Good morning, today is Wednesday, November. 13th. I’m Mary Regalado and this is your daily briefing from the Wichita Eagle. You can expect a warmer day today, with highs nearing the 50s. And moderate winds will be out of the southwest gusting up to 20 miles per hour. The Wichita City Council took the first step toward reducing traffic lanes on downtown’s primary business street, with an eye toward creating a more bikeable and fun Douglas Avenue.

Good morning, today is Tuesday, November 12th. I’m Mike Scott and this is your daily briefing from the Wichita Eagle. We’ll see more sun in the Wichita area today but it will still feel cold. Highs will be in the 30s, and it won’t be as windy. In its first meeting after a contentious election, the Wichita City Council is being asked to approve millions of dollars in improvements, and incentives, for some of the mayor’s signature projects.

And there may be flurries in the morning with wind chills in the single digits, which will remain in the teens throughout the rest of the day. Today is Veterans Day, when America honors those who have served in the military.

Spangles long ago passed its 21st birthday — it turns 42 in January — but as of this week it’s now legal to drink. The fast-food chain is adding 99-cent margaritas and screwdrivers to its menu today at its restaurant near 21st and Woodlawn.

Good morning, today is Thursday, November 7th. I’m Mike Scott, and this is your daily briefing from the Wichita Eagle. It will be chilly today, with high temperatures only in the 40s. The day will begin with wind chills in the teens and 20s. Wichita Mayor-elect Brandon Whipple said he sees his election victory over Mayor Jeff Longwell as a win for the people of the city. He said they are fed up with backdoor deals, favoritism, and influence peddling at City Hall.

Today’s highs will again be in the 60s. Voters in Sedgwick County and across Kansas went to the polls yesterday to cast ballots in local races, including positions on the school board and City Council. One of the more closely watched races was for Wichita mayor.
