Hello friends! Let me give you a warning with this one as it is not your typical Why Whiskey Episode. On this EP I sit down with Leesa Charlotte from the Sweetbitter Podcast and we talk whiskey, Sappho, a little history, a little Australia, and a variety of other topics as we drink through some high proof whiskey.
Please join us and hear Leesa's story and the incredible work she and her cohosts have done on the topic of Sappho.

On this EP of Why Whiskey, I am solo and talking about the National Anthem of the United States of America. Written by Francis Scott Key in 1814, while on a British naval vessel, Key would witness the bombing of Fort McHenry and the beautiful flag that was waving over the fort despite the incredible firepower that was raining down on it. Since that time, the poem turned song had a bumpy ride through the country until being accepted officially as the National Anthem in 1931. Join me and sip some whiskey as we explore the song The Star-Spangled Banner.

BUCKLE IN FOLKS! THIS IS A LONG ONE! On this episode of Why Whiskey I am joined by my local tin hat manufacturer Jesse as we explore another government conspiracy. This one is much more fact than conspiracy though and reads like a science fiction novel. In the last days of World War II, the US and its allies made drastic moves to locate and secure German Tech, science, and the scientists responsible. The Cold War warm-up was happening and the US was 20 years behind the curve. The Project called Overcast would evolve into OP Paperclip and would lead to the hiring of Nazi scientists for government programs. In a story with so many twists and turns, we are drinking some strong booze this evening. Weller Full Proof, Nikka from the Barrel, and Lismore are on the menu. Come join us!!

As we wrap up the first eps of the "My Whiskey Story" series I brought in one of the reasons I got plugged into the Whiskey community on IG. The Charred Cask, a.k.a. Jeremey Chapline, is a digital media producer and photographer. He composes fascinating shots of the bottles we, as whiskey lovers, know all too well. I talk with Jeremy about his passion for whiskey and photography as he shares with us the adventures both of his passions have taken him. Please check out his work at either of the links below. Please stay tuned for more in this series later in the year as bring on more folks to share with us their shenanigans along the road of Whiskey. Cheers.

In part three of the My Whiskey Story series, I sit down with COL Steve Akley. This former businessman turned writer, turned podcaster, turned whiskey network CEO has a fascinating story to share with us! Steve is the author of the Small Brand America series, the Bourbon Mixology series, and has written numerous other works in and around travel and drinking. The only thing that comes close to his passion for writing is his passion for bourbon. After leaving the corporate world and getting his writing off the ground Steve started the ABV Network. From his humble beginning with just himself and the Bourbon Zepplin, the ABV Network has grown into a massive network that hosts numerous podcasts, events, whiskey education classes, and has even made a movie! Come listen to Steve share all of this and more!

I got the chance to sit down with the owner, CEO, and Master Barrel Smasher (see video in link below) of Broken Barrel Whiskey Company for a couple of drinks and chat about his products, his history, the history of the company, and what Infused Spirits has to offer. We sipped the California Oak, the Heresy Rye, the Barrel Proof, two of the single oak series - Isle of Peat and Amontillado, and the newest offering from the company and the funkiest whiskey I have ever tasted, the Fen Walker. The Fen is something I encourage ALL of you to get out and try as it will play with your head in the best way! With extensive time visiting distilleries, on his way to nearly 150, Seth has had the chance to find the best product, distillery, and team to create his "unapologetically authentic" lineup. We talk about future projects in the works that may or may not include a mix-up of Mezcal and Single Malt Whiskey... not joking... Come join us for a great chat!
