Ellen Sitt began working on Dearest Joe about 6 months after her son was born in 2019. Being used to always working, she hit a block after deciding not to work when having her son.
Inspired by her everyday life with a newborn and the constant clothing ideas that came after every “crying change”, Ellen decided to make some clothing of her own.
Dearest Joe is an organic baby clothing company that launched in September 2020. All of the clothing is thoughtfully designed by a parent for a parent. The clothes are meant to be easy basics for parents to get on their child, comfortable for your child to crawl, walk, climb and more while also looking really cute.

As a speech and language pathologist, Rita has the opportunity to work with a wide range of clientele with a variety of needs. In this episode, Rita breaks the stereotype of what people think a "speech therapist" does. Hint: It's not just about fixing lisps!
"I like to refer to myself as a language therapist, as the bulk of my work consists of language work. My main job is to build my students' speaking, listening, reading, and writing skills. I start my day working as a middle school speech and language therapist at The Shefa School, a school for students with language-based learning disabilities. After school, I work with a mix of preschoolers and school-age students. At one point this year, I had the opportunity to work with a college-aged student on their reading and writing skills. My field is oftentimes misunderstood. When I describe my work, my most common reaction is “HUH? I thought you just help people with lisps! Reading and writing? I am confused…..”
The work of a speech- language therapist goes beyond speech. In this podcast, I hope to give you a window into the unknown aspects of the speech and language pathology field. Maybe I will even inspire you to join the club 😀" -Rita Tobias MA CCC-SLP TSSLD
