In Who What & When I will take you through a variety of historical events and the lives of historical figures. Some you may know, and others you may get to know. In an attempt to present the stories as objectively as possible I stay rooted largely in primary and secondary sources with provided analysis. In this podcast I will cover topics from Ancient Greece and Rome to Tokugawa Japan in my never ending love for researching history and finding ways to make it more widely available for more people. The first half of his reign is filled with military and political success on the back of an incredibly well trained army and a great and innovative siege corps. This episode covers ancient siege warfare and the Macedonian War Machine as well as Philip's political machinations across Greece. This is the first half of his reign and it is highly eventful. Philip II of Macedonia: Part 1
In this episode I dive into the History of kingship in Macedonia throughout the late 5th and early 4th century up to the time of Philip II of Macedonia in 359 BCE providing necessary background for the multi part series on the Life of Philip of Macedonia. This story is one that is less told than that of his son, Alexander the Great. Philip, however, through my research appears to be as interesting if not more interesting than his son for his life and accomplishments. This is the beginning of a very unlikely King becoming master of all of Greece and the building up of a militarily irrelevant state to the preeminent power of Ancient Greece.  --- This episode is sponsored by · Anchor: The easiest way to make a podcast. https://anchor.fm/app Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/samuel-skokan/support
