When someone has Age related Macular Degeneration, it can be as frustrating as not being able to find the readers on top of your head or hanging from your shirt. AMD is central vision loss. That is the easy answer.
Let's say your business has a vision statement. Applying AMD, what if there was a blind spot in your business plan?
I'll be integrating medical and business concepts as I riff on Macular Degeneration. If you like this format, let me know at [email protected].

EyeCare paraprofessionals and patients, students and parents, ask - What is 20/20 Vision? This podcast answers non-technical questions, and adds some medical perspectives.
It addresses vision, the Big E is 20/200, legally blind means not being correctable to at least 20/80, and legal to drive is seeing at least 20/40. The podcast includes medical terms like myopia, hyperopia and astigmatism.
This sets us up for the next podcast on Macular Degeneration.

How do visually disabled people find supportive communities if their doctor doesn’t offer any resources to them? It’s a valid question. I’m embarrassed to say that I thought I knew a lot about vision and low vision, only to learn that I know very little about blindness.
Who we are when no one is watching. Are you hiding in your cave? Are you connecting with people by phone? Are you choosing to laugh because you can? One last thing. Please connect with your eye doctor and make sure he or she knows the resources you use. It may just help someone who you don’t know yet, and would love to meet you.
Make it a great day, Aloha.

We hear of this 6 degrees of separation, and in this podcast I interviewed a dear friend who was only 2 degrees between her eye doctor and the eye doctor I was working to connect with.
In many networking organizations, they ask: Who do you know who can benefit from the services I provide? This is an example of how that works. Now, I did not meet this doctor from Hannah. Why? I didn’t ask her. It wasn’t on my radar.
So this is my outreach and challenge to you: Who do you know who is losing their vision to age-related macular degeneration? Please let them know about me, and have them contact me at [email protected]. Next, you do the same thing. Next time you talk with a friend, or make a social media post, instead of asking for yourself, ask if they know someone you could connect with. Practicing this tid-bit makes it easier to do on a regular basis.
On that note, enjoy my ‘in the park’ interview with Hannah Hall.
