It's summer!  Litha launches this next phase on our Wheel of the Year and for many witches, the summer solstice is a celebration of abundance, vitality, growth, fertility and fire. Our gardens are flourishing, the days are long and the natural world feels vibrant and alive. Everywhere we look, we can see the results of what has been growing since the first stirrings of spring. But the Summer Solstice is not simply a celebration of light.  It is a lesson about what we do when we reach the height of our own light. What do we do when we have built something? When we have grown and stepped into greater responsibility?  What happens when we are being asked to lead?That is where I want to spend our time together today. Because this year, when I look at Litha, I find myself looking less at the Sun in the sky and more at what that solar energy is trying to teach us. Not just about power or success. My theme today is about fathers, protectors & sacred masculine energy.  Last month we sat together and explored the Maiden, Mother and Crone energy… and some of the feminine archetypes that move through all of us in different seasons of life. As Father’s Day started approaching, I found myself thinking about the other side of that balance. About masculine energy. About fathers, protectors, providers, warriors, guides and elders. About the energies that hold, defend, build and steady us. The Maiden, Mother, and Crone energies always seem to find us exactly when we need them. We did the thing. We showed up for the Fire Sabbat… we lit the candles, called in the energy, celebrated, maybe even pushed ourselves a little outside our comfort zone… and now? May 1st is just a couple of days away and for our Wheel of the Year celebrations, we have a fire festival! And I mean that in every sense of the word. Beltane is here and there is heat. There is movement, passion, creation, connection and just a little bit of that wild, untamed energy that reminds us we are alive.Last week, we grounded ourselves. We talked about protection, about setting up our wards, about how we hold our energy as everything around us begins to open and expand. And we did that for a reason. We have a BIG fire celebration coming up next week and with it comes a BIG Full Moon! So before we jump headfirst into the fun Beltane episode, I wanted to take a moment and talk about protection work and Beltane wards. Because with big celebrations, big openings, and big energy like Beltane we are not just calling in joy and abundance. We are opening doors. Last week in our episode Death, the Veil, and What Comes Next… we sat together in some really big questions. Thank you again for staying with me for it (I know it’s not an easy conversation to have).  We talked about the different ways people understand what happens when we die. This week I would like to pick up where we left off and talk about working with death energy. At its core, death energy asks us to let go.  To notice what is no longer aligned, what feels heavy, what feels complete or what has in fact actually ended …. and to allow it to end. And I know that sounds simple when we say it like that but if we’re being honest, this is where a lot of us get stuck.   Or where I certainly did. Because even when something isn’t working anymore, even when we know we’ve outgrown it, there’s still a part of us that wants to hold on.  It’s natural.  We do it out of habit or comfort or sometimes even out of fear of what comes next.  So working with death energy as release… is really about creating space to consciously let something go.If there’s one thing I hope you can take with you after listening today, it’s that Death energy is not something separate from your life.
