May brings turkey hunting, fishing, and a little known conservation activity called woodcock banding. Woodcock banding involves federally inspected handlers and their dogs finding and safely netting woodcock hens and their chicks in order to band them and study their population. We know the Wisconsin deer season is over so we had to get Dean Muthig on the podcast to get us fired up for next season. Dean joins us to talk all this big game recovery with dogs. We focus on primarily deer recovery. What questions hunters should be asking to find an experienced tracker, how deer react to different shot placements, how to get started with training your own recovery dog, and much more.
