Seeing Red: First Place Last
Join Pastor Rebecca as we talk all about money and possessions and how they relate to how we are called to live out our faith. Can we hold on to anything? Are we supposed to give everything away every time? How much of it belongs to us, to God, or to the government? To start to answer these questions, we’ll look at another conversation between Jesus and religious leaders and the story of a man who wants to know how to receive eternal life. Both stories are going to make us confront some of our ideas and beliefs surrounding money.   Newsletter Signup: http://eepurl.com/in4gn6

Seeing Red: Do it, Lady!
What do we do when Jesus isn't warm and fuzzy? Do we get more persistent? If we persist, does that mean God will give us every single thing we ask for or want? Join Pastor Rebecca as we look at one of the stories from the Gospels that starts off in a confusing way, but reminds us that God's grace expands so much farther than we can imagine and it only multiplies when we share it.   Newsletter Signup: http://eepurl.com/in4gn6

Seeing Red: Ruling Stones
What is the difference between judgment and condemnation? When are either appropriate? Join us while we spend some time learning more about what Jesus does(n’t) say about judgment and condemnation, how that impacts so many aspects of our lives, and how a story about how religious leaders at the time treat a woman in their community reminds us that our work to be the church together often begins with looking at our own thoughts, behaviors, and relationships.   Newsletter Signup: http://eepurl.com/in4gn6

Seeing Red: I Hate Everything
The next episode jumps in to a few places in the Gospels where Jesus tells people to hate everyone who is close to you and also says that he didn’t show up to bring peace, but instead a sword. That doesn’t sound like the Jesus we know and preach. Are we supposed to love others or hate them? Are we actually supposed to love our neighbors and hate everyone who lives inside our homes? So, what is going on in these verses?   Newsletter Signup: http://eepurl.com/in4gn6

Seeing Red: Forgiveness is for Giving
In this episode, we get to talk about forgiveness - what Jesus actually says about it, what that looks like, and we’re going to acknowledge that there are nuances to situations that aren’t covered in scripture that might change how much forgiveness is possible and if there’s times it isn’t.   Newsletter Signup: http://eepurl.com/in4gn6

Seeing Red: When the Vows Break
If you are angry, frustrated, and Seeing Red at how the Christian faith and the words of Jesus are being quoted and manipulated to harm others, it's time to reclaim Christianity as a religion of peace, mercy, and hope.   This episode focuses on marriage, divorce, and adultery. 😬 We’re going to be jumping around a few different places Jesus talks about both of these in the Gospels. Are there times when divorce is okay? How strong is Jesus’ response to adultery? And, is reconciliation required and what does that even look like?   Newsletter Signup: http://eepurl.com/in4gn6

Seeing Red: Blessing or Woe?
If you are angry, frustrated, and Seeing Red at how the Christian faith and the words of Jesus are being quoted and manipulated to harm others, it's time to reclaim Christianity as a religion of peace, mercy, and hope.   This episode focuses on the Beatitudes as they show up in Chapter 5 of the Gospel according to Matthew and Chapter 6 of the Gospel according to Luke. This is a portion of scripture where Jesus blesses lots of surprising groups of people and, in Luke’s version, even spouts off some woes to other groups of people. What do Jesus’ words mean for most of us living in 2025? Do we receive blessing or woe? And, if it’s woe, is there hope?   Newsletter Signup: http://eepurl.com/in4gn6

Reading between the Lines: Women of the Early Church
In this week’s episode, we are going to be jumping all around the New Testament, pulling in some short stories about some of the women who were vital to how the early Christian Church grew. In this episode, we are going to be learning more about Sapphira, Tabitha, Lydia, Priscilla, Phoebe, Euodia & Syntyche, and Junia.   [T]hey are important simply because their names and a portion of their stories were included in the story of the early church. There are other women mentioned who have even less recorded about their stories. And, we know there are even more unnamed and unrecorded women who were vital to passing along this new faith to their children and grandchildren and also helped care for their communities in the ways they could.   Newsletter Signup: http://eepurl.com/in4gn6
