Undertale is the darling game that came to be when a die hard Earthbound  grew tired of RPGs and their tired formulas.  Incorporating a system where you never have to fight a monster was Toby Fox's way of introducing the world to the idea of random encounter monsters as more than just tools to gain experience; as characters with personalities.
