Nevada Governor Steve Sisolak sits down with UNLV Nursing to discuss trending topics in Nevada nursing, including why Nevada would benefit from joining the Nursing Licensure Compact and the best ways to address nursing shortages.

Gabriela Cervantes is one of 74 nursing students set to graduate at the end of the Summer 2022 semester. She shares what motivated her to pursue nursing, how she manages her time in class, clinicals, and in UNLV's Student Nurses Association, and the advice she'd give her younger self about nursing school.

Nursing shortages are currently causing issues in Southern Nevada and beyond, but while COVID-19 made the situation worse, shortages have existed for decades before. Two UNLV Nursing alumni and current frontline nurses Billy Luzong and Gabriel Wan share what their experiences have been like in current and past shortages and how nurses can manage potential additional work and their own self-care for both present and potential shortages in the future.

Five-time UNLV alumna Catherine Prato-Lefkowitz discusses the program she developed called "NurseMuse", a software that can guide nurses, specifically students, to build effective care plans for patients and understand the purpose behind the treatments. She also talks about the limits of technology in nurse education.

Since 2019, UNLV Nursing has hosted an annual hands-on summer camp for high school students interested in becoming a nurse. 2022 marks the biggest version of Nurse Camp yet with three weeks of activities. First-year camp co-coordinator and UNLV Nursing senior lecturer Shona Rue shares why nurse camp is the perfect introduction to the world of being a nurse.

April is Sexual Assault Awareness Month, and education is a huge component to helping reduce these violent acts. Joining us to share valuable information on the law enforcement side is Andrew O'Grady, Sexual Assault Sergeant with the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department. He explains what Las Vegas traits make it more challenging for sex assault cases; how law enforcement and health care providers work together to helping victims; and how we in the public can help investigators (including things we shouldn't do).
