your needs are."

Keep Your Goals SMART:
Specific: Make your goals specific.
Measurable: Make your goals measurable. "I will create $5,000 a month of gross income within 6 months" is an example.
Achievable: Make sure a goal is something you can achieve.
Relevant: Setting a target market of reaching "everyone" is not a realistic goal--identify a niche of people whom you want to connect with. Make sure this goal is something that you feel is appropriate, needed or important in your life.
Timely: Set a time or "by when" you will reach this goal. Even if you don't make that exact date, you will be more accelerated in your growth than if you had set no goal at all.
Affirmations:
Divine Connection:
I am a clear and perfect channel for Divine Love (Will, Truth).
I am always connected to the Divine
Money:
The more I am willing to prosper others, the more they are willing to prosper me.
Money is trying to come to me, and if I open myself, it will happen.
I now have a success and surplus consciousness with money.
I am one with a tremendous amount of money.
Health:
My natural state of being is healthy, and I am in perfect health now.
My being is always glowing with radiant health.
All-Purpose and Ariel's Favorite (for when you forget your other affirmations):
All of my affirmations are working for me, whether I am actively using them or not!
"Said to clear" is a term that is spoken when we say something to clear our emotions, but we do not want it to manifest into physical reality. The more you vibrate at a higher rate, the more quickly things you say or focus on can manifest, so it is important to clear negative statements!
KEY TAKEAWAYS
2020 definitely turned all of our wishes upside down and threw them into the trash, we had to completely let go of everything normal, all of our expectations and how we framed life as normal. But what has 2021 been for you and all of us?
We’ve all been affected by the pandemic, by polarizing points of view and arguing different belief systems and viewpoints, you may have lost some relationships this year, money may have been a challenge for you, or not – perhaps you were busier than ever, and your challenge is lack of balance and being overworked.
Taking stock of what is and isn’t working in your life and what you can and can’t control is not about writing down a list of complaints. Instead, start using the manifestation approach, one of the powerful four-word phrases ever: What is the workaround?
Set intentions around positive improvement and avoid negative statements, instead focus on tangible goals that take you in the direction that makes your life better.
BEST MOMENTS
‘"f you don’t care for what’s been in your life in the past year, you can make some choices to change it."
"What good has happened in 2021, it must have been better than 2020. Take stock and reflect."
‘"What is the workaround?"
"Your energy flows where your attention goes."

On this episode, Ariel is joined by Nancy Lesiotis who tells her story of renewal and healing during the Covid-19 pandemic and how that transformed her career and perspective.
Tip of the Pod: Remember that Apple Watches can help you remember to breathe deeply! Nancy uses hers regularly for this purpose.
KEY TAKEAWAYS
When I took up yoga I have no inclination to teach it, but within two weeks of finishing yoga school training I was asked to substitute and, at the time, I was practicing saying “yes” to invite more opportunity and experience into my life. Even though my first reaction was to say “no” because I wasn’t ready, I said “yes” and worked through my fears.
During Covid I was teaching yoga over Zoom, but now I only do 1-to-1s in the park. I now structure everything around sound healing. Life was pretty rosy in 2019, I had a room prepared and two clients, but then Covid hit, and everything came to a screeching halt. My retail management environment didn’t shut down though, and we suffered with customers blowing up for having a wear masks etc., which was pretty draining.
I was tired, exhausted and mad at the world, but I had to stop living in pity and madness. So, I dug in, did a lot of writing and made a consistent plan for myself, even if it was just moment to moment. Just breathing properly helped to get my healthy in body and mind, as I tend to hold my breath.
What I’ve learned was to reinforce, renew and cultivate my relationships and friendships and stay present with them. I wanted to make it through without feeling sorry for myself, despite my personal losses. I’m responsible for a lot of people, especially in the retail environment.
BEST MOMENTS
"I’m still learning."
"Tuning forks are a great starting point if you wanted to start in sound healing."
"We might have a ton of tools in our toolbox, but how many are we using and are we using them consistently?"
"Deeply connecting with my mother and my sister have been the best relationships to come out of Covid."

Nancy has worked in holistic retail management for over 20 years. She is also a Reiki Master Teacher, a Yoga Instructor, and currently also works in Wellness in Sound Healing. If you would like to reach Nancy Lesiotis.

This episode is about the power of action, strategies, and how to connect to the flow to move forward in life.
Gamma brainwaves are 40 cycles per second and higher. They are associated with bursts of insight and high-level information processing.
Beta brainwaves are 14-40 cycles per second. This is the normal state of consciousness.
Alpha brainwaves are 14-7.5 cycles per second, and this is when we are in a state of relaxation or meditation.
Theta brainwaves are 7.5-4 cycles per second, which is a very deep state of meditation or light sleep..
Delta brainwaves occur when we are sleeping at 0-4 cycles per second.
Source: https://www.gjcae.org/contact-us/20-music/162-types-of-brainwaves-and-meditative-states
We can get into the flow in many ways, and here are a few:
Meditation
Exercise
Looking at art
Being in nature
Doing something creative
Doing something fun
Having sex
Cooking
Doing any repetitive motion
Tips for Delegating:
Carefully vet the person you select for this task to make sure they will deliver on what you are asking for. If you need a contract, make sure you get one and have it signed before work starts!
Give clear instructions that make sense to them. You need to communicate in a way where they understand your task.
Set clear and timelined goals for when you want the task to be completed so this person meets your expectations.
Reach out to Ariel with stories about your stories of delegating and click on the email Ariel link at www.arielhubbard.com
KEY TAKEAWAYS
If 100% represents what you do all the time and 0% represents never doing something, are you an action taker? What’s the percentage of you taking action and what’s the percentage if you’re an avoider or procrastinator? What tasks do you avoid doing?
I used to do other undesirable tasks, anything and everything that I hated, before doing my taxes. Then I realized I had to reframe my thinking about doing my taxes because I have to do them every year and you might as well make it into a positive experience. I made it into a kind of meditation and thought about all the stuff I do in a year and thought of it as keeping a journal in which I could track and be grateful for all the experiences I’d had that year.
I was a procrastinator, then I realized that the stress of starting things at the last minute didn’t mean I was doing good work. I needed to relax and start earlier to get into the flow. Then I found that if I knew the benefits of doing that task I found it was a lot easier to tune in with the flow.
When you do things that makes you relaxed, ask yourself “what happens next?” Often you’ll get a feeling, observation or intuition that’s going to give you insight. But, be patient with yourself.
Once you know what those actions are, divide them into tasks that you’re excited about and ones that you’re not. Put the exciting ones in your calendar and the ones you’re not onto a to do list. Schedule them while taking into account that your schedule needs to incorporate the time required to get them done. If you don’t complete the task in the time you’ve put aside, put it back in until it gets done. Avoid scheduling tasks when you’re tired or need to spend time with family/friends. Enjoy the good feeling that comes with completing a task.
BEST MOMENTS
"Are you an action taker, or are you an avoider/procrastinator?"
"When people think they’re going to get what they want they dedicate the drive and the energy to make that happen."
"The flow manifests when our brain waves are in alpha, or sometimes theta, state. A state of calm, peace, meditation and relaxation."
"Make sure you do less appealing tasks at a time when you have the most energy."
"Delegate tasks you aren’t adept or skilled at to someone who is. Money shouldn’t be an obstacle. Spending money is a sign to yourself that you care about yourself enough to free up your time and energy to do the things you enjoy doing."

In this episode, Ariel is joined by Lillian Anderson to talk about the power of business and her incredible journey from running a toy store in her 20s to business leader in the massage world, and how she empowered women on her journey.
KEY TAKEAWAYS
Nothing is ever given to you. You have to have your hands open – which is the symbol for people giving you money – to have the opportunities that are put in front of you. What women haven’t had is the education on how to use the opportunities in front of us.
The toy store was successful because I was there and I worked it with passion. I was the number one seller of marionettes in the United States. I outdid Marshall Fields. By the time I was 24 my entire family was working for me. Try supervising your own mother!
To empower employees when they’d reached the top in my companies (in other words, the next job they could go for was mine – and I’m not ready to retire), I ask them to look for another career. I don’t fire them, I help find them something else where they can grow further, even if that’s going back to school to improve themselves to gain financial stability and mental stimulation.
We live with so much anger and frustration: Figure it out, if you need counseling, help or assistance, go get it and find your peace. Your life will be so much easier
BEST MOMENTS
"You need to be willing to be able to reach out and try, “no” just doesn’t exist."
"Look at life as an adventure and in a positive attitude."
"No one wants to be bored at work, they need to grow as people, so you have to help. You can’t hold people back, especially if they’re women."
"I want to be in a position to forgive, if not to forget, and give the grace to someone else to do the same thing."

In this episode, you will gain an insight on how to get out of your own way, and create vision for your goals.

https://www.cnbc.com/2019/03/08/linkedin-study-reveals-why-men-are-more-likely-to-get-noticed-by-job-recruiters-than-women.html 03/2019
“What held women back from applying was not a mistaken perception about themselves, but a mistaken perception about the hiring process," Mohr said.
From https://www.rewire.org/apply-for-a-job-not-qualified/ 4/2019
https://www.bi.team/blogs/women-only-apply-for-jobs-when-100-qualified-fact-or-fake-news/ 11/2019
KEY TAKEAWAYS
Men don’t hold themselves back, they go ahead regardless. That’s a really good aspect that women can learn from men. Guys show up, even if they aren’t 100% confident, women are more selective.
Divine feminine energy is about gestation, creation, receiving and allowing ideas, creations and goals to manifest, creating an open space within yourself and the energy of the divine masculine is “GET I DONE!”
You need to create a space of openness inside you to get a sense of direction. Do something fun and inspiring, it doesn’t have to be goal orientated – like knitting or walking somewhere beautiful or just having a quiet cup of tea. Let ideas come to you and ask questions of yourself, what do you want to achieve? Imagine accomplishing it and then how your life would feel like having done that.
BEST MOMENTS
"Women tend to apply for jobs when they feel they are 100% qualified for them, men apply when they feel 60% qualified."
"Your body and your heart will let you know whether something you’re thinking about doing is something that’s really going to be good for you."
"Imagine the end goal completed and then imagine what it would take to get you there."

N: Navigate: How are you setting up your company legally?
C: Consult: Consult with a coach, mentor, CPA, attorney and get your questions answered to make sure your business is growable, scalable, and more.
H: Hedge: Hedge your risk!
Your Accounts that you should pay into in order to level up:
Being Account – attitudes, beliefs, emotions, patterns of behavior. Get your mindset right. Meditations, visualisations and affirmations are important.
Energy Account – Mind and body are connected. Look after your physical health. Drink water, have a good diet and exercise.
Love Account – Not just your relationships with others, but self-love and -care, whatever that means for you, preferably alone.
Impact Account – Business, brand, how you show up in your community. If you do the other three accounts right, they’ll overflow into your Impact Account. Energy can’t be destroyed only transferred.
KEY TAKEAWAYS
I wanted more freedom in my life and felt like I needed more freedom. I hit a glass ceiling when applying to C-Suite positions, despite having an MBA. Then my husband walked out on me and my three young children. Then I met my mentor and he said if you don’t invest in yourself how can you expect anyone to invest in you?
That’s when things really changed for me. I invested thousands of dollars in mentorships and mastermind courses and found that the problem was how I chose to view things in my mind and the power was already inside me to succeed. Then it became my mission to share the power of mindset with every person I can.
In order for you to really be successful, it needs to have a deeper meaning for you, you can have all the accolades hanging on your wall, but if you don’t love it, there’s still going to be an empty space inside of you. What is your ‘why’? What do you love?
Launch an MVP (Minimum Viable Product), let people experiment with your product/service and they can give feedback on what they like and what they don’t about it. That’s valuable feedback on where you can use to improve your business before you spend too much money on your business/product and you know which direction to go.

In the first episode of the Women Power Zone podcast, host Ariel Hubbard sets out what you can expect from the podcast and its goal. This goal is to bring empowerment to women in many different forms. Throughout the coming episode, you’ll hear about lots of different types of power from the guests that will appear on the show every other week as well as from Ariel. There’ll be laughter and awareness--you’ll get access to all kinds of opportunities and community.
KEY TAKEAWAYS
Stress response occurs when cortisol levels rise in the brain and affect how and what we think. When you get stressed out your ability to be creative, responsive, and have good ideas and thinking diminishes. The way to connect to your intuition is to slow down your brainwaves, which you can do via exercise, meditation, having sex, or something else that keeps your brain busy and distracted.
The Higher Self is the part of us that talks to the divine energies in the universe, our spirit guides, angels, god, whoever that is for you. Sometimes it sounds like you, or it could sound like someone you know or an ancestor.
If you hear something more than once, you need to pay attention to that. It could be anything from not stepping off a curb to taking your umbrella with you in the morning to how to better cook your food or calling a relative to check on them. For example, I had a business that I’d been running for a long time and my intuition told me I had to move despite my responsibilities to a lot of other people, but really great things came from that and everyone else in the building where my business was located got an eviction notice.
You need to clear your energy so that when you get accurate information. That’s why, before you go to see psychics, you need to be sure their energy is clear before you can trust them. A lot of people don’t have any training in ethics, a lot of people give advice way outside the scope of practice – like financial advice which is unlikely they have the training to offer.
Some of you may not hear guidance, it may come as a feeling. These can be outside of your comfort zone, which feels uncomfortable to act upon.
BEST MOMENTS
“Intuition is something women have and use, but don’t always recognize.”
“When I didn’t listen to my intuition, things would happen that were not optimal, but when I did pay attention to it, great stuff happened.”
“The voice of Guidance is loving, positive and suggestive.”
“Guidance doesn’t come when you’re planning for it--it usually comes at really inconvenient times--so record what you get on your phone, or write it down.”
“The more you follow your guidance, the more intuition you’ll get and the more challenging it will be to follow.”
