What Did We Say?
Josh & Erica Adkins
Join husband and wife duo, Josh and Erica Adkins as they navigate the ups and downs of life. Coming from similar walks of life, but having vastly different experiences, these young 30 something-year old parents definitely bring their different perspectives to the table. Each week they record a conversation that they have about life, their jobs, what they’re learning and their experiences. They will invite their friends to share in the conversation and answer your questions along the way. They’ll have fun, be authentic, and push each other’s buttons. Leave Me Alone (Special Guest Rodney Ladd)
Idolatry seems like a pretty simple concept in the Bible, right? Don’t bow down to golden statues? Check! Don’t worship false gods at their altars? Check! But believe it or not, idolatry is still alive and well! And it’s so well disguised that we often don’t even realize we’re participating in it. So what does modern day idolatry look like? People are People
When we dislike or judge a behavior, it brings up feelings of irritation and embarrassment in us. And when we feel irritated, how do we react? By snapping at others, sighing, rolling our eyes, or at the very least pulling away from the interaction. In turn, the other person (whether child, teen, or adult) feels hurt and confused! How do we remedy this behavior within ourselves? Let's discuss it in this episode. Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.

There's No Shame in Our Game
Shame plays off our natural hardwiring for connection. It has us mistakenly believe our flaws make us undeserving of acceptance and belonging, therefore driving us to feel not just alone, but helplessly isolated. And when we feel helpless, we often become reactive, seeking any kind of reprieve from such pain. We end up acting out in desperate ways that don’t feel like the real us. Ways that can add fuel to the shame fire. Simply put, when we feel shame, we feel awful. The good news? Most research suggests that shame is a universal experience (though different things feel shameful to different people). In other words, we’re ironically kind of all together in our feelings of unworthiness and fear of disconnection. Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.
