Very thankful that I found this podcast. If there is a topic related to the wild turkey, odds are it has been covered here. Viewpoints are unbiased and grounded in the science. I live in central Florida and there is not much turkey content or any content on wildlife in Florida. It’s refreshing to hear from someone who is local, knowledgeable, and passionate about the wildlife. I enjoy all the research that is discussed and love learning from it. You guys are doing a fantastic job educating people to help conserve the wild turkey. Keep it rolling!

I am a scientist, dedicated to research and discovery, then followed by implementation. I am also an avid hunter, who, after decades of hunting, is still trying to learn about turkeys. Your podcasts are extraordinarily informative and helpful in both respects. I wish that more hunting and fishing platforms would include useful, basic scientific information about animal behavior, physiology, and demographics. There is something there for everybody and we’re all better off by learning more about what we love to be involved with. Keep up the great work!!

This is the best podcast for all things Wild Turkey related. I have learned more about turkeys, habitat, and plant species than I ever thought I would know. I found this podcast back in the Spring and started from the beginning after listening to a few episodes. Now that I have listened to them all I don’t know what to do with myself on my daily commute. Keep pumping out great content guys!

As an aspiring wildlife biologist, avid hunter, and currently working in the field of wildlife conservation, thank you all so much for providing a podcast so full of knowledge and taking the time to share this knowledge with all of us. Hey guys, love the show and have listened to every episode. I do have a question relating to Will’s favorite topic, feeding corn… Do y’all think by feeding some sort or rice or similar bran, vs corn would lower the risk of turkeys both having alphatoxin exposure and maybe even more importantly, keep them from frequenting the feed site and putting them at risk to predators, etc? Since we aren’t going to keep people from feeding, is this a better suggestion to make it more of a win win? Thanks!

Keep the stats coming. I tune in for science. I wanna know what plants to have/not have, how and when to burn, etc. etc. so I will have more gobblers. If I have more gobblers I can invite more people to hunt them and we get to enjoy more turkeys both before and after the season. Plenty of people have theories. I want the science. I am too old to try all the theories and then do something else when they don’t work. With your science, I have a chance to make a difference.

Love this podcast, it’s the perfect mix of entertaining while being highly educational! I cannot help but now measure everything in Alabama’s and say ay-kern even though I’m a northerner.

The last 4 episodes you guys have been knocking it out of the park. Not only have I been enjoying the specific content, but the balance of deep dive versus take home/takeaway messages from studies has been great. I’ve been furiously sending episodes to my brother, uncle and cousins who i hunt with. So much enjoyment and interesting knowledge shared. Thank you so much!

What a well spoken and knowledgeable guest. Contemporary authors and commercial nurseries had led me to believe we were on the cusp of solving the blight problem. This podcast, though a bit of a downer, highlighted the current state of the art with American Chestnuts. America is blessed to have people willing to dedicate their working lives to projects that hopefully their grandchildren will benefit from. Everyone who listened to this show should purchase a membership to the American Chestnut Foundation ($40). Even if just for a year! I just did.

I really appreciate the way y’all break down the research into a narrative that allows the lay person to apply it in a practical manner. I am a lifelong bird hunter and I find a lot of what I hear pertaining to turkeys can be applied to quail. At least I hope so. I rely on y’all to open my eyes to what the results of habitat manipulation (fire timing, intensity, frequency along with light disking) will have and how the birds respond. I have 138 acres that I have been implementing TSI (hack/squirt) and fire for 2 years. I now have a covey of birds and turkeys. I recently had 60 acres of old field pine thinned to about a 40 basal area with fire to be started in March. I do a lot of walking to see the response and it is really exciting. Great stuff, again. As a small landowner (60 acres) this has been very educational. It has helped me to approach, with a plan and intention, for the various conditions discussed on this program (closed canopy mixed hardwoods and pine, old field, pine stand and wetlands). Thanks for the introduction to Dr Harper and Dr Lovett Williams.

Every episode give me information I can use to improve my property for wildlife. I especially likes the turkey and deer plot episode. Talking about phosphorus and deer preference was really enlightening. Talk more about herbicides and creating brood cover in detail.

As a concerned wild turkey enthusiast, I have to say this is the most insightful podcast I've ever listened to on the subject. I've listened to every single episode--and some twice-- and have learned so much along the way, sometimes not what I wanted to hear, but that's science for you. These guys put the science out there, and that’s what the turkey needs right now. The content is amazing, and I've even started to implement many of the things I've learned on the properties I manage. Thanks for bringing the goods and getting a “Who’s Who” lineup of biologists and researchers each week. I love geeking out on this podcast. Update: I just wanted to let you guys know that I’m still loving the podcast. Great content! We at SCDNR have implemented many of things we’ve learned on the podcast, particularly managing native plant communities, with amazing success. Some of our burns have produced some of the best looking early succession habitat I have ever seen. Additionally, we created numerous wildlife openings and the disturbance unlocked many beneficial plants in the seed bank. I greatly appreciate your dedication to the podcast; I know it takes a lot of time, but it means to world to have this content available weekly.

As a public land user this podcast helps me make sense of what I am seeing when wildlife agencies make changes to properties. Everything y’all do for turkeys and habitat is great work keep it up for all of us out there trying to get through till next turkey season!!!

I've been listening since episode one and haven't missed an episode. These guys do a phenomenal job and I have learned so much. I feel like I'm really getting my head wrapped around what's going on with turkeys and what's important to them. This is probably the greatest resource for the turkey hunting community today! Thanks for an outstanding podcast. I live in Boston MA, but grew up in Mobile Al and I am now hunting turkeys in MA and trying to learn more about them. I have a biology degree and I love being outside! This podcast has helped me learn about Turkey’s and how we can save them! Dr. Marcus and Dr Will are brilliant, entertaining, insightful and provide a wonderful educational resource. I will buy land in Both Alabama and in the Northeast and the knowledge I get from these guys will help me manage my land for Turkeys.
